Would the NT510 scanner work on cars without the original ECU?
I have a BMW E46 M3 ABS installed on a Chevy race car.
I need to get a scanner that will allow me to bleed the MK60 ABS.
But there's no VIN or anything attached to the OBD2 port. Since it's not used on a BMW anymore.
It very good scanner I have it for four years now and I am using it with my BMW as I do the service by my self. Great scanner.
Note please. Its not for coding but good for all bmw maintenance fault code readings and calibrating and re learning.
From some of my readings it seems the bmw modules in particular are somewhat large in size comparatively speaking. And the BMW specific modules are not stored in the readers memory but to an external SD card. So each time the BMW specific modules are run the data must first be read off the card before the reader can do its thing. I have read that at one point Foxwell were using somewhat slower memory cards and that copying the data off the card to a faster SD card could help some with the speed issues. I'm not sure if this is the case but I have a unit coming soon to help a friend work on his f30 335i and will give it a try slapping a different memory card in and seeing if the reading speeds improve.
Thanks for your review i just purchased this item for use on my 2012 750li, i replaced the rdc antenna and it needs to be coded, is this unit capable of coding this module?

False! No it can't. It can register same type but you can't code for different Ah etc.

Question my VDC1 module went bad and I have to replace and recode its 450 for the VDC 1 aftermarket was curious if I can use this to code instead of doing it at a shop for 2200
Great video. This scanner has many faults, however - for the price I don’t believe you can get more for your money. I dunno if the updates mean anything if your BMW is not a new model, cuz you need a Windows computer to update it - not other way to do it & I don’t have a Windows computer. So, if you plan on updating it or adding another manufacturer - plan on buying a Windows computer if you don’t have one
I purchased the GM version, can I install software to make it also for BMW?

I just got one of these for my Honda. Why only 3 icons across? Mine is the same. EVERY OTHER picture I see of this model shows 4 icons across. Just curious.

I know I'm 11 months late, but I own this reader and a BMW, and to be honest with you, I don't think you can code with this. I do know there is an app, at least for Android, that you can code, but it's expensive. Hope this helps.

I do not recommend this thing unless you want to constantly be forced to buy update software. Their site is not user friendly. Customer support is non existent. Don’t waste your money.

What if you have the Schwaben version of the Foxwell 510 pro/elite? I had got the scan tool second hand. And it will not let me register or update the firmware/software. It hasn't been updated since it was purchased by in 2016! Is there a way to do the update with out purchasing updates?
