Isn’t the show Ninjago over? The end scene of the last episode of the crystal season felt like a conclusion rather than a potential for more of the series. Like, what do you do after this? There are no more big threats left, and any villains they face are just the normal old ones anyways. The story is written, the book has been closed, and it should be left as it is, a perfect ending for a damn amazing show.
While I still think bringing back Garmadon in any form is silly after his great end in Possession and Tournament of Elements, I will say his character has always been written with care. In the OG series he was a fantastically interesting Villain due to his love for his son and others showing the good man underneath. Also I loved the aspect that he never wanted the destiny of his son to occur, not because he thought he would be defeated but because he never wanted to face Lloyd. He spent all of Season 2's first half basically ignoring his battle with Lloyd in favor of using his megawepon to try and eliminate the Ninja and his own brother to stop them from training Lloyd. It's something I never saw in a villain as Kid and even to this day it's the part of him I loved seeing the most. Especially since Lloyd is in the same boat, he doesn't want to fight his dad but he knows it's his responsibility so he tries anyway. Also OMG thank you for all the likes! Ninjago constantly contradicts itself Season 4: a bunch of elemental masters who apparently didn't care enough about everything going on in Ninjago to help(and Wu the entire time knew about them and never said anything). Season 5: introduced to another elemental power that wasn't used in that spell in season 4, so it shouldn't have worked. Season 7: same as season 5. Where did all the people come from? Because the world was created by the 1st spinjitzu master. These are only some unexcusable errors. I stopped watching after a while but there are probably more

Perhaps both lloyd and garmadon would look into the mirror, and lloyd would see himself as garmadon and garmadon would see himself as the omega. This would have been a good way for lloyd and garmadon to reconnect over having similar fears
Teaching eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth mentality for children is great! Also, all kids should know that sacrificing themselves is a dignified way of solving problems, even though they are a minor and they should never be put in danger like this! Amazing!
I think the reason he became so memorable was because 1. he was there since the pilots 2. he's returned as the main villain more than once (season 2 season 8 and 9) 3. I think the ninjago movie might have also contributed to his popularity and is probably why they had to bring him back in the oni trilogy . edit: yeah I know he's similar to Darth Vader also thanks for the likes.
Vader is the best villain. He is complex, relatable but evil, sympathetic, has a loved one(s) unlike typical villains (especially purely evil ones) and teaches us that you can always fell remorse and try to be better and ask for forgiveness (when you grab redemption). And since Garmadon is similar we are intrigued by him.
I still wish human Garmadon was brought back. This new Garmadon was just a shell of old Garmadon. If he doesn't have any of his old memories then he's still technically dead. It's like dying and having a clone made of you. It's physically identical to you in every way but it's not you, it's someone else in your body

In your POV you have every right to kill them cause that’s the normal sentence for treason, but instead you decided to spare them but made it so they can’t hurt you anymore. That kind man that helped you get your property back claims there’e a evil nation, but instead of killing the evil nation you decide it’s better to just make sure they stay in stasis and can’t move anymore. That way they’re spared but can’t hurt anyone Then there’s 5 people who come out of nowhere, and go to a small village and you hear they plan to break into your home, and try to defeat you. So you send your troops to stop them before they can hurt you. In Zane’s pov he was just doing what he thought was the natural order of things, and even when told someone was evil instead of killing them he either recruited or stopped them. Compared to what he could have done, I’d say the Ice Emperor wasn’t that bad a person
That is really cool. Accepting what he did instead of blaming the venom. And addiction in the perfect metaphor. To me, that infers the venom exacerbates the natural craving for violence and power, like the dark side. And it is very hard on a person to not just take responsibility for horrible tendencies Edit: but that's true strength right there

Garmadon is my favourite character in Ninjago overall. Use to be Zane after the end of season 3, but after looking back post 'Sons of Garmadon', Garmadon is truly my favourite.
I fell off Ninjago around the time blades season and have been wanting to get into it. All I remember thinking as a kid is “Man,if I was Garmadon,I’d be mad that I lost two whole arms after being resurrected,it seems like they’d be useful”
I find it this anomaly of a Lego cartoon has the best character development and story arcs than any other show the last 10 years, even when its lego it still takes itself seriously.

I feel that Sensei Garmadon should had more screen time than just 2 season. Like I always more liked Sensei Garmadon than Lord garmadon becuse he wants to be a better person from his past but does that in a funny way like when he drived the car in Rebooted.
Dang, man, this is the best analysis of Garmadon and what makes him my favorite character I've seen, and you manage to say it all so succinctly in just under 9 minutes! I'm very impressed! I've mostly been watching longer form video essays lately and it's refreshing to see a video make its point so well so fast.
I think the best visual form of garmadon would be an inbetween of both his purified form and his oni form, something akin to his long hair version shown in the books
Garmadon is like Darth Vader, but better. That’s why I have so much respect for him. He has a huge army of goons but isn’t afraid to be on the front lines with them. This isn’t the case with many Ninjago villains no matter how good they are at being villains. Chen hid behind deception and his own weakness. In Curseworld, Morro hid behind his ghosts. Nadhakkan hid behind his Sky Pirates. Each of these villains amassed more power in one season than Garmadon did in two, yet he’s still almost always there to battle the ninja.
I still feel that he's one of the most interesting characters written in fiction. I think if this was live action, it would be taken a lot more seriously by the public as a whole. But because it's animated, and LEGO, most don't. He's just such a compelling character. I don't even think of him as a villain, because if he is, then so is Zane as he was the Ice Emperor, and so was Wu when he was turned bad, etc. Only they are not thought of that way, simply because for them, it was mercifully more temporary. When you actually think about how Garmadon fought this evil for, remember THOUSANDS of years, before it finally took hold of him, and even then, he still fought it as you pointed out. The fact he ultimately 'failed', does not show weakness, but strength. Who else managed that for so long? His story is actually quite tragic. He lost everything. Remember, he also never asked to be cursed, as a child, which turns out, the Overlord plotted against him on purpose, so he's actually a victim, you know? He also didn't ask to be resurrected as evil by Harumi. Everything that happened to him was by the design of others. He was never actually 'destined' to be bad, contrary to popular belief. He is part dragon, just like Wu, and Lloyd. The only reason Wu, and Lloyd didn't end up the same, is they were never cursed, or resurrected with Oni masks, not because Garmadon was somehow predisposed to be evil. His dragon side remains, just sort of lying dormant, and he still used it to create things in the Oni trilogy. Many are not aware of this, but a google search reveals that yes, it's true. He did not just use oni power. Harumi also told him this right after she resurrected him. And that was part of the reason why the Omega was able to see that Garmadon was not actually like the rest of the oni. I hope they bring him back, and make him Sensei again. He has shapeshifting powers as you said, and it's surprising he didn't change back already in Crystalized, since he was so keen to be good anyway.
The interesting thing is that the writers of Dragons Rising confirmed that The Departed Realm has been merged with everything else. Who knows, maybe we will get a future episode that will explore the realm and we can get a glimpse of the other half of Garmadon. And Maybe we can also find out about the Preeminent as well.
I think they did a good job with garmodons resurrection but the only reason they did it was to include the new Lego Ninjago movie look. great vid @tristler
He had conflict with his Oni/Destruction side which gives him a connection to 1 of the main bad guys Omega and the great devourer venom was to make him a vessel for the OVERLORD himself. Absolutely PHENOMENAL he’s literally definitely one of the top villains on my favorite villains list. He ruled the Underworld, he got all the golden weapons and created the mega weapon, he turned into an anacondrai snake because of Master Chen one of the other main bad guys of ninjago because he basically has control over the baddest tribe in Ninjago, his evilness influenced Lloyd which released the serpentine so we got Pythor and with that created Harumi. Captain soto was dead but he knew how to defeat Nadakhan and the whole reason they found out was because Garmadon brought soto and his crew back to life. All from GARMADON. So. Garmadon’s Oni/Destruction side is led by Omega making him more conflicted since he doesn’t want to be like them good villain even though we haven’t seen as much as we expected, he is literally the vessel for the overlord the biggest main villain of Ninjago good villain, his master was master Chen good villain, his biggest fan was Harumi good villain, his son is the DESTINED GREEN NINJA good character and Lloyd being influenced by Garmadon at first released the serpentine unleashing Pythor great villain, as a good guy they’ve fought really powerful characters like the time twins and trapped Aspheera for 1000 years like we got to see what Garmadon does or has done as a Protagonist and Antagonist.
I really like the original show, but I hate avery new ninjago seasons. Reasons: -It's made just for money by selling thousands of meaningles lego sets and trying to make people feel nostalgig, even when the show is trash. -Those new character models make me feel sick and betrayed. -All that happened in original series is now forgotten and meaningless. -It's not unique anymore.
I hope they find a way to bring back sensei garmadon. Also I wonder if he appeared black and with 4 arms in season 1 and 2 because the venom made his evil (oni) side alot more prominent

It’s why I didn’t care for the show after Garmadon got redeemed. It’s not that I didn’t think he couldn’t be redeemed or didn’t deserve it; There was literally NOBODY who could replace him as a good villain afterwards. The villains during the whole super tech and beyond arcs were terrible.
Garmadon is one of my favourite characters ever since my childhood, and as a Genshin player, I wish HoYo would make a collab with Ninjago writers and introduce him as a playable character. I’d spend money on him (I’m F2P) no question asked 😂. I don’t care what anyone thinks - Ninjago is not a kid’s show! I have cried so many times watching it to the point of just being glad we got a happy ending. I am still excited for the upcoming season and am glad the characters we got were the way they were. Even if I could, I wouldn’t change anything about Ninjago! That’s how much it means to me. ❤
Honestly I had an idea on a cool way Garmadon could’ve returned. So when Harumi resurrected him she only brought back the bad right? Well what if she accidentally brought back an even worse version of Garmadon, well not necessarily Garmadon. I think it would’ve been cool to see Lloyd going to face him in krypterium then he realizes. He’s not facing his father. He takes one good look at Garmadon and sees pure evil. It’s the overlord possessing him like in season 2. In the show Harumi said she only brought back the evil parts? What better way to bring back the overlord than have him do that. How would he have done this? The overlord could’ve taken over the departed realm and possessed all of the souls who were there. Then the rest of the characters who are there (which I’m pretty sure includes Chen) would work as an army of soldiers connected to one giant hive mind controlled by guess who? The overlord. Contrary to popular opinion, I for one like crystallized, but I feel like if they did this in season 8 it would’ve made the oni trilogy (which don’t get me wrong is a complete masterpiece) 10x cooler.
Honestly yeah, no matter how flawed the seasons after The Hands of Time (Season 7) are in my personal opinion, Garmadon always stays as the most consistently good part of them.

That is really cool. Accepting what he did instead of blaming the venom. And addiction in the perfect metaphor. To me, that infers the venom exacerbates the natural craving for violence and power, like the dark side. And it is very hard on a person to not just take responsibility for horrible tendencies

Garmadon's arc has to be the best thing about the Ninjago series. Especially since Nya and Lloyd had a bit of a character regression in Crystallised.

Garmadon is my favourite character in Ninjago overall. Use to be Zane after the end of season 3, but after looking back post 'Sons of Garmadon', Garmadon is truly my favourite.

I'm sorry, but in my personal opinion, I like Garmadon's redesign much more than the original.
I feel that Sensei Garmadon should had more screen time than just 2 season. Like I always more liked Sensei Garmadon than Lord garmadon becuse he wants to be a better person from his past but does that in a funny way like when he drived the car in Rebooted.
Dang, man, this is the best analysis of Garmadon and what makes him my favorite character I've seen, and you manage to say it all so succinctly in just under 9 minutes! I'm very impressed! I've mostly been watching longer form video essays lately and it's refreshing to see a video make its point so well so fast.
I think the best visual form of garmadon would be an inbetween of both his purified form and his oni form, something akin to his long hair version shown in the books
I hope in season two of Dragons Rising we can see Garmadon as a sensei again. Or just see his progression after Crystallized

Season 1 and 2 are masterpieces, super underrated

Garmadon is like Darth Vader, but better. That’s why I have so much respect for him. He has a huge army of goons but isn’t afraid to be on the front lines with them. This isn’t the case with many Ninjago villains no matter how good they are at being villains. Chen hid behind deception and his own weakness. In Curseworld, Morro hid behind his ghosts. Nadhakkan hid behind his Sky Pirates. Each of these villains amassed more power in one season than Garmadon did in two, yet he’s still almost always there to battle the ninja.
I still feel that he's one of the most interesting characters written in fiction. I think if this was live action, it would be taken a lot more seriously by the public as a whole. But because it's animated, and LEGO, most don't. He's just such a compelling character. I don't even think of him as a villain, because if he is, then so is Zane as he was the Ice Emperor, and so was Wu when he was turned bad, etc. Only they are not thought of that way, simply because for them, it was mercifully more temporary. When you actually think about how Garmadon fought this evil for, remember THOUSANDS of years, before it finally took hold of him, and even then, he still fought it as you pointed out. The fact he ultimately 'failed', does not show weakness, but strength. Who else managed that for so long? His story is actually quite tragic. He lost everything. Remember, he also never asked to be cursed, as a child, which turns out, the Overlord plotted against him on purpose, so he's actually a victim, you know? He also didn't ask to be resurrected as evil by Harumi. Everything that happened to him was by the design of others.
He was never actually 'destined' to be bad, contrary to popular belief. He is part dragon, just like Wu, and Lloyd. The only reason Wu, and Lloyd didn't end up the same, is they were never cursed, or resurrected with Oni masks, not because Garmadon was somehow predisposed to be evil. His dragon side remains, just sort of lying dormant, and he still used it to create things in the Oni trilogy. Many are not aware of this, but a google search reveals that yes, it's true. He did not just use oni power. Harumi also told him this right after she resurrected him. And that was part of the reason why the Omega was able to see that Garmadon was not actually like the rest of the oni. I hope they bring him back, and make him Sensei again. He has shapeshifting powers as you said, and it's surprising he didn't change back already in Crystalized, since he was so keen to be good anyway.
The interesting thing is that the writers of Dragons Rising confirmed that The Departed Realm has been merged with everything else. Who knows, maybe we will get a future episode that will explore the realm and we can get a glimpse of the other half of Garmadon. And Maybe we can also find out about the Preeminent as well.
I think they did a good job with garmodons resurrection but the only reason they did it was to include the new Lego Ninjago movie look. great vid @tristler
He had conflict with his Oni/Destruction side which gives him a connection to 1 of the main bad guys Omega and the great devourer venom was to make him a vessel for the OVERLORD himself. Absolutely PHENOMENAL he’s literally definitely one of the top villains on my favorite villains list. He ruled the Underworld, he got all the golden weapons and created the mega weapon, he turned into an anacondrai snake because of Master Chen one of the other main bad guys of ninjago because he basically has control over the baddest tribe in Ninjago, his evilness influenced Lloyd which released the serpentine so we got Pythor and with that created Harumi. Captain soto was dead but he knew how to defeat Nadakhan and the whole reason they found out was because Garmadon brought soto and his crew back to life. All from GARMADON. So. Garmadon’s Oni/Destruction side is led by Omega making him more conflicted since he doesn’t want to be like them good villain even though we haven’t seen as much as we expected, he is literally the vessel for the overlord the biggest main villain of Ninjago good villain, his master was master Chen good villain, his biggest fan was Harumi good villain, his son is the DESTINED GREEN NINJA good character and Lloyd being influenced by Garmadon at first released the serpentine unleashing Pythor great villain, as a good guy they’ve fought really powerful characters like the time twins and trapped Aspheera for 1000 years like we got to see what Garmadon does or has done as a Protagonist and Antagonist.
Morro and Pythor are the onlly ones who come close to the legend that is Lord Garmadon

I really like the original show, but I hate avery new ninjago seasons.
Reasons:
-It's made just for money by selling thousands of meaningles lego sets and trying to make people feel nostalgig, even when the show is trash.
-Those new character models make me feel sick and betrayed.
-All that happened in original series is now forgotten and meaningless.
-It's not unique anymore.

It’s why I didn’t care for the show after Garmadon got redeemed. It’s not that I didn’t think he couldn’t be redeemed or didn’t deserve it; There was literally NOBODY who could replace him as a good villain afterwards. The villains during the whole super tech and beyond arcs were terrible.

Honestly I had an idea on a cool way Garmadon could’ve returned. So when Harumi resurrected him she only brought back the bad right? Well what if she accidentally brought back an even worse version of Garmadon, well not necessarily Garmadon. I think it would’ve been cool to see Lloyd going to face him in krypterium then he realizes. He’s not facing his father. He takes one good look at Garmadon and sees pure evil. It’s the overlord possessing him like in season 2. In the show Harumi said she only brought back the evil parts? What better way to bring back the overlord than have him do that.
How would he have done this? The overlord could’ve taken over the departed realm and possessed all of the souls who were there. Then the rest of the characters who are there (which I’m pretty sure includes Chen) would work as an army of soldiers connected to one giant hive mind controlled by guess who? The overlord.
Contrary to popular opinion, I for one like crystallized, but I feel like if they did this in season 8 it would’ve made the oni trilogy (which don’t get me wrong is a complete masterpiece) 10x cooler.
