One of the interesting things about this song is that it was written specifically about the music industry. Annie & Dave were getting incredibly frustrated with how they were getting treated, so wrote this song about it. Which ironically turned into the song that made them famous. Marilyn Manson and others (like the version on the soundtrack of Sucker Punch) use the song to make a much broader comment about humanity rather than just being about the music industry.

I spent the entire 1980s in discotheques - first as a young visitor and later as an employee - and for me there is simply no question that the original, with two such outstanding personalities in the pop business at the time as the Eurythmics members simply were, is the best possible version of the song.
Annie Lennox performed the end credits song for The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, "Into the West" in 2003. Miss Biss. To really get a wide range of her talent listen to right by your side and would I lie to you. These songs are very different from each other but Annie crushes it both times.
It's true, this is from the time when pitch correction wasn't available to suck all the emotion out of a song, and vocalists had to be able to sing. When they did this song live it sounded almost exactly like the recorded version, but better. Now, every "artist" is processed to death to produce what a record company thinks the public wants to hear: perfect pitch at the expense of emotion. The same with quantizing. God forbid the tempo should vary. Up until the late 90's we heard what the vocalist sang (often with effects, to be sure) but once it was possible to alter their voices to drag them to the nearest A440 note, all bets were off. That's one of the big reasons 80's music sounds better. That and musical sophistication. Interesting melodies, complex harmonic structure, new instrumentation are all lacking now, replaced by simpler structures. Good luck waiting for today's next "Talking Heads", "Steely Dan" or "The Police". If they exist, good luck finding them.
I think this song can be interpreted in two ways. From an artist perspective, standing out from the herd or becoming the roaming cattle of the music industry, indistinguishable from anyone else or like the steamy characters in a romance novel, finding that mythical forever love we all seek and rarely ever find among the masses of people who seem to have issues that prevent the forever love. ✌️😘💕🌹

I’ve never heard the cover version, but I knew that nothing could be better than this original version - I can’t even imagine a more perfect version of this song.
So happy you did this reaction.
I prefer this version.
Love this iconic song and video. However I've never understood the cow. 😅
Annie Lennox voice is unique/awesome.
Please react to more of her.
Thank you, glad you are happy for it
I can't imagine anyone doing this song better than Lennox and Stewart. She has supreme vocals and he's a musical savant.
Annie Lennox AMAZING.😊
Right?
I love you!!! I can't imagine what it feels like discovered such a great song so many years after his releasing. You make very good reviews/reactions. Love your work. Greetings from Argentina!!!
THank you so much
Annie Lennox rules!
She is great
@@BisscuteReacts she has done so much, hard to know where to start. let me suggest 'i put a spell on you' and work your way back from there.
Madalina 😮 I grew up to this kind of music 🎶 🎵 I'm glad you get to experience it like I did ❤ thank you 😊
Thank you for listening
Great song and reaction
Thanks
A great reaction, annie lennox greatest song in my opinion is love song for a vampire, its just so haunting
THank you, glad you enjoyed it
I refuse to pick which is better lol. Marilyn Manson’s cover is phenomenal, as all of his covers are, but the original is absolutely gorgeous and Annie is insanely talented and powerful. I feel like they are two totally different songs.
I get it, its not an easy choice. glad you enjoyed the reaction
Культовая песня! Замечательная певица! Спасибо, Miss Biss! Хороший выбор!❤
Annie Lennox is amazing. Anyone remember the tour she did with Sting?
not me, hahaha
@@BisscuteReacts I heard it was amazing, but tickets for a line up like that were around the price of a bahzillion dollars a piece, so that was a 'nope' from me.
Miss Biss. To really get a wide range of her talent listen to right by your side and would I lie to you. These songs are very different from each other but Annie crushes it both times.
you got it, hopefully in the future
✌️😘💕🌹
Thanks for checking it out
biss face in the thumbnail lol 😂🤣
haha
@@BisscuteReacts I hope you are having fun biss at your sister wedding 🥹❤️✌️
I always love your reactions, so real and heartfelt, I like this version best. I think the cows are there because they are moooo-ving on lol
Happy you love them
Maybe here comes thé Rain again... but i agree about marylin manson version, and thé vidéo is so....pleasant????
I see what you mean
Always liked the way that Annie Lennox can capture one's attention in this video while being so understated. Her hand and facial gestures are so minimal, yet they express so much.
She is amazing
🎵 Sweet dreams are made of Biss 🎵
haha
Annie is one of the best voices Her Husband Dave always came up with some strange settings but mist were fun. You can't go wring with Annie Thanks for playing this
Hello 👋 & Good Day Miss Bisscute ( Madalina ) 😊 Sweet Dreams is Her best song ( IMHO ) Yet ( Here comes the Rain again ) is impressive as well !!! I look forward to Your reaction , Like button 🔳 Illuminated 👍
Bisscute's enthusiasm wins again. My favourite Eurythmics songs are "Thorn In My Side", closely followed by "Who's That Girl?".
Thanks, glad you liked it
4:00. Oh, hands down the original! You can’t ever get better than the original! It’s impossible! However, MM’s rendition is more articulate. They had more control over the sound. Back in these days, the studio made artists do things they didn’t want to do. 🌿🌸
this was made in a flat on an 8 track system and a computer drum machine that didn't work properly, dave stewart had only recently recovered from lung surgery and annie had been deep in depression, they needed to take a business loan out to make the album
Hi Bisscute: Annie Lennox voice is ethereal and as she sings you can almost feel yourself slipping into another reality; she is truly a beloved and memorable singing artist. Moreover, you really got into the vibes Bisscute and were transported away emotionally. Great job. I also prefer this version,
Thanks
sweet dreams are made of bisscute she is so beautiful 🥹🥰
Your right
Amen to that. And her charm and wit are off the charts.
Creep
@@robertfindley921 her charm and wits are over 9000 lol 😂🤣🥰
That wasn't nice calling Robert Findley a creep I agree with his comment we love biss
Just want to say, another great reaction. Love the way you smile and get excited when listening to great classics!
Thank you
Yazoo - Don't Go
I will add it to the list
@@BisscuteReacts Yay - Thanks for that:)
Annie is style and class. Very cool lady. Also coffee is life. Thanks for the reaction video.
My pleasure, glad you liked it
So many cows you always expect Christopher Timothy to pop up with his gloves on.
When I was a wee lad, this was the first track to show me: Minor Key + Synth Detune = Tummy Feels.
Marilyn Manson's cover is better than the original 👍
NO. No way. Nada. Nope. Zero.
@@rhinno1969 Remember Friends Music is in the ear & mind of the Beholder I have seen the Originals like ( The sound of Silence ) or Songbird covers that were Absolutely Amazing Yet in my Opinion the Creators ( Composers ) of said Music Deserve a Large part of credit for the Magic of those covers !!! I say let's try to Enjoy All of them 👍 😎 ☀
