Oh God yes Greg Lake RIP . Keith Emerson RIP . Saw ELP Long beach arena 1978 . What a great show that was . And lets not forget Carl Palmer , probably the greatest drummer I ever saw , and Steve Howe the most incredible guitarist I ever saw . With YES !
Those days you hear this and no matter if it's Greg Lake or John Wetton, you love the song, you miss the song, you missed both guys, both sound similar, and... That feeling of days that will never come back. To make it worse, Keith Emerson and Chris Squire too. Unbearable.
Devastated..... terrible news. Thanks for being a really special part of a teenage boys years in 1982 and always as taking me back to those moments ever since, you have been a more than iconic part of my life and if your family's are reading this you'll never know the extent to which you touched all our lives... Rest in Peace ... Bernard in Dublin Ireland. ... wish I'd got to see you in concert!
Greg Lake was a perfect sub for Wetton. If you're not paying attention that closely and not a big Asia fan, you might not even notice that it's not Wetton singing!
Greg does ok .but if you can't tell that isn't John wetton .your not an Asia fan period . Nothing against Greg lake loved him with elp. But without mr wetton there's no Asia
"Only time will tell" by Asia, was my listen to over & over again while crying my heart out after a break up song when I was in grade 8. Those were the days.........lol
My favorite song by Jimmy Pacheco from the Smith Brothers Band back in the 80's at Alhambra's Nite Club in Westport, Mass.. Great band and Smitty the drummer sounded just like Steve Perry. GREAT BAND!!!!!!!!
i was at the 1 st ASIA show in the spring of 1982 .It was in Potsdam N.Y. I was in college and did a paper about the show and got a B, my teather was a big fan of Yes
Exactly, I see people complaining about Lake's voice here and at the "Heat Of The Moment" video. Complete bull, it's a live performance and I absolute love it!
I didn't know that Greg Lake ever performed this song. I guess he may have been filling in for John Wetton when he became ill. So sad to think we have lost them both.
No, Wetton dipped out, leaving them high and dry with this worldwide TV broadcast concert with FM simulcast in Tokyo. Carl called Greg, who flew out and had just a week or two to learn two albums' worth of songs on vocals and bass. He did quite an admirable job and the rest of the band is totally on their game.
Hey deaf person - I'm in the majority of Asia fans ~ Back to the hospital, where they had you in 48 hour lockdown (Which your ex-girlfriend says you never shoulda been let out).
Nice of Lake to fill in but you've got to be kidding...he chops phrases short (poor breath control), lacks the range to take it up in the higher register like Wetton's original, and was shockingly pitchy. Mediocre.
I loved both singers, and found them extremely similar, and great mimics of each other, going all the way back to old king Crimson. But. "Best progressive rock vocalist"? Im wondering who else your thinking about,, there was some greats.
I have just begun to discover the details of all the music from previous generations; In my opinion John’s voice is stronger (comes from a deeper place within), however Greg’s voice has much more finesse and a richer timbre that makes it easier to listen to. But I admit to bias because I love Greg!
What a pity that Greg Lake passed away, he was one of the most beautiful voices in progressive rock.
I am sure that Mister Greg Lake had sang his best job, when he was part of King Crimson.
Not better the Wetton singing for Asia though.
RIP Greg Lake and John Wetton. i hope they jam in heaven with Chris Squire and Keith Emerson
The brightest ring around the Moon, will darken when I die.Rest in Peace John Wetton. You are missed. Rest in Peace Greg Lake. You are Greatly Missed.
Greg Lakes voice will live on forever! Amazing singer. R.I.P. Greg
John also. Sad.
Always was great to see Greg & Carl playing together….& Greg’s voice was far smoother than John’s ( which I also loved…) rest their souls..
This is the most 80s of all 80s bands. 💗
Oh God yes Greg Lake RIP .
Keith Emerson RIP .

Greg Lake being Captain Clutch here. Great player, great singer

i used to skateboard to this with my old chaps sony walkman mk2 playing in my headphones.. another star stops shining.. R.I.P

their voices are VERY similar
Thanks for the heads up. I thought it sounded a bit different, but I chalked it up to being a live version. Lol. Good 63 year old ear here it seems.
Лейк очень уважаем, но он не для этой группы RIP
"Only time will tell" by Asia, was my listen to over & over again while crying my heart out after a break up song when I was in grade 8.
Those were the days.........lol
Phanti1000 :)
Touching song
Who would dare break up with such a cutie? Their loss.
Same here. As a young man entering high school when this was released, it summed up all of those emotions.
Asia was Yes meets ELP. Great band.
Don’t forget the Buggles
@@11bbang asia = king crimson, ELP, YES, and the buggles..
Awesome job, that Greg Lake did on vocals. He's definitely the best prog rock singer along with John Wetton.
Lake and Wetton always seemed kind of interchangeable somehow :)
Small correction to your comment : Greg Lake is THEE BEST Prog Rock singer, THEEEE BEST!!!❤❤
This band was known for be meticulous, melodic, and AWESOME!
RIP Greg Lake....love your voice.....
RIP Gregory Lake, Keith Emerson and John Wetton!!!
This is the best version I’ve heard of this live... I didn’t even realize the singer changed.
My favorite song by Jimmy Pacheco from the Smith Brothers Band back in the 80's at Alhambra's Nite Club in Westport, Mass.. Great band and Smitty the drummer sounded just like Steve Perry. GREAT BAND!!!!!!!!
Asia filled our hearts with sentimental music when we needed.
Greg, so gorgeous. Great guitar playing and the most beautiful voice. Will miss you and john
The musicianship on that stage is undoubtedly high!
No one can sing this like John Wetton.
Other than Greg Lake, as this video clearly proves.
Nothing like ELP, but equally fantastic!!!💯💯💯💯
A band that made a LOT of beautiful noise in the 80s💟😎
This song reminds me of being on vacation in 1982, at Virginia Beach......great live version! Love the lyrics
i was at the 1 st ASIA show in the spring of 1982 .It was in Potsdam N.Y. I was in college and did a paper about the show and got a B, my teather was a big fan of Yes
That Greg Lake was a pretty good dog gone singer, he truly will be missed.ll
Greatest song in 1982. Love it forever. RIP John.
Exactly, I see people complaining about Lake's voice here and at the "Heat Of The Moment" video. Complete bull, it's a live performance and I absolute love it!
two years before I was born and I do love this performance
MTV carried the concert live. I remember watching it. It was called Asia live in Asia.
@pasqualedavino4 You write than a moron
sigh. RIP John and Greg. And Keith for that matter.
Very Sad Day this Was My teenage Years Rest in peace John Wetton
Tears from this song taking me directly back to the time...R.I.P. John W. 🙏💕
A truly Epic song!
Quanta saudades de um tempo glorioso do rock, tínhamos ótimos cantores, bandas e acima de tudo letras, arranjos.
Great song great band and the gymnast who in the video jumped over TV's, was time of awesome music
WONDERFUL - ASIA AT FIRST TIME (my year 1982) - Many thanks you for upload ! Love U

@@hubbsllc Oh, thanks for the info. He was quite the talented man.
I could listen to Greg Lake sing the phone book and love it!!!
Algum brasileiro ouvindo esse som maravilhoso em fevereiro de 2021 ?
Total greatness
RIP John🌹
love this band thanx for this adorable tune :
One of my favorite songs every
Greg is in great voice here.
Only if you've never heard the song, before ... Is nowhere near as good, as sharp, or as strong as Wetton's voice.
@@analystzorncasteel3047 Hey troll you're all alone in that assessment, back to the basement.
Hey deaf person - I'm in the majority of Asia fans
~ Back to the hospital, where they had you in 48 hour lockdown (Which your ex-girlfriend says you never shoulda been let out).
Zorn Casteel perhaps, but Wetton left, and Lake was kind enough to step in.
Nice of Lake to fill in but you've got to be kidding...he chops phrases short (poor breath control), lacks the range to take it up in the higher register like Wetton's original, and was shockingly pitchy. Mediocre.
One of my favourite songs!
I love ASIA...even good with Carl singing...long live Asia!
Never noticed before the similarity of Greg and John's vocals, same range etc.....
Really not the same range. .. Greg's vocal approach on this track in particular was pathetic ... Compared to Wetton.
@@analystzorncasteel3047 - ASSHOLE MUCH.?
No he is tone deaf
@@marklarson3003 What the hell? How
Same range my ass what a joke lol .wetton is by far superior . And no knock on Greg Mr John wetton is Asia case closed

Uma das maiores Bandas de todos os tempos!
He's doing a really good job
Is a great version with Greg Lake.

FANTASTIC SONG!GREECE KEEP WALKING!!
La mejor guitarra que he escuchado grande Steve Howe
This sounds great, Thx.
It sucks to lose both of them.
I like Greg's slower version a whole lot. Great band.
Greg Lake on lead vocals, Carl Palmer on drums.
John Wetten on vocals
HokieDadave R.I.P. John Wetton.
Greg Lake.
Lake does a good John Wetton impression here.
HOLY FUCK, I freaked out when I noticed
METAL GEEAAARR!
rip John Wetton
I've always liked Greg Lake and admired him filling in here, but hey - let's be honest. His voice is not meant for Asia and John Wetton's not for ELP.
Great band ,preferred the studio versions.
Wow! Just wow!
Can we just accept that King Crimson itself is such a super group that all members have a greatness...
I have just begun to discover the details of all the music from previous generations; In my opinion John’s voice is stronger (comes from a deeper place within), however Greg’s voice has much more finesse and a richer timbre that makes it easier to listen to. But I admit to bias because I love Greg!
Saudosa época pqp :(
Eu sou brasileiro
Bons tempos!!!
'it was, the heat of the moment...
Only Time Will Tell......
❤
I loved going to concerts! Then the cell phone was invented. Look at how these people are enjoying themselves!
Love this song!!!!!
Yes, it was a perfect year for every 18-year-old Dragon !: :)))
No, Steve Howe was not part of Owner of A Lonely Heart... that song came out in 1983. Howe was not in Yes at that time.
Es una versión aceptable al estilo de Greg Palmer. No se puede comparar con Jon Wetton
@bdysrf I agree .... And so did the band, and record company; Wetton came back.
Big boss
this is my first look at this video. very good. greg lake is outstanding as singer and a far better musician than wetton in my opinion.
