Have a HR44A Tillotson Carb. Starts but wants to go way too fast like a jet out of hell.. Adj (fast and slow) screws don't slow it down. The throttle 'doors' are closed... do have an air leak somewhere ????

How do you compare this carb to a mikuni flat slide or square slide carb? Better? worse? equal?

Hi man, i have a Tilloton HL-166B in my kart with Comer 80 engine. When the fuel is sprayed directly into the cylinder engine starts. But when I try to boot normally through the carburetor and the engine draws in gasoline. I headed it cleaned but still it does not work. Could you advise me what is the problem? Possibly replace what? thx

Hi, I have a single rotor Wankel powered glider with a Tillotson carb. Above 7000' and around 3/4 throttle I have coughing and hesitation like the mixture is too rich. The engine runs much better at 1/2 throttle and somewhat better at full throttle. From your video it looks like the first adjustment you make, setting the blade, is the only control I have for mixture control. I will try opening the blade a bit and see if things get better. Thank you for your video, 2 thumbs up even though I am not a kart driver.

hey to start adjusting a carburetor turn low needle in until it seats turn out 1.5 turns seat the high needle in to seat it then out 1.75 turns start engine and get it to idle if you turn it until the motor sounds like it plains up smoothly then the high needle run the motor at full throttle under load (spinning the track) turn in or out until the engine plains out or runs smooth and if your carburetor is in good working order you should be perfect never adjust carburetor at idle on high needle it will never work

Tillotson carbs are not meant to idle in the sense that if it is idling it will bog and possibly flood in the low end around turns. This is true with racing karts as this is what we tend to run. It is a simplistic design, but tuning the high/low speed jets can be tricky and takes running the kart (on the track) to get right. And no single setting will work best for each different carb. We have found that what may work for one carb most likely will only be a baseline for another. While I am still new to kart racing, it is a great carb to run for this application.
