A range is not 100K if you buy used. There are also cheaper versions like the Range Sport. The problem with suvs like sante fe is that they never make them as large or as tall as a range so it is not really comparable. There is no reason they could not make the sante fe 10 inches taller

Looks great, probably drives great too. But does it have the locking differentials? What is the towing capacity? Obviously its no match for Landrovers offroading capabilities. But pretty great for mild offroading or general purpose for an average person.
I love my 2024 Hyundai Kona. The design inside and out is awesome. Hyundai/Kia have way better designs than any other competitors in the price range. Honda dialed back the looks in their recent gens. My gen10 civic coupe looked amazing but they made the new gen11 civics look boring

When it can wade through 900mm of water, be able to transfer 100% of its power to a single wheel if that is the only wheel with traction,rock crawl and have the ability to raise itself up to 11 inches on its suspension that is when we may begin to compare it to a Defender. Until then, it's a Santa Fe and that's not a bad thing either.

Because of the shortage, after markups, the dealer was asking $67,000 for a Santa Fe PHEV Limited. I understand it's a PHEV and it's fully loaded, but $67,000?!? Hard pass... I could get a GV80 for less! Lol. Ended up getting my Tucson Hybrid Limited for $40,000... From a dealership that wasn't marking up $12k-$15k. Lol

I wouldn't never ever buy another Hyundai product after owning 2 with engine and transmission issues. I highly recommend to search Hyundai Kia engine recalls AKA failures. I was never able to get a new engine under the recalls as they keep denying that my car didn't burn oil. I had to put a quart in the engine every 1000 miles. Even on the new ones they have engine problems. Hyundai's main focus has become the looks to lure the customers into buying their cars but they don't make good powertrains. That's my 2 cents for everyone. STAY AWAY from Hyunda/KIa.
Just like Land Rover they are a money pit. Transmissions already failing in 2024 Santa Fe. Could you imagine paying all that money and the transmission fails in a few months. There are better choices. Do your due diligence, research before buying.
Except the cost of ownership evens out more over time with the maintenance. Have a Hyundai. It's been the most expensive car to maintain with low mileage that I have ever owned. Will never buy one again:

If comparing to a Defender stop talking about looks and tell us about the power plant, the suspension, ground clearance, approach/departure/break over angles, travel of the wheels, four wheel drive system including locking differentials. Regardless of build quality Land Rovers are about capability, not looks.
It's infuriating to see what they've done to once a classy model. RIP Santa Fe. I'm keeping my 2017 model and could never live with myself upgrading to a mostrousity like this. I wish the EV9 had a diesel engine.
I understand the marketing purpose of comparison to a land rover. But it’s like comparing sams club cola to Pepsi.. it’s just not a land rover. It’s probably going to be a good vehicle, if it doesn’t catch on fire, it may even be more reliable than a land rover, but it does not have the style, the presence or the abilities of a land rover.. a better comparison would be a Suzuki Vitara, or a Geo Tracker. Pretty good, but just not gonna hold its place in front of the Hilton hotel. Those taillights look like they were lifted straight from a Geo Metro/Suzuki Swift.

Fix the back, change the copy/paste wheel/ increase the size of the glass roof, add ventilated rear seats and this is a great, GREAT competitor.
