    I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B

    I've used both. That 1:1 ratio is great, but it's harder to get in and out of it.
    The pit shark is about a 1.5-2:1 ratio, but it's better to get in and out of.

    I’m noticing the cable is bottoming out right when you reach parallel. Is there any adjustability for shorter and taller people?

    • @EliteThrowsCoaching
      @EliteThrowsCoaching 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s true but for $1800 there should be some way to adjust the cable or the weight post to accommodate taller and shorter athletes.

    • @norwaydbp
      @norwaydbp 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look at the leverage, the pitshark will be a plate hog. Not a 1::1 ratio of plates added to resistance felt.

    • @derekharshman2034
      @derekharshman2034 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bryce Lee I dont have a plate issue so that's not a problem in my case

    • @twirdman2
      @twirdman2 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@norwaydbp Yeah I measured the one at my gym and measuring from hole 2, the one I use for my height and foot position, the actual weight is about 50% of the loaded weight. The machine itself weighs 50 lbs empty. I love the machine but when I build my own gym I'd definitely at least consider getting one that is a 1:1 ratio. If you have the plates it isn't a big deal because the horns are more than big enough to accommodate super high weight and that is before considering the fact it also has band pegs but you need a lot of plates.

    We got ours together yesterday. Like Coop says it is awesome. Big fan of using it banded. If using it unbolted only secure the belt while standing on the platform. Putting the belt on and stepping up can cause instability and rocking at higher weight. We also attached J hooks to the front to do RDLs today. DB Push press was brutal with bands and some horn weight.

    My £360 Amazon power rack has central low and high pulley. A Reebok step on each side of the low pulley puts the mid foot over the pulley wheel. The sides of the rack are perfect support handles and two ratchet straps looped over the top of the rack and on to the loading pins provide the ideal starting and unloading position. Guess I've just saved $1,700 dollars and 6x5 feet of space then.

    Need some advice does the Rhino pull you forward a bit compared to Squat Max? Any knee pain issues due to this or those who have it like it? I keep going back and forth but for calf raises like the Rhino better, not planning on doing marches but its better I saw a guy squat down pick up slam ball and slam it down looks good for cardio and Rhino better for lunges. I suspect I might do one arm rows on it vs loading up my Baadass dumbell which takes too long.
    Anybody buy the Rhino and regret it, LOVE it?

  • @GFD472

    The quality & design look great just as one would expect from Rogue....However, I just don't get why the platform is so small?? The number of exercises Westside does in it's ATP is amazing and this is only possible by having a platform that is about 4' x 4'. A piece of equipment like this has so much potential for athletes why limit this factor by having a small platform that doesn't really allow for the training of sport specific foot work?? IMO they need to increase the training area to that of Westside's ATP with the cable coming up dead center. This would then allow both heavy strength training and lighter sports specific exercises & drills. Have a look at all the diverse training Louie and Westside have come up with for specific sports using the larger platform.
    You almost got it right Rogue. Fix the platform design (or offer a larger option) and it is a real winner....

    This would be an awesome addition to my home gym but Rogue priced me out on this one. A monster power rack and SS Yoke Bar is still more affordable than this. The drop in version is not much difference in cost to the stand alone. The rack version should have been $2000 to make sense. $2700+ is not worth considering for me.

    I really enjoyed this review! My local gym JUST got this same unit and I am loving it! I feel like I can squat again because I had to give it up due to my disc issues. One question though...when performing the movement does one need to be that much bent over or should they try to be tall when coming out of the hole? I'm noticing, in the video, that you look almost bent over.

    yea I was thinking about getting the rhino belt squat plus rack..the rack it's 24" but it looks like there is only about 4-5 inches of space from the front uprights ato the rhino platform on floor..i don't see how I can do incline, decline using a bench outside of rack? Right now I have a prx wall rack and when I do decline and incline bench I have to move the bench back about 13 inches so I can bench..I don't think I will be able to bench outside this rack with rhino built in to it:(
    I emailed rogue and they said that not even the 30" rack will work with a bench outside since it only has about 6-9 inches of space in the front:( so I don't know what they ment by me been able to lift outside of rack without a bench. Lol..
    Iam I supoused to bench, incline, decline standing up without bench. Lol I don't know what's the purpose of them selling it with rack if I can't really use rack not even outside of it?

    I already own a titan selectorized lat pull down, a selectorized funcional trainer and foldable titan rack also a stray dog goat with all the attachments.. Do you prefer the squat max over the rogue rhino? I was about to buy squat max but they don't have any financing as with the rhino I can pay $1000 and the rest in 6 payments without any interest. I kindda like the squat max better because it's smaller than rhino and cheaper. However, it looks quite large compared to squat max??

    im torn between this and the westside ATP. main goal is belt squats. the ATP is definitely more robust but not sure i need to spend twice as much and have it take up twice as much room. have you ever used the ATP before? the cable mechanism on the rhino does look superior but not sure. also the floor looks more solid on the ATP, the rhino moves a little and there is some give, i really DESPISE that kind of stuff. it needs to be solid as STEEL

      Shawn S I think it’s way overpriced and the leverages aren’t right. For example my training partner can squat just over 400 lbs but can load 700 lbs on the pit shark and do reps. He actually ended up with bruising around his hips from the belt because he had to load so much weight on. I think a good belt squat should be closer to rogues and Wenning’s model and be closer to 1 to 1.

    Great review, thank-you! Just a correction on the price that you state in the review: the stand alone version is $1,750 plus shipping. Also, Rogue is now charging tax for some states. For example, buying this in Washington State would add $150 tax, putting the shipped cost to over $2,000.
    Finally, you should disclose in your reviews whether you paid full price or got a discount. A lot of reviewers do that to take away from any perceived bias. For example, are you paying for the Squatmax belt squat that they are sending you?

    Any thoughts on doing sumo squats on this? Or another comparable variation?

    Can you use the low cable of a lat pulldown attachment in a squat rack as a belt squat?

    I wonder if I purchased some j cups and the rogue bolt together bench and chopped 7” off one leg of the bench; if it would make a decent bench rack?
    Checked with rogue. The most you could remove from one leg before altering the gussets is 5-1/2” so I would have to raise the other end of the bench by 1-1/2”

    I bought on in September. Still waiting. But I'm really anxious for it to arrive.
