Great review Doug! By the way , regarding the kick plate, originally we didn't offer artwork for it because most of the original X-Men cabinets just had a black kick plate but nowadays people want a full wrap so we improvised and used the X-Men '97 graphic since we couldn't find any high quality matching artwork.
@@jamesstegenga383 not with the emulator edition controller in this review, but our upcoming Pro controller works with the Xbox. It will be available soon.
had one of these like 8 years ago.. built like a tank.. had to sell since we moved into a smaller home.. regretted it ever since then.. they make quality stuff!
I have had this same cabinet since 2018. It has held up great... i have only had to open up the control panel once to tighten a few buttons. I would recommend a few things that i would consider when you buy. Consider a 4k monitor if you want to apply hlsl/video filters (crt masks, monitor curvature, pixel blooming etc... the more pixels you have, the better the effects will be. I would also consider installing rubber slider feet or molding on the base at build time... you want to protect the base panels if you have a wood/tile floor. The spinner can be used as a steering wheel if you want to play driving games... not ideal, but it works.
I’ve had my RecRoomMasters cabinet before Arcade1up was even a thing. Amazing quality. 7 years and still in perfect working order. I’ve had Carlos’s PC hyperspin build. Really want to order new one that has more power and modern games. No rush. Still works perfectly.
Very cool! You might remember me commenting in the past but I learned from you a couple of years ago how to mod my arcade1up pinball. That kick started by arcade at home journey. But also brought me to Carlos with his Arcade-One builds. I got the pinball build from him and then some months later after I built the pinball, I started to build an arcade cab. Rec Room Masters had closed their doors at that time. So I purchased an empty cab from TAG and added my own components along with Carlos's 8TB arcade build. After that Carlos bought the rights to Rec Room Masters and brought it back from the grave. 🙂 Definitely well made cabinets and much better than the TAG cab I had purchased. I recently got a RRM cab along with the emulator plus controller and built it out for my niece. She loves it! Glad to see you have a RRM cab now. 😉 I know you have many arcade software builds but if interested then I highly suggest checking out Carlos's Arcade-One builds. He does a lot of custom installers, mods, and scripts with his builds to make them as plug-n-play as possible. Like for Sinden guns for example, he has custom installers that automatically sets them up with all the emulators on his build. You won't find that with other builds out there. Anyway keep up the excellent work as always! 😎
I have a Rec Room masters cab love it! Though I have had mine for some years now and have the LED joysticks and buttons they use to offer which has an 8 way joystick that can convert to 4 way for games that require it. Comes in handy when changing games and knowing which buttons does what for each game. Plus I added a LED marquee that displays the original game marquee when changing games.
This is nice. Nowadays, you can get a home arcade feel pretty quickly with a digital pinball machine, a couple Arcade 1Ups for attraction screen ambiance, and multicade to scratch any Mame itch that strikes your fancy. This is a premium multicade.
I think I've found my solution in terms of needing to downsize (just isn't economical to have 11 Arcade 1UP Machines anymore). Thanks for always having the cleanest and most honest reviews..didn't need to go anywhere else after watching. Question: Do you use the Beelink to run Steam for some of the newer, "lighter" titles (Shredders Revenge) and does it keep you honest in terms of what it can be ran on the Xtension? I really want to stay with older/retro titles on the build...have a gaming laptop for newer stuff..but man, MvC Infinite & Beyond is the devil on my $houlder that would look really nice on a stand-up unit. Thanks sir :)
@@draf4504 yeah the beelink is running everything for me. This particular one is pretty robust and can run some decent modern titles. But for anything at 4k that’s something like Street Fighter 6 you’d definitely want a computer that had a dedicated cpu instead.

Yes eventually they will release more cabs. It's a process to start again especially with manufacturing and quality control. And I believe Carlos wants to do it right with each step. I know he's making improvements to the cabs as well over the previous owner's version. But thankfully he brought RRM back!
Is there a Wireless/Bluetooth version of usb Encoder. Idea is to have raspberry pi connected to back of TV, and a build of two wireless 6 button layout with 2 extra side buttons for virtual pinball. I hope I worded this to make sense with what I want to do.
I like having all these control options available, but the location of the 4-way and particularly the spinner, look very problematic. By any chance does that left flipper bat easily detach to allow access to the spinner? It really looks like it'd be in the way.
you can remove the left joystick bat but its not something that I would describe as easy, since you have to remove several screws and connections from underneath the control panel.
Is the bezel for sale now? That's the only gripe I had with my Xtension cab is there's no bezel and I'm too chicken to attempt painting the plexiglass.
Very cool! So my buddy Johnny told me Arcade One bought these guys, yeah? One site for computing power/games and game types the other site for the cabinets?
Depends on how much you want to spend. You can save hundreds by just going with a simple pc set up that’s older. I kind of went all out on my mini pc because I wanted to play some newer modern games as well as the older games.

Haha man I hate when artwork ideas don't flow well. I've seen TMNT cabinets that use the old cartoon on the side and then it'll have the style from the cgi movie in the 2000s on the front.
This just does not capture the arcade nostalgia for me. The Arcade1UP XL sized replica cabinets are just about perfect. They are the right size for the home. They are easy to repair, move, and mod. Unfortunately, they have only produced one worth owning. The Pac-man XL.
It looks cool but its not near as cool as your Rad! Paperboy! Its a nice machine though I had a Street Fighter II in a Dynamo cab that had the boards mounted to a slide out plate ynder the control panel. It was my favorite cabinet I have owned and wosh I wouldve held onto that one
It's definitely a smarter choice than spending $600 on an Arcade1up, then gutting it completely and modding it. I've seen a lot of folks doing that lately.
