I believe that's Thom Gimbel on sax (awesome) and Mark on drums. correct me if I'm wrong -- Foreigner music will live forever. Nope not Thom Gimbel -- Lou says "Mark ......... please on sax"-- can't hear last name -- anyone? Not in any of the credits anywhere.
I hear ya. I love both, but this one is harder-edged taking it up a few notches for sure. The other biggest difference is the sax being used throughout here, rather than only in the early part, and of course the classic solo. I saw them in 1981 at the Inglewood Forum and it was more like the record. It was wonderful of course, but seeing this one from Germany for the first time in 2024, kind of made the song all new, all over again for me.
Well yes, absolutely. Unfortunately it was also the "final" Foreigner album in the classic Foreigner tradition of the previous 3. Mick Jones took the band in a really direction starting in 1984, effectively turning them into Journey. They turned off millions of fans 40 years ago, never to get them back, including myself. Having said that, the first 4 albums are golden with me and always will be. What happened after '4' had/has nothing to do with those, of course.
I was 14. I bought the album with babysitting money and it blew me away. Especially this song. I was in love with Lou Graham. Then I saw him on video and thought. Wait, he's not suppose to look like that. I had imagined someone younger like me and dark hair, tan face, deep eyes. Lol. The voice should have matched the most sexy man I could imagine!
@@xwind1970 That's Mark Rivera (currently with Billy Joel's band) playing sax here. He also played the verses and other flourishes on the original studio recording of this song! (Junior Walker did play the killer sax SOLO on the original recording though...)
He's so fantastic. On top of that he throws in friendly gestures to the audience he appreciates them. He definitely feeds off of the audience/fan's energy, for sure.
There is something so genuin about the timber of Grahams vocals. Besides the fact that he is totally killing it with his energy, pitch, and rytmical perfection. The epitome of a stadium rock vocalist. He is the voice of Foreigner without a doubt. Impossible to be replaced. A legend and a voice of a generation.
I was the 'singer' in a band with my brother back in the 80s, this is exactly how i perceived my vocals, unfortunatly I was alone in this perception or deception, a boy can dream, Lou Gramm rocks, one of the greats, not too sure about I want to know what love is though, still it worked big time.
You would not be the only one. What a gift to be able to belt out deep emotions by singing. Unfortunately, while I mean well, I sound like a macaw in heat.
The saxophonist is worth his weight in gold. He's played with many of the top artists. At least, I recognize him from other videos. Just a fantastic performer.
If you didn't know that Lou Gramm was the F'N MAN before, you damn well know it now! Man, would I love to go back in time to experience a classic Foreigner concert!
Not to brag--OK, I'm bragging--I saw Foreigner at Madison Square Garden four times (each of their first four albums), and Junior Walker was the sax player on this song during the FOUR tour. Yeah, it was as good as you imagine.
*BUUUUZZZZZZ* That is INCORRECT!! He is NOT one of the greatest rock voices of all time. He is one of the greatest voices of all time, of ANY musical genre, not just rock-n-roll.
Most top vocalists take lessons regularly, some even bring trainers on the road. Doesn't detract from their natural talent, and can extend the life of their voices as many have bad vocal habits that sound good but can kill their voices down the line
@@RideAcrossTheRiver 1. Layne Staley 2. Steven Tyler 3. Bonnie Tyler 4. Rod Stewart 5. Dee Snyder and I could literally go on and on. Almost all of the singers who are still successfully performing took lessons at some point, including Lou.

@@teribaker5833: Just out of curiosity, what is the name of the regional band you mention?

lou Gramm sings like a god and mark on sax is unbelievable
agree..but Junior walker is a God!
@@colin6769 Mark Rivera maybe
@@colin6769 At the end, Lou gives a shout out to Mark Rivera on sax.

I prefer this live version over the original. I love the energy!!! It kicks ass!!
Foreigner clearly on the top of their game here....
without a doubt, killing it
My man is rockin that sax!!!
Thats Junior Walker of "Junior Walker and the All Stars", his intensity causes everyone on stage to ramp it up.
He is unbelievable
Wow just wow!!!
The live version is much much better.
Lou sings with his whole body. ❤. His voice is unmistakable!! Love you Lou. 🎉❤🎉
Lou Gram has such a powerful voice!! One of a kind!!
Foreigner 4 was one of the albums to have in the early 80s. Lou Gramm is a beast!
Lou Gramm best! I am from Russia and I listened foreinger in 1982, and is now happy to listen. I returned to my youth!
Have to make another comment.
What an amazing use of the saxophone.
Playing air guitar on a Sax is next level being into the moment 2:08. Mark Rivera ladies and gents.
❤❤❤ Well, it doesn't get more intense than this one. Love it still in 2024🎉
Age of fourteen, I just don‘t know how often I‘ve pushed the rewind button on my Brothers cassette player,Killer Voice killer Sax❤
I was 17 then
If Lou can make love like he sings this song, I would definitely not be thinking of another guy!!! Love Lou. ❤
Lou graam a la altura de los mejores vocalistas de la historia !! Un fenomeno !! Para muchos el mejor !!
Never again will there be a voice like Lou, he is unique!
The great Mark Rivera on sax..
One of the great rock voices.
always loved that sax.. never see that anymore
vila salazar You know it’s an ‘80s tune when there’s a sax solo.
HARDEN MY HEART (QUARTER FLASH) is good too !
00:20 Who played the Saxophone for the band in 1982?
@@xwind1970 That's Mark Rivera (currently with Billy Joel's band) playing sax here. He also played the verses and other flourishes on the original studio recording of this song! (Junior Walker did play the killer sax SOLO on the original recording though...)
@@giorgiocanaliwithlove1919 such a great song!!
The best live performance with the original band I’ve ever heard. So badass. Loved this band. Thank you!
Lou Gramm is definitely a badass..he can rock hard but then also sound romantic and smooth..he excels in both styles .a true genius of voice.😊❤🎉
Excelente solo de Saxofón del Maestro Mark Rivera ...mis respetos y gran admiración...!
Oh liebe Gott! Was für eine wunderbare Stimme!
Yup,yes
Great Lou. One of the best voice of ever. And this live is......excellent.
"was"
why does Lou always looks like hes about to explode.. coke?
@aegisgfx Who knows, maybe he's just naturally intense when he sings and loves doing it.
mark rivera worlds most under appreciated saxophonist
He's so fantastic. On top of that he throws in friendly gestures to the audience he appreciates them. He definitely feeds off of the audience/fan's energy, for sure.

@@alex-j7u7l Yes, exactly.
They've got a killer vibe goin' on here. Everybody's in sync and sounds great.
Best rocking voice ever,Long Live the Man And the Legend.Lou Gramm
The rawness of his voice brings a hightened level that cannot be imitated!
The passion on that stage is unmatched!
Love this tour recording ! That sax and Lou................whew that was so good !!
Atleast you went for it, cheers!
Probably the best Sax solo in rock history.
💐👏Bravo 4 real🎷
His name is Mark Rivera, from Brooklyn New York.
@@peterkanev3660 Thanks for the info.
@@beksbrat No problem, glad to see talent being appreciated! You should also check his collaborations with Billy Joel! Cheers and enjoy!
If you didn't know that Lou Gramm was the F'N MAN before, you damn well know it now! Man, would I love to go back in time to experience a classic Foreigner concert!
Yeah. I mean they weren't AC/DC or Metallica or Guns but they weren't bad for a pop band
@@tonyiacomi4822 Not a pop band. They were a rock band that had crossover appeal. The first 3 albums especially were pure rock albums.
@@MarcusFenix50 I agree
Not to brag--OK, I'm bragging--I saw Foreigner at Madison Square Garden four times (each of their first four albums), and Junior Walker was the sax player on this song during the FOUR tour. Yeah, it was as good as you imagine.
My favorite Band when I was young, wow 41 Years ago. Still rocks.
One of the greatest rock voices EVER in my opinion. Hell of a band also - Foreigner ROCKS!!!!
*BUUUUZZZZZZ*

He is one of the greatest voices of all time, of ANY musical genre, not just rock-n-roll.

@@stephenobrien1505 yup!💯
This is Foreigner's best song and nobody can sing it better than the gorgeous and talented Lou Gramm.❤ Love this man, love this song!!.❤❤❤❤😊
Agree...
Lou is just an Incredible Natural Singer...No Vocal Lessons here...Just Pure Feeling and Class..Love It :)
Most top vocalists take lessons regularly, some even bring trainers on the road. Doesn't detract from their natural talent, and can extend the life of their voices as many have bad vocal habits that sound good but can kill their voices down the line

Top band . Thank god l can still listen to music like this.
I was eleven years old back than and my older brother Steve Carrillo (RIP) took me to my very first concert in Los Angeles to see Foreigner at The Fabulous Forum and my fondest memory of that night to this day was "Jukebox Hero" and seeing that giant thing look like it exploded at the end and as a kid it was pure magic. Great tune, one of many. Those Dortmund folks were lucky to have see this one!
