    I had my timing belt done on my MK7 golf TDI and the car came back noisy !!! like overhead noise!! even my son who knows nothing about cars said whats up with the motor it sounds like its going to blow up. I asked the mechanic and he pulled the covers all off again and re checked it. Said you cant get it wrong...anyway 2 weeks later car stopped and came up with number 4 glowplug...i pulled it out and the tip was broken off and then i pulled the injector out and the tip of that was melted off !!! i turn the motor over by hand and it was locked up almost on a full turn but then jammed. Like it was hitting a bent valve or something. Never had an issue with the car ever until the cambelt was done. I think the mechanic fucked up. cant prove it. Maybe the timing was advanced and burnt the cylinder. ?? im pissed off.

      Hard to say exactly but something was clearly wrong there.. always tricky when something like this has happened if the mechanic is not offering any support

    Just did mine following the video, best one out there. My HPFP didn’t line up perfectly was about 1/3 of the way blocked from the left. Also tightened the HPFP to 20nm as quite allot of people have mentioned this to be the correct spec (including continental) but I’ve also seen a ridiculously high additional 90* which I don’t understand as these are defiantly not stretch bolts, otherwise surely the kits would include them new just like the camshaft bolts..

    • @BudgetGunner1
      @BudgetGunner1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is an interference engine. Meaning the valves and pistons occupy the same space, just not at the same time. If the timing belt breaks the pistons hit the valves. If you are extremely lucky you need to rebuild the head. In most cases you need a new engine.

    Well done! Congratulations!
    I have a question -
    I have a Passat B7 2.0 TDI 125kw, similar engine as in the video. The same is common rail, the car is from 2012.
    Does it affect fuel consumption, if the pump is not in line with the cam and crankshaft? Because after replacing the belt, my car consumes at least 3 liters more fuel. I am afraid that the mechanic did not set the fuel pump to be synchronized with the cam and crankshaft.
    Thanks for your reply.
    P.S.
    I forgot to mention that he didn't use the lock tool like you did at all. He marked the crankshaft with a marker, and put a pin in the cam, but I don't think it was 6mm, but thinner, to make it easier to install. I can't remember how he adjusted the pump or if he adjusted it at all.
    Everything has been replaced, all rollers, new belt, tensioners, water pump, in-line belt with all tensioners and rollers. Everything new.
