  • In this video I make a table completely out of hardwood flooring. At the end of the video I will tell you how to get flooring cheap. In the thumbnail I wet the table to show the grain. It is unfinished

For anyone who is wondering, he used Acrylic Urethane Adhesive for wood. I had to watch the video 2 times to find out the 10 seconds where he mentions this (the first time I watched it at 1.5x)! He mentions it at aprox 4:00 into the video. By the way amazing build!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!!

Paul: This is a great video and is exactly what I was looking for in anticipation of building my kitchen table with hardwood flooring. It appears that you have no concern for wood movement and if this is the case what do you think of constructing the top with a breadboard if not for movement then for appearance? I consider this a master build class. Thank you for taking the time and I look forward to more builds from you. Jim Jay

hi, if you glue the solid wood floor planks like this then will there be a problem with wood movement?

Sadly the oak will shrink and expand where the plywood doesen't. This table will have seasonal gaps and or cracks like any hardwood floor does. Nails or glue won't prevent movement. The only way around would have been to cut the oak to thin veneers then glue them to the substrate (in this case, the plywood).

this is super informative! question: would 3/4" MDF be a better option than the plywood since it is factory straight? or are there other pros/cons to plywood /MDF for this project? thanks!

MDF will work. I used birch ply because I get it for free.
