As a DC5 track car owner myself it’s so sad to see less and less of these in good condition and on track. Often times I go to track days I am the only one in a DC5 and it makes me sad. Bumpsteer isn’t that bad in my car tho, sadly it gave the car a bad rep. I’ve kept up/slapped up a few other cars on track that I should have no business even being close too.
What I’ve learnt so far owning and tracking one:
    1. I agree with you on the ride height, the more you lower it the worst it becomes. Mines lowered by 1.5 inches and it still rides very close to stock.
    2. SHG rack slider, honed development rack raiser and adjustable inner tie rods are the way to go(M&M racing/DVrace/PCI)
    3. Hard race roll center correction ball joints.
    5. Ktuned front lower control arms
    6. 14k/20k spring rates seems to be the best rates to run for a track car.
    7. Stiffer rear sway bar is a must.
    8. I currently have a 8th gen Si LSD in my car and it’s okay not great. Will be upgrading to a MFactory and a 5.1FD.
    9. Most coilover brands do not know how to make a coil for this car, stay away from any coilover brand that has the arm point out straight. So far I’ve found that yellow speed is the best brand for this car. Check out the UK guys that’s racing these EP3’s and DC5’s you will see they are all running yellow speeds and those cars on pace with the older 90’s civics.
    10. Adjustable coilover/top hat that allows for front caster adjustments is clutch.
    Plans for the future:
    1. K24 swap
    2. MFactory diff
    3. 5.1FD
    4. Sort out the rear suspension bushings
    5. Install the yellow speed caster and camber adjustment top hats.
    6. Cool aero and ofc a big ol winggg
    7. Sunroof delete
    8. Bolt in cage

"It's got a whole lot of bumpsteer." As a EP3 owner this got me so bad 😂. DC5s and EP3s are great cars.

Also at the end there I am sure that is a maxima at 12:12. Love seeing the odd stuff on track.

Great coverage and in depth of the geometry was very interesting as I always wondered about the layout hearing criticism but never explained fully. I don't have my rsx anymore but it was a nice trip down memory lane. Looking forward to the next project of yours.

Thats my RSX pictured at 11:39. I have owned it for 12 years and still enjoy every moment of it.

Love the knowledge you impart and the skills you have driving. Wish you were closer so I could visit the track you run. Thanks for doing great videos.

Are the FA5 Civic Si effected by the same issues with lowering?

No the 8th gen has the steering rack mounted low with a better steering geometry

    • @DriversPaddock
      @DriversPaddock  วันที่ผ่านมา

The 8th gens are the first gen with really sorted suspension geometry. Front double wishbone and the steering rack is mounted low. They don’t have these issues.

@@DriversPaddockThe 8th gens came with Macpherson struts as well but have the better steering design. 7th gen Civics featured the same suspension and steering design as the DC5, so the cars from 01 to 05 like EP3, EM2, ES1/ES2.

@@DriversPaddock no it is just mac strut on the 8th gen...not that great

@@frankchang7454 its a lot better than the RSX though since the steering arm is connected to the knuckle and not the damper. I've had an RSX track car and currently have an 8th gen, while its not the glory days of the double wishbones of the 90's hondas, its a big step up from the RSX minivan front suspension

what do you mean "derived" from the integra? its literally the same car

K20A vs. K20A2, LSD vs. open diff, Brembo brakes, brake ducts, the entire interior, sway bars, shifter bushings, lower arms, rear strut bar, RHD vs. LHD and more, are different.

@@DriversPaddock you're talking the difference between trim levels... we just didn't get the Type R here. There are non-Type R Integras in Japan
