  • Test of Resolve is a ruleset specifically designed for the Wars of the Roses and is well supported with scenario books and free downloads on their webpage. I bought these rules last year, but I have been so busy painting my 6mm armies for the Battle of Bosworth that this is the first chance I have had to playtest the rules.

The rules do sound like they'll be fun to play. Looking forward to our first bash in the shed!

Indeed. Mind you, it'll stretch the rules to breaking point when I get my whole order of battle on the table. 😆

Thank you. And yes, they seem like a good set of rules that do exactly what I want.

Looks like you hit on a great ruleset here Lee. I have to say that your figs have come out brilliantly - a lovely job there 👍🙂

Spot on mate, I have played the rules a lot and you hit it on the head “entertainly frustrating” it works very well and gets a very good result and predominantly a historical result. Not played it solo though.
Already started to paint markers for the companies but not though about the large battle counter numbers but two disks would do the job!
    Cheers
    Matt

I found a number tracker from Charlie Foxtrot Models. It's MDF, two dials (so counts up to 99) and there are 8 in the pack for £10.75 . I'm waiting on delivery but I think they will do the job just right.

thank you nice review , I am also looking at getting into WOR in 6mm ( living fairly close to Bosworth WOR always kinda interested me ) I play 6mm GOT using Dragon Rampant but need something else for WOR , maybe TOR but i am not a big lover of a lot of counters on the table

Thanks for the look into this one; I’ve heard mostly good things from everyone who has tried ToR

Yeh, there have been a few good reviews of it. I quite enjoyed the card-driven unpredictable nature of the play. It certainly wasn't boring!

Thanks for the review. An interesting take on 'friction' from the rules.

IGOUGO can be a little bit artificial. This card driven system felt much more interesting because it was more chaotic and unpredictable. You could feel the ebb and flow of the battle as the advantage shifted from one side to another.

Love the Wars of the Roses period. Your miniatures look fantastic and thank you for this review. This review has convinced me to get these rules.
I must ask, where did you get the flags. I love the fact you have the colors and the company flags all matching. Not seen that for 6mm scale for WotR?

Scans of flags from some of the many Lance & Longbow Society books on the period. I printed them on a laser printer (adjusted to the size I wanted), cut them out and varnished them using Windsor & Newton spray gloss. That doesn't melt the ink and spraying rather than brushing also means the ink doesn't smear. The flags can be mat varnished later once the initial spray varnish has dried. I did a video on this, hope it is helpful: th-cam.com/video/wAypr_mVX0s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5vQMdIHkZpIcg9dp

Excellent video Lee. How did you get that subtle music track under your narration? It sounded really good.

    • @MiniatureAdventuresTV
      @MiniatureAdventuresTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I can add music as well as record a voiceover as a separate track. Then adjust the volume so it's not too distracting. Windows Movie Maker is basic, but it does the job and is easy to use.

Very succinct report. But, I thought you were heading for Nevermind the Billhooks.

I've been looking at lots of different rulesets, but I like the simplicity of ToR.
