Hello, in this video I review the NT710 BMW scanner by Foxwell. I am really really amazed with this scan tool. I myself am not a BMW technician, so to be able to find modules and live data and activations as easily as I did was great. This truly is a good little scan tool that I recommend to anyone of all levels of experience. You cant go wrong with this one and it provides lifetime free updates!

Got this for myself for Christmas last year, with the Toyota and Honda software, after alot of research. Great little unit, still figuring out all it can do, not cheap but not expensive when you look at the cost per hour in a shop. Great review!

Hey mate looking for something to read E53 X5s including live data would this be capable?
I love this scanner but I had a weird thing happen where EPS light and engine light started flashing at idle and then when I went to the control module screen to get multiple fault codes and hit erase it reset the whole PCM or ECM. Scared the heck out of me.
Does it shut and open evap vent solenoid and purge valves for hondas😊
Comprei recentemente um NT710 da foxwell, entretando na barra de diagnóstico nao aparece as marcas,modelos e nem sistema. Só ler DTC.

When I go to teach the transmission it asks me to go to reverse drive park neutral I did that it won't accept the code that's when I realized that you can't code with this **** thing so if you have any suggestions on what I should do cause I have a flashing malfunction the sign in my car won't start what I should do I never had any transmission problems before this
Why would you have even entered that if there was no issue……… also thats not a coding. Its a transmission range sensor learning so it learns the correct gear selection positions

They are actually pretty accurate within 1-2 mpg depending on how often you reset it. Easy to test. Fill tank, reset Indicator. Drive to half talk roughly. Fill tank, then divide miles driven by fuel filled that will

I see the BMW says Chassis stabilization did you know what was wrong with the vehicle? I just got that light on my car. Not sure what it is. It says chassis stabilization drive moderately, but doesn’t affect the car performance at all.
Nothing was wrong with the vehicle I scanned. Often times there will be codes with no symptoms. You will have to have the car scanned to get the codes to know what to do from there. Best of luck.
Ya know. I have never had a BMW. All I hear is horror stories about Mercedes and BMW on expeneive parts, vehicles falling apart, labor expensive etc. I wondeer how true that is. I seen some BMW's that look beautiful that I would not mind owning but too scared to. Inever take my cars to a repair shop unless I have exhausted all options or it's simply a job too big for me. I have the Autel 808. Seems to work great so far but never tested it on BMW. I do wish you had the opportunity to test out these scanners on other brands.
There is nothing that does compare to driving certain Mercedes and BMW’s . As long as you are aware that finding a qualified experienced tech is gonna cost you and so will the parts, or youre gonna have to learn how to work on them, they are not problematic cars they are just expensive to maintain for no reason at all other than the names. I personally dont fond value in cars. They are consumables. So its hard for me personally to justify a 1800$ over a 40$ for my dodge van. If and when they fail. Especially when I have kids to take care of. But that’s my personal preference. When all my kids are grown, and I can afford to throw money away on things like cars, heck yeah id love to own so many nice ones. But once you drive one you’ll never wanna go back to a chevy or toyota.
I have a Mercedes C 300. IMO, they do cost more to maintain but they don’t break down as much. They don’t seem to be overly difficult to work on, for the things that I would do i.e. alternator power steering struts. I replaced the front driveshaft and drive shaft bearing. It wasn’t that bad. In that regard they seem to be cost-effective. Also, I love driving it. I plan to get 500,000 miles on mine.

Depends on your intentions, but xtool for cost if youre just worried about 1 make of car. Or try icarsoft v3.0 for toyota 🤷🏼♂️

Yes, true , but a lot of scanners are going this way it seems. Some may only use scanners on personal cars and only own 2-3 brands so it may be cheaper to buy ala cart. It all depends on the person’s needs

I believe so as it can activate whatever the modules can activate
Hi, I've been speaking to sellers of this item and thought I'd check your video out, I understand you can change the system to buy other vehicles because I need it for a honda. Any idea about gearbox learning procedures etc? Cheers
I have not personally used it on a honda but with the capability I seen with the bmw I fully believe if there’s a factory function to relearn a transmission then this I would think would do it as well.

HEY I BOUGHT THAT N710 It erased the gear ratio on my Mercedes-benz while the engine was running I turned the engine off returned back to the car and now it's in immobilizer mode and won't start

Nothing can erase the gear ratio. But if youre not careful you can wipe out the drive authorization info. If that was done you will need to have the dealer replace the transmission control unit
@@MasterTechLou It says driver authorization activated as well I **** with that **** but I see what you're talking about but the cars seem like it's stuck in reverse or something like I guess when it shook I don't know if this immobilized mode because I do see that it says let limp mode home activated mode and it says immobilize but it said driver authorization activated but the car won't start but yeah the scanner it says teach in transmission Rain sensor and when I try to do that it says that it clears the cold and then you know erase the cold then when I scan it again the code is still there it's a permanent sensor but it won't teach it in or it won't erase the code p2008
@@MasterTechLou No after that II stopped talking with the scanner everything that as far as that driver Authorization iit say activated I see all that stuff which you're talking about you could play that **** but I'm not doing it it just keeps saying transmission right sensor range sensor Not taught in Even when I tried to teach it in it won't do it it is the permanent p2008 code
Would like to hear your opinion of a Topdon Artidiag600s. At the moment I am torn between foxwell and TOPDON.
Not sure what model foxwell youre looking at but this one in the video blows away the topdon 600. The 600 looks to be an decent scanner but not near the functions of the nt710.
@@MasterTechLou yes I was half expecting that as there is almost $100 difference between the two on ebay. I was building high performance engines in the 70's and some dealership work in the late 80's. Had very little exposure to OBD2 but still like to do my own car work where possible. I think that a good obd2 scanner should be part of every tool box, a decent set of spanners can cost $200 - $300. Not much good if you don't know where to apply them.

@@MasterTechLou fantastic Lou, my understanding is that the foxwell nt710 is probably achieves more functions but if I wasn't too concerned about functions I would rarely or never use then the Topdon Artidiag600s would be the best value for money choice. My current vehicles are Ford territory sz diesel v6 and Holden VE Commodore. I prefer to work on these cars myself where ever possible. So if I don't need a 10 ton press or a hoist I do any maintenance /repairs. In the last 20 years if you don't have a scan tool you can cause more problems ($$$) than fixes. I look forward to seeing your review!

Can it run a DMTL test? That function seems to be almost as rare as hen's teeth in the "cheap" prosumer scan tool range.
Im not fluent in BMW, what is a DMTL test?
@@MasterTechLou Diagnostic Module for Tank Leakage. It is BMW's evap monitoring solution. The DMTL pump pressurizes the tank and measures the loss. The DMTL test will force the OBDII evap monitor to complete. I got a response on Amazon saying the NT710 can do it but the NT809BT can't. Foxwell tech support says my car doesn't support the function at all. Launch and Topdon do support the function on older models but not mine; I suspect that is the case for Foxwell too but Foxwell doesn't provide a breakdown like the other two as far as I can tell.
@@AlanBurnham ah gotcha we just started using those in mercedes but I have experience with audi/vw and those. I wish I had the answers but I have no bmw to plug into and check for you. My apologies. If I get lucky to try one I will update.

@@siyingwang2174 you said ads and then abs, if its suspension sometimes aftermarket ones wont read suspension. Try manually selecting different years or models to try and trick the scanner.

More generic tools like this usually use generic parts. You can probably find a new battery for it somewhere

How do you love it and you barely know how to use it
Because I have enough experience to know when a product is junk or not. I been doing this a long time, I know how to use scanners, I dont know how to speak fluent bmw with them. Theres a difference. The foxwells I have for BMW are really very good units for what they can do. I hope that answers your question……….
Only good for BMW, need to pay $60-100 USD for each extra brand, can only add one extra at a time, PASS
