  • I made a table out of flooring, please understand. It was really nice wood and I wasn’t about to let it go to waste. It’s not THAT bad if it looks like a floor. It is an EXPERIMENT.

    I have old flooring from my parents house, I think it’s close to 100 years old. Rather than burn these old boards they will now become a project I can give my children and nieces to remember the times they spent at mamaw and papaw’s , thanks for sharing this !

      Thanks for letting me know, old wood is too valuable to burn! Usually only the surface is bad

      You totally should, I would recommend it! The only tool you need to start out is a knife. Start carving away and get a feel for the wood, the way it cuts, its strengths, it’s weaknesses, and go from there :)

    Oh yes, the finely crafted coffee table in its natural grass habitat at the end. Great job, i also had the ide of using hardwood flooring because it is cheaper and easier to obtain where i am. Glad to see it can turn out very well with some skill and patience.

    You should maybe think about investing in a (sliding) compound mitre saw would save have to set up the table saw all the time for small cuts. Plus they're just downright useful

    This is great. I hope to try something similar but the hardwood flooring instructions, and other TH-cam woodworking videos, have me really nervous about wood movement. Especially framing it all in as you did. Have you had any issues with this? Thanks for the great video.

    I've looking into this as a cheap way of making table or desk tops. Unless you start with reclaimed materials, or stuff leftover from another project, you will not save any money doing this over just buying a slab of butcher block at one of the big box DIY stores.

    Great job! Why did u choose water based and not Oil based Poly? Would oil based poly be safe on a dining table?

    • @A.Mere.Creator
      @A.Mere.Creator  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Water based takes around 10 minutes to dry and is ready for another coat, whereas oil can take up to an entire day, and it’s that much better. For a dining table I would recommend setting aside an hour over a few days to properly finish it. I used oil based on my pine dining video, and in the description there is a good resource on how to apply it.
      Good luck

      @@EPSTomcat11 nah old dull chisel use light pressure and you're going to sand it after anyway. The whole point is to make less work for the end result

    • @dropndeal
      @dropndeal ปีที่แล้ว

      Use a sharp chisel, a card scraper, or a carbide scraper to remove excess glue, and to level out irregularities in the wood. It is typically better to wipe using a damp cloth before the glue sets.

      In no particular order: Rotary saw, table saw, wood chisel(s), clamps of various sizes, belt sander, paint brush, wood glue, extension cords, dual action (DA) sander, pencil, and tape measure.
