    That was enjoyable. Boat lift was closed when we were there no nice to be able to see what it was like. Your map with the arrows looked like a second British invasion 😁👍. Very good keep them coming.

    This brought back happy memories of holidays in France back in the 70s.
    The last time I saw a copy of "La voix du Nord," it was hanging on a nail in an outhouse. 😁
    It's the French equivalent of ""Izal Medicated," but with the added bonus of something to read while you're in there. (If you speak French.)

      We were brought up with "Izal Medication" toilet roll. Why ????? Left myself and my brother traumatised. Happily I have just read they ceased selling it in 2010. Jane 😊

      There is an ancient art to spider whispering- tapping on his web so he thinks he has caught something is one technique - I later found we had two in the same wing mirror

    Haha, yes I relate to the funny accent when I’m in another country, it’s so weird! Lol! Thanks for including the ‘trickery’ of driving on a different side of the road! I’ve not come across that before. All I’ve seen in the past is people seamlessly swapping from one side of the road in diff countries without a word. ( though maybe I haven’t watched too many van life videos! ). But I will say you are giving me the courage to seriously consider a driving trip to Europe, when the RHDriving is the thing that put me off! So thankyou very much!😊. Also, could you please explain what an ‘air’ is & the difference between that & the Park4Night. Cheers, safe travels & Happy NY to you both. Melbourne Oz🇦🇺

      @getawaygeese  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First and most important welcome to the channel and thanks for watching and commenting
      It was our first time in Harry driving on the other side so a lot of concentration going on until we got used to it - if we can do it so can you 👍🚐
      Regarding Park4night that is an app you can download and useful in Europe that people record places to stop - most of them are free with no restrictions but also has other useful info like water points etc
      An Aire tends to be a European term for an area and in van life you get aires that are free some looked after by the local authority that is an allowed place to stop. You often get water and waste points. Some there may be a charge to stop the night
      Hope that makes sense

    Hi Jane and Del boy, monge too. That was an impressive looking boat lift, have you ever been to the one at Falkirk? The Falkirk wheel is great, and plenty of paths for a walk. I can see you two putting on a pound or two with all the great looking cake on offer. Bonjure amigos.

      Thanks for commenting and watching glad you enjoy - I always feel we’re a bit one dimensional on the cooking but we never get bored- the answer is no as I often just make things up to so no two meals are identical - I do plan sharing the pilaf meal in detail as it’s a big favourite of ours

    Great episode! If you are back next year, try and include 2 days in Puy du Fou, a superb historical theme park a few hours south of Paris. The WW1 trench exhibition is excellent, they built a real Roman Colliseum and run chariot races, Christians v Lions and Gladiators etc. The night time light show (ballet on water!) is amazing too.

      @@getawaygeese no problem! You need two days because it's impossible to see all the shows in one.
      There is a typucial French aire type area walking distance from the park. No el. hook-up, but water/sewage dump etc. ( fee applies). Tickets not quite Disney price levels, but not far off, either.
      Bring your own food and snacks for the day.

    Another fabulous video Jane & Stew. Yes it's one of the grey areas of post-war morality that Wernher helped put Americans on the moon after working on V2s, Nazi to NASA. The alternative to the Americans taking German rocket scientists to the US is that the Soviets would have used them back in the USSR (queue the song) on the Soyuz programme & other military ballistics work that would have changed the world as we know it today. I always find it an uncomfortable reminder that the Saturn V rocket and V2 were black and white. Did NASA inherit spare cans of paint at the end of WW II?
