      I know they cost an arm and a leg but how about a Wenning belt squat ? He claims it’s a one to one ratio but he also talks a lot of BS. I saw him once claim he invented the good morning machine he makes. Meanwhile Sorinex has been making the Back Attack for like 30 years 🤣

      buy the squat max if you're only using it for squats. buy the rhino if you want more versatility. lever belt squats suck as they pull you forward.

    As a ranking member on the Sub Committee for Gluck's Arms (SCOGA): this episode gets a 3/10. Minimal arm coverage, t-shirt on for most shots, one nice instance of a curl but not enough based on a 21 minute video

    One of the things I appreciate you mentioning is that some users Will potentially bottom it out. It is related to user height but also squat mobility, I’m 6 foot and if I set up my belt on the top loop I hit the bottom at damn near my max range so it’s acceptable for me, however if I try change that too much then I end up pulling the loading pin off the guide rod at the top of the squat.
    I have found it work’s acceptable for me and get a happy medium on my range of motion. Overall I’m happy with it! Enjoyed this review!

    The great thing about this belt squat machine is that it opens the doors in the market for other to make home based machines and the prices will eventually become competitive and affordable for more people who can’t afford this variant. Also others can add different options not provided here, such as the ability to adjust the height of the assisted handle bars.

    This does seem like it is the best machine for doing actual belt squats. I say that as a Rhino owner. I however love the versatility of the Rhino, especially dropped in a rack. Plus, there is no way I could use the Squatmax in my basement because of the height. But I love this collab and I love a good Gluck review 🙌

    • @chrisdonnell2575

      I'm considering the Rhino curious how often you use it I want one to add volume to legs without added back soreness and to also let me do deadlifts on back day without interfering with leg day too much. I can do heavy deadlifts and do 2-3 squat sets no problem but after that my back is very sore the next day and belt squat would resolve this issue. Curious how much you belt squat vs regular squat?

    • @TheCarterHomeGym
      @TheCarterHomeGym 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@chrisdonnell2575 I use it pretty often. The other day I used it for RDLs (using a bar cable attachment), front squats (using the Spud Inc chest harness), followed by regular belt squats. I use it for cable curls, tricep pushdowns with the Surplus Strength UPS, goodmornings (with the chest harness), calf raises, weighted dips and pullups, rows, weighted marches, etc. When dropped in a rack it really becomes incredibly versatile.

    I have the rack mounted SquatMax MD from when Rogue was selling it a couple years ago. I like the rounded handles on this one better than the square handles it use to come with. The only thing I like the Rhino better for is marches. The width of the 45 plates / hole makes it hard to do marches without the plates whacking you in the ankles. I use mine a lot for volume work as it keeps the spine load down. I also find if you have herniated discs like I do it works wonders just standing there relieving compression as part of a rehab / stretching routine.

    • @chrisdonnell2575
      @chrisdonnell2575 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Curious what you like better squat max or rhino? I had always leaned Rhino due to easier weight loading and not having to have such a wide stance and I see myself doing one arm bent over rows on it as well vs loading plates onto Baadass dumbells I do now. I can't see the cable being that much of an issue and don't really have knee issues have done landmine belt squats with 300lbs and it didn't hurt my knees so pretty sure Rhino won't either.

    • @joshalberson6301
      @joshalberson6301 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@chrisdonnell2575 I’ve only used the Rhino once so I can’t give a great comparison. I really like the SquatMax MD for belt squats but it sucks / does not work for marches because of the width. For me the Rhino was not out when I bought the SquatMax and it would not fit in my garage gym anyway.

    • @futbol1972

      @@joshalberson6301 The only thing that led me to buy rhino over squat max was the easier loading not the versatility since I dont use rhino for anything else than leg work. I have other cable machines for cable work. I kinnda wanna get squat max though since I like doing supported rows and I think I can get use to the loading on vertical pin as long as I have the plates very, very close to squat max.

    Looks like a quality collab which I’m excited for. Am I jealous, only a little. I still love my OG version but I’m happy that more people have the opportunity from a better price point to get the best belt squat into their spaces. Can you still use it in a situation with 8’ ceilings?

    • @reidbox7520
      @reidbox7520 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm 6 ft tall and have my OG rack-mounted Squatmax mounted at 20" above floor, same platform height as new model. I have no issues at all using it in my 8 ft ceiling gym. Since 8 ft=96" and platform height is 20", up to 6'4" aka 76" tall should be able to use it no problem, and even 6'5" or 6'6" might be doable in a pinch since you lose some height with feet spread in a squat stance.

    Very Cool Gluck,
    I told you if you keep doing what you've been doing, (Great work), the companies will start sending you everything for free. Soon, you're going to be like Coop and have so much equipment you wont enough space for it, you could supply your family and your boys (best friends) with a home gym and you will still have equipment to store or sell.
    I admit I didnt think Titan would start sending this expensive of a piece this early because as you know you kinda at times you have been pretty critical about them and deservedly so but they surprised with this and you deserve it,
    now REP and Rogue should fall in line.
    BTW, did you see Coop's video and a lot of other guy's videos on the Major Lutie's power rack. I knew it was just a matter of time before they caught on and started advertising.
    The one that surprised me with a Major Lutie review is the lifetime powerlifter Alan Thrall.
    Never saw him lifting in a 14 gauge steel rack but he says he sat it up at his home.

      We're getting there. Still paying for a lot (and that's fine) but this does make it easier.
      I think you hit the nail on the head with the advertising comment. I still haven't done the Lutie review because I didn't feel comfortable doing a paid review and they were spamming my email (over 1 dozen emails) from different "brands" that are selling the same rebranded product.
      I did see those reviews but knowing what was offered to me and the resources those guys have I I unfortunately don't trust what's out there. When a guy tells me there's no affiliate and gives out code/link I'm leary. Especially when I was offered that same thing.

    I am seriously considering getting a belt squat to add more volume to leg day without making my back more sore. Do you guys feel loading with 25s and the smaller stance MORE comfortable and natural? I don't think I normally squat with such a wide stance but also don't own enough 25s to go heavy enough so will have to spend a few hundred more on 25s most likely. The only good news about that is I've always liked Weight it Outs 25s and have a reason to buy them now but I agree with you wish this thing had weight horns on it. What a missed opportunity to do something so obvious!

      I'm planning on drilling the holes to put two horns on. Honestly the 45 width really isn't bad and it feels fine to us. It depends on what height the deck sits at, which can end up high depending on setting it up to handle multiple people’s height, and the length the carabiner connects. On mine I can’t quite sit down a failed rep so if I am going heavy, and lifting alone, I keep a Sawzall within reach to cut myself loose in event of failure.

    titan squat max or rhino?

    I've had this this for a week and its much worse than i expected. The negative rep (When squatting down) feels like a very shitty smith machine where the weight is being assisted and i'm getting about 25% the resistance in the negative, then when i push up its like using the cheapest leg press/smith machine that you'd buy in boscovs or something. The resistance feels horrible. The welds and powder coat were bubbly as a minor effect. The machine was $1300 on sale which comes in at $1500 with taxes and their "shipping protection". Once it's built if you change your mind GL taking it apart and getting it back in the pallet, packing it up, then scheduling freight to come get it.
    If I could go back in time two weeks I wish i didn't order this, and wish i tried it out somehow first.

    Nice concept but for home gyms that footprint is simply too big and not only that, it requires a high ceiling which most basements probably can't accommodate.

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's 20" tall so at 6' (me) you'd be fine at 8' ceilings. As for the footprint it's 45" long, 41" deep so less than 1 horse stall mat which is how we measure things in home gyms 😂 I actually think it's fairly compact all things considered. For the sake of comparison a standalone Rhino is over a foot longer in each direction.

    Gluck glossing over the huge downside of this system (loading and unloading) by saying there's no other way, and here's another 50$ thing to buy on top... NGL this is as friendly as can be to the manufacturer

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't mind it that much nor am I doing anyone favors. This is a pretty thorough and in-depth review.
      I don't call it a huge downside. I'd argue loading twice as many or more plates onto a lever based system that system isn't a true 1:1 ratio is a bigger hassle. I don't know how you'd do this differently and it's a great machine.
      The thing I thought was an actual issue is heights for different people. We tested it with quite a few people and heights, offered a few fixes, and spent a logical time on a factor that could render the machine useless to some people. It's a balancing act and no matter what these vidoes get nitpicked but I'm happy knowing I put my everything it this review.

    • @greentube461
      @greentube461 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well it’s funny you defend your choice by creating a false dichotomy with lever arm systems that are obviously inferior (wenning aside). The rhino has none of these problems and Rogue has a proven track record of over engineering their products plus good customer service (speaking to the supposed downside you pointed out). I don’t blame you for wanting to preserve your relationship with Titan, but I don’t think you represented the competition fairly in this instance. I appreciate what you do nonetheless, however I feel you could have done better on this one ! Peace brother

      Use plates with handles and loading and unloading makes it easy. Even with regular plates, and no spacers, it still isn’t that difficult to unload them.

      To each his or her own, but it seems to me that loading and unloading a barbell or weight-plate exercise machine isn't really a big deal.
