    Excited to see more Sai content. I'd love to hear more about the history of weapons in the Okinawan style, especially since not many dojos around where I live never taught more than pure hand-to-hand.

      Keep those video ideas coming! But yes, I have been thinking about another shorter interview with my dad to go into more detail of what his Sensei (Master) told him about the history of Karate and Kobudo (weapons).

      Hi Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but we have a dojo in the Chula Vista Rec Program. I believe you should be able to find more information there.

    MOST SAI VIDEOS CONCENTRATE ON SAI BASICS i.e. THE FLIPS. THE FLIPS IS IMPORTANT WHEN U WANT TO TURN A DEFENSE INTO AN ATTACK OR VICE VERSA. BUT SOME EASTERN MARTIAL , WHEN THEY ARE IN COMBAT MODE THEY DON'T FLIP. THEY USE THE FULL STRUCTURE OF SAI OR TEKPI, EITHER TO LOCK WEAPONS, BREAKING OPPONENTS STRENGTH BY MAIMED. HANDS & LEGS, OR INFLICS HARM TO THE EYES.

      These are Kensho sai and I want to say they run between $60 - $100.

    Hi. I was considering buying a pair of Sais and trying to train with TH-cam videos like this. But I am afraid that I might accidentally hurt myself. I have seen there are also practice "training Sais" (same size, same shape). Do you think I could begin with practice Sais? Or do you think their difference in weight will just be too different?

    The brand of sai in the vid is Kensho I believe... how do you rate them overall? I've never seen any reviews and how they might compare to other kinds of sai like Shureido.

      I really like the Kensho sai because they are light and easy to use! Really good for teaching/training. They are well balanced and flip really nicely.

      Thank you for pointing that out, I was trying to showcase the variations of basics that you can do, but you are correct my sai should have been moved over more :).

    i think he mistook soto uke with uchi uke

    • @eastlakedojo152
      @eastlakedojo152  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We use soto uke as inside to outside block, and Uchi Ike coming from outside to inside.

    • @fabiorosch9863

      @@eastlakedojo152 interesting, 'soto' in japanese is outside so we know it as outside to inside block.

    Way late, but must say thank you for sharing your Sai technique. I've always admired the sai but my Tao Sifu never taught us the sai , understandably, given he taught us his lineage of Northern Shaolin.
    He's retired now and I've tried to branch out in other kobudo from rattan staff and Tai Chi sword. Do you recommend the sai? Thank you.
    p.s.: what lineage of Karate are you offering on your channel ?
