    To change the screw from the tension roller of the timing belt, must the blocking paste be put on the thread that is screwed into the engine block? The screw came in the box without the locking paste on it. And when tightening it in the engine block, do you need a torque wrench or is it tightened by hand? The other screw from the small roller has the blue blocking paste on it.

    HI DIY DALY. I ordered the SKF DRIVE BELT TENSIONER VKM31023 . It's wise to replace this I'm told when changing all the other tensioners? Can this be fitted seperate to the timing belt kit? ( The drive belt TENSIONER May not arrive in time when my mechanic mate does the timing belt this week).
    Also the dual mass flywheel issue on start up.. is that a big job to replace and cause big issues if left too long?

    • @diydaly

    The lower engine mount looked like it gave some trouble? A bit concerning doing this job when the cams float whilst trying to get belt on. What if a belt has jumped one or 2 teeth just line up cam marks to top at 12 o clock?

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Erm neh it’s not bad really , little bit tight but maybe looked worse on the video .. the cams are not as bad as you think .. it’s only the outer pulleys that are floating the pin is locking the main shaft still so you can’t go wrong .. the only reason for the floating pulleys is to give a nice even pull on the belt all round.. it’s making fitting the belt quite easy you need to remember to nip them back up! Any issues with belt timing etc and just simply just need to re align the pin holes

    Is it possible that the timing belt is too tight even though the arrow is in the middle of the gap ? I can hear a whine between 1000 and 1500 rpm and to my research it is the timing belt. I don't know what I did wrong since the arrow is in the correct position. I used Gates powergrip.

      If the tensioners set right it can’t be too tight , I’ve only once had a fault water pump that was noisy but it came after about 2 months.. have you taken the auxiliary belt off to check if the noise goes away? That will confirm if it’s on the timing belt side or not

      @@diydaly I changed the timing belt 3 years ago but I never associated the noise to it, thought it was something related to the gearbox. It mainly happens when cold as it warms up it tends to lower the volume, it sounds like a supercharger, a turbo with play that sounds like a siren. I haven't removed the accessory belt yet.
      I can send you a video if you don't mind.
