I've got a dc5 and its a rust bucket, had to weld the floor underneath near rear and inside one of the wheel arches and also both outside rear wheel arches
i worked at an engineering company that made a lot of parts for this car its funny recognising the suspension parts shifter parts and even engine mounts. Great car
i was fortunate enough to be at that engine building company building and rebuilding those engines along with carrying out the circuit support and development work under the guidance and instruction of my employer at the time. Great years with dynamics especially 05-06, good team, good drivers, good car and a good reliable engine that made slightly more than you claim. A key part being it not only had a bit more but also peak power was at 8100-8200 with peak torque right at the 7000 the drivers got to full throttle on corner exit.
There is an interview between Plato and Neil, where Plato complained about these Integra's being too fast. I've had the pleasure of K20 in a DC5 and an Aerial Atom (supercharged), fantastic engine.
So good that theres still one around and the time has been taken to put the original livery back on it. Brings back some good memories of being at thruxton the day it took 3 wins
K20 has got to be a contender for best 4 cylinder N/A turbo and Supercharged we will miss this stuff in the future. Get some while you can and keep them.....
Love my V8s but this little pocket rocket is an absolute gem of a race car. My goodness it sounds wicked, cool graphics & a nice paint job to match. Great vid mate! 👍
That intro was Incredible, the voice clips with the angles of the car put a smile on my face really gives it a story and personality right out of the gate. Just subscribed to the channel can’t wait to dive deeper.
All that technology for just 275bhp as nowadays there’s loads off Hondas running nearly or around that bhp ,, great car and only wish I could win the lottery 👍
With a restrictor for the regulations... 8500rpm limit, compression limit, exotic materials ban and locked Toca ECU I believe. 275hp isn't peak ... its 275hp across a wide range. That's the skill of tuning a racing car instead of a dyno queen or drag car.
@@garysimpson8860 that's always the case with an aspirated application. The Japanese were pulling 260+ hp out of 1.6l 4 bangers in the 90s but went thru crazy amounts of r&d
I doubt it only bc many manufacturers had a similar system mivec, vvti ect now they may have done a vtec killer cam setup regardless only bc where they are mostly in high rpm
@@hondamanvtec2894 that's not true f1 engines use vvti and now there are even variable lift and duration now I would say in drag racing there isn't much point bc you should be geared to stay at peak torque shifting a bit after peak hp otherwise circut racing you can easily fall out of power range
Depending on where you inject the fuel in the intake manifold or trumpets you can optimize low down torque or peak horsepower. Close to the cilinder head means more power at lower rpm. Further away at the start of the intake manifold usually means higher peak performance. It has to do with fuel atomisation.
Oh cool! Thanks for the info @@mitchiegxxr350. I have another quick question if you dont mind. Do you know if its worth while playing with the injector placement for a street legal track build that is capable of being daily driven or is this really only something I should be concerned with in a high end build? It looks really cool and I'm a huge fan of crude but purposful looking parts so I might want to eventually make an intake manifold like this one for my personal rice rocket even if its solely for looks. Obv only if it donest totally hamper the drivability on the road ofc
@@ioverdoneit of you replace the intake manifold and/or alter the place where you inject the fuel you will need a standalone engine management or a decent ecu wich connects between the engine and standard ecu. I suppose you want to upgrade using bolt on parts? Exhaust, throttle bodies etc? A good standalone ecu will be one of the most cost effective things you can do. Not cheap tho.. also depends on what engine you plan on tuning. Naturally aspirated or turbo? Big differences in getting power from the engine.
@@mitchiegxxr350 I intend on getting a K pro for my car and having some dyno work done once I have the swap in. It depends, bolt-ons would be nice since I dont have much experience making parts yet however I also dont have a big budget so I intend on learning to work with composites and will hopefully be able to make my own parts at some point. I have a friend whos willing to help me make a 3 inch exaust system and seam weld my chassis so I have that sorted. Ideally I want to get an aftermarket throttle body however its not really going to be of much advantage to me yet since Im still running an A3 head (shitty iVTEC) and 9.8:1 compression.
@@ioverdoneit alot of upgrade parts available for the Kseries. Should be no problem if you have someone help you picking the right parts. Exhaust and intake plus ecu are the first steps you need to take. Anything to make the engine breathe better. Do not forget that if you go for big power the low rev power will go away. I race in a rallycross series in belgium. Citroen saxo 1600cc. 225hp naturally aspirated. It has no power until it hits 6000rpm. The fun stops at 9500rpm. Have fun with your build.

How much the HP limit rule in btcc?
Is it still for sale?

Hi James I remember you at NB we run the civic in 2008 with Doyle and I raced with nick #47
I’m honestly not a DC5 fan, but man this thing just have an appeal to it that’s PERFECT.
Amazing stuff! It's incredible to see what a real race team can do... would have loved to see more on the suspension bits.
Love this! 275whp K20 is the dream!

I love this so much because my race car is also a DC5 Type R ❤
Cool. Where do you race? Assetto, Forza or iRacing?
Wow your right, plato said they were just so quick. Amazing cars. Suprised they didn't need 4 doors etc
Not the best BTCC era but this is probably the iconic car of that period.

Thank you for the feedback! We're glad you enjoyed it!
15:49 the best sound ever. sums btcc up in one clip for me
beautiful build. Team dynamic wheels look great..
Thanks for reminding me that 2005 was 17 years ago.😢
Awesome, BTCC cars are total animals
DC5 still one of the best looking honda car imho
Amazing stuff, thanks for sharing!
So Cool well done everyone!
This car's on the cover of Four Stroke Performance Tuning by A. Graham Bell
So cool! Thanks for sharing.
Hope you can share a view of the exhaust manifold
Im surprised there's no underbody aero, was it not allowed in the regs?
What a perfect sounding machine 🤤
Any specs for the exhaust? Size, material etc ?
Fun fact: Jason Plato hated those Teggys.
The only FWD GT car 😂
I grew up down the road from Dan Eaves parents. Lovely people!
Never heard of "Honder" before.
Wow absolutely gorgeous 😍

Wherever that guy went for the Xtrac service has had his pants pulled down
Very interesting. Is that dc5 still using the McPherson strut design ?
its only couple of years ago the k20 started to make 275 plus. Back in 2005 this number must have been crazy! with a restrictor too
You got love a k20 especially with 275 bhp i need this power in my mr2
Its really really cool!!
Very beautiful car. 💛🖤💛🖤💛
Would I be right in saying that the VTEC system has been removed as per the regulations? NBE are masters at their work on building race engines.
I doubt it only bc many manufacturers had a similar system mivec, vvti ect now they may have done a vtec killer cam setup regardless only bc where they are mostly in high rpm
Likely. They would have had an 8500 rpm rev limit. The vtec wouldn't have been to much use really
They'd have lived in that high of an rpm anyway. I'm sure these use too rev to 9.5k plus in btcc
No Vtec
There is no point with vtec in a racing machine

What’s the cable lever on the side of the shifter at 10:25 used for?
Danny dc2 and Kevin need a rip in this if they aint free ill fill in please.
275hp?! It's f'kin rapid! 🤣
Anyone know why the fuel rail is so far down the intake manifold? Genuinely curious to if there was something to gain by doing that
