Tuomas decided to raise the middle finger back at the trolls who were convinced that they only hired Anette because of her looks, so he decided to have the band members replaced by sexy ladies. And the song was directed at Tarja.

Annette is one of the best singers , she is was a diamond in Nightwish, im Swedish and people who dislike her will have a problem with Toumas back then
There is a video "Making of Bye Bye Beautiful", 16 minutes? At the end there's a short interview of the mother and sister of a deceased Nightwish fan. He had the chance to be on stage with Nightwish, 2 weeks later he died of cancer. Nightwish dedicated a song to him.

Anette sings in real and the other ladies do acting. They said it loud to Tarja here ... and on another song (Master Passion Greed) to Marcelo and then as a summit the whole pain of Tuomas in Poet and the Pendulum. All those three songs about Tarja to leave. In here for instance Marco sings these lyrics about her but in 2024 - they hug each other and sing together "do You still believe in me".

More sadness at what has ended than hatred toward Tarja and master passion greed, absolute vitriol directed to ‘mr Tarja’. I TOTALLY agree with you that all three girls added so much to the overall Nightwish experience.

The girls were just acting, supposed to look pretty ;-) There's a nice "making of" video, where you can see the band and crew teaching them some stuff on the instruments to show off.
Emppu has that Zack Wild stance while playing hard
This is a song that they won't perform live anymore because Floor and Tarja are good friends and obviously this is directed to Tarja and she refuses to sing it. And the band is OK with that.
I'm pretty sure they never even asked, nor wanted to play this again.

@@NightwishArena Yes, they already took the song off the playlist in 2009, years before Floor joined, bc they were tired of playing it. I really like the song, it´s pretty cool and all that, but bc of the matter I understand that they´ll never perform it again.

I have never understood these lyrics, but musically this song is great (of course). Tuomas is writing like Tarja was the one with anger, but they were the ones who fired her with such a cruel way. He also wrote "you chose the long road but we'll be waiting", like they were really thinking, that Tarja would come back. Or "Someday I'll learn to love these scars

Yes, the lyrics are quite cryptical 😂... Especially the lines Anette sings. Markos parts are very clear phrased as a contrast. "Finally the hills are without eyes, they are tired of painting a dead mans face red with their own blood"... This is killing me literally, I have no idea about it 😆!

I believe the story is Tuomas gave two massive FU's to people who complained, The video for hiring Anette just cause she was good looking and the lyrics are directed more towards to Tarja and her Husband. Pissed off Tuomas is probably when he does his best work, his current eco phase just doesnt hit the same.
‘Pissed off Tuomas’. I totally agree. I very much like many of the tracks on EFMB and Human Nature but your words ‘his current ego phase doesn’t hit the same’ resonates with me. I’m sure I will like a lot of the third part of the ‘eco phase trilogy’ when it comes out,but I would have preferred a ‘new’ once, century child, or Imaginaerum.

And "Kuolema Tekee Taitelijan" actually means that the inspiration comes out of the dying things around... Many artists draw a lot of inspiration out of bad times, but I have to admit that the last two Nightwish albums were equally good in my opinion. The topics are less personal, but the overall theme is something I can relate to also very well, so for me they´re hitting as hard as the old stuff... I have to admit that I needed my time with Human. :||: Nature., I had to listen to it again and again, but I would say it became my favorite album (or nearly fav album, it´s hard to say 😅). Apart from them I´m glad that he seems more happier with his personal life today than back in the time from Century Child until DPP...
