Finally, someone that understands dirt riding and makes me think I am at least somewhat sane. I was looking at all the twin cylinder ADV bikes, the T7 being one of them and they just are not the right tool for the job when it comes to my riding on dirt. I have been looking at the 701 LR when I stumbled across this video so thank you and look forward to more vids from you.

Great video Greg 👏🏻 It always amaze me how well you put this videos of yours together and find the right way to suck us in and listen to every word you say. Thank you again for being a huge motivation, and can't wait to see where this bike will take you in the future 😃 Stay safe mate 🔥
G'day Greg like the video and it is very informative, keep up the excellent work. I have to me an important question, what are the headlights like. As the bike seems really well thought out my bet is good. Hate having to try and mount better lights.
I've not really used the bike in the dark yet as it's been summer over here. The nights are drawing in now so the lights will be used soon. I'll report back.
Interesting to watch. One question, since it seemed that the oil wasn't warm when it was let out. As far as I know it is SUPER important to ONLY empty the oil out when the engine is warm. Was it warm or cold?
Thank you for a very interesting and practical report. Well done and good luck tomorrow. I am also a photographer and I was wondering what sort of camera you will be bringing along on your trip.
hi, it is not necessary to compare the AJPR 7 with the T 700 one weighs 160 kg and the other 200 kg a single cylinder and a twin cylinder. You can take the road together with the T 700. make long journeys even off road. where it becomes complicated, especially on your own, is to take very stony and steep off-road portions of very technical passages where the AJP R 7 will pass with difficulty the T 700 will require a lot of anticipation and driving experiences and in in case of a fall it will be very difficult to get out. I have a 250 WR R, a 300 BETA X-TRAINER and a T 700 Teneré. the 3 are very good bikes, but respond to different skills, there is no point in comparing them since they are incomparable. See you soon
Agree, to a point. Many people are asking how it compares to the T700 so it's worth talking about, even if it's just to highlight the points that you make - they are very different bikes.
Great video and good information , I've changed the rear hose as my one had a small leak at the crimping drawing in air so a new hose and the rear brake was transformed .....Love the bike , easy to ride and goes great just watch out for the bashplate not protecting the exhaust or you'll flatten the pipe , lots of people have had this happen once the riding starts getting tricky.
Yes the PR7 is pretty capable. I have not put enough miles on the 690 to have an opinion but this film would be worth a watch - th-cam.com/video/vYM5Z_JJgUk/w-d-xo.html
Great vid! Thanks for the update. 2 things: 1. is it just me who thinks the intermezzo music is too loud? I mean at the level that I can hear you properly, the music in between you talking is a lot for me. But maybe I am oversensitive or sth :) 2. It is possible to install the radiator guard without taking off the radiators. All it takes is to disconnect the upper small diameter tube and that will give you enough room to do all the work. It will not help you, but maybe someone else out there. Looking forward for some more action ! Keep up the great work.
Bel video, bellissima moto. Ma i pezzi di ricambio del motore, ci sono? Sono reperibili oppure si corre il rischio di rimanere con una moto inutilizzabile ?
Good video Greg. Spot on on the T7 in terms of the weight and that its high up. The only thing that I would say is that its not exactly comfortable either. I was disappointed to do a 400km per day trip and find that my DRZ is as comfortable or better. I think I'll try to move it on and have a look at a PR7.
Swap out the rear brake hose for HEL or Goodridge. It then shouldn't touch the exhaust and will have amazing braking power. I was messing about with it for ages until I changed mine then instant upgrade.
My rear brake has been working totally fine since upgrading the brake fluid. Might consider swapping the hose if I encounter issues but so far it's very sharp :-)
Great video. I’ve just got a PR7 myself and loving it but the tablet is running very slow and gps arrow about 20 meters out, just wondering if you’ve had any probs or tips to speed it up.
Hi Richard. The tablet is a great feature but it's a very old model. I've already killed mine - it's not built for British weather! My advice would be to package the tablet and sell it while it's still new. Use the funds to upgrade to a better model that is waterproof as well as faster.
@@GregVillalobos Those 2 mods (ECU+exhaust) work very well together. At least +5 hp, less weight, much better torque and the engine runs also much smoother. Try it, you will love it. (clear increase of noise)
I love watching your videos, you have a very unique style that is captivating, and very good editing. Your bike looks amazing, I wish AJP had a dealership on the US East Coast. As it is, I am looking at a Husqvarna 701. Have you ever ridden one, or a KTM 690? I wonder how they would compare. I have looked into Adventure Spec because of your videos, and I have to say I am amazed at the amount of forethought they put into all of their products, and I am completely sold on them. I will definitely purchase AS products when the time comes. Ciao, Marco.
Thanks! AJP are in the USA but not sure where. I've not spent any proper time on a 690 / 701 but it's the obvious comparison to the PR7. The time's that I have ridden a 690 it's felt more tuned for race, body position, engine etc. The PR7 feels more like a light adventure bike, a bit more laid back. :-)
@@GregVillalobos Thanks Greg. Looks like the only AJP dealer is way out West. Keep the videos coming, they are great source of inspiration to those of us mostly indoors.
I'm curious on how ownership was. I'm looking at getting a 2023/2024 model. Parts availability, reliability being the main concern. Coming off a Tuareg so looking for a lighter platform capable of technical stuff. Nothing insane. But wanted to see how it was holding up, if there were issues and if it has served you well?

So.... knowing what you know now, would you still pick the pr7 again? And, just how close tomthe enduro end of the scale do you think it is? Does it feel like a purpose made adv bike or an adapter enduro bike? I'm moving from a ktm 990 to a 500 exc with a view to adventuring it but to be honest, it's too small, light and enduro bikexlike if that makes sense? I wonder therefore just how close to it the pr7 really is?
OK that's a big question. Hopefully some of the other films will have helped. I rode a 2014 KTM 690 the other day and found that much closer to my EXC than the PR7. The 690 puts you in a race riding position and is v snappy, the PR7 is a bit more relaxed. I'll try and figure out how better to communicate this in a future vid. Prior to getting the PR7 I LOVED my KTM 450 EXC (and still do). I found that it was overkill for some of the TET riding I was doing though.
@@GregVillalobos that sounds açe! Just what I wanted to hear. I've watched all the vids an they were helpful. I'm in love with my galaxy tab active 2 and the carpe bar controller running drive mode. That way I'd get the tablet and controls I love and the ktm reliability and service parts availability, I'm currently trying the 500 on 15 /48 gearing to see if it takes a little of the "enduro" out of it? I think with the right screen, gearing, tank and seat ( which I already have, seat concepts) it might be a nice blend and a unique set up, time and testing will tell?
