Hi Mickey, welcome to Indonesia, uraaaaa :) , btw before you explore Indonesia, you might want to visit Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (Beautiful Mini Indonesia Park), its a park consist all of Indonesia traditional houses, based on all provinces in Indonesia. This sounds like the best idea, because honestly, its probably pretty hard to explore all of Indonesia in one trip because there are so many different islands. I was looking at a map and didn't even know some of them were part of Indonesia like Borneo, Timor, and Papua.
Hey, so glad you made it to Jakarta. You should try using Google translate to communicate with the locals. The volcano is looking amazing already. Have a good and safe trip around Indonesia. Cheers 💖🕉️🙏
Hey Mickey. Nowadays many people in Jakarta prioritize cashless payments, especially in public services and commerce, because the digital ecosystem is getting better in this city. In general, maybe the same thing also happens as in other big cities in Southeast Asia. I know this unsuality must be difficult for foreigners, because it is not as flexible as cash payments.
cashless kl sistem sudah siap, termasuk siap untuk foreigner. buat foreigners cashless bukan hal baru. kita ngerasa teknologi kita udah duluan padahal kita yang ketinggalan.
in Jakarta the price of food and drinks is all expensive. I am an Indonesian who is surprised by the prices sold there. for food and drinks I chose to buy at the minimarket.
condiments serve with nasi rendang: the green ones are cassave leaves, the chunky ones are young jack fruit. condiments serve with nasi ulam: beef jerky, fried mashed potato (you're correct, that's potato), and the leaves are lemon basil (we call it kemangi).
Actually Jakarta has a very beautiful island that is not less beautiful than Bali or Lombok, the name of the island is Pulau Seribu. If you want to go to Pulau Seribu/Thousand Islands, you can take a boat to cross via Ancol where you visit in this vlog.

Also it has one of the longest suspension bridge in Southeast Asia !. Just make sure to make a bid with the locals everytime you do transactions :) Enjoy !

I have always understood that Indonesia It is a country that uses English well. Just like Malaysia or Singapore. Your video opens a new worldview for me.
@@MickeyStotch sounds about right. there are many jakartanians who can speak english, but there are many many more who can't. usually younger people would be able to speak at least a little english, since it's a required subject in the school systems, but they probably don't hang around on the side of the street in the middle of the day though. they are probably in school or working, or just cooling themselves in air conditioned area. 😁 (disclaimer: no offense to the street vendors.)
So, the leaf (vegetable) at the Nasi Padang are Tapioca leaves (or by the name casava in some countries). It's toxic when raw (just like you cannot take tapioca, or yam, or bamboo shoots raw - has to be cooked to denature the toxins). Tapioca leaves are a staple vege usually eaten with Nasi Padang. They also have a very good green sambal that goes with nasi padang.

Mike, a little advice...if you have trouble with card or digital transaction, you could just ask some people who has the card to help you to paying with their card. And for exchange, you pay them the right amount of the transportation cost or whatever amount that has to pay... When you enjoying Nasi Padang, they serve with the Jackfruit curry (you thought it was banana flower), it's actually unripe jackfruit.. The green one is Cassava leaves. It tastes a lil bit bitter. So you better to mix it with the soup (jackfruit curry).

Mickey! Next time come to another part of Indonesia... We have a lot of beauty to offer. But Jakarta... It's a little... Busy? Let's try Central Java or Yogyakarta, there are many traditional things here! Oh yes, the suggestion is to visit areas that are still beautiful. Don't go downtown because it's very tiring😭 In my area it is very fresh, lots of trees and very beautiful here!
Mickey welcome to Indonesia. Happy exploring and visiting places in my country 🇲🇨❤️. I enjoy your vlog. Indonesian people are friendly and helpful. Do not hesitate to ask for help on the road to local people if you need some helps. Try also Pempek Indonesian dish fish cake original from Palembang south sumatra. Selamat jalan-jalan, Mickey 😊
25:28 Bro, “mani” is “semen” 😂 Not something that you would usually have in a meal, се́мя. You have good pronunciation of Indonesian words 👍 Just that Indonesians generally don’t say “sedap” although we understand it, it’s more of a Malaysian thing. You’ll see many place names that start with “Ci-“ in Jakarta and the neighboring provinces of Banten and West Java. This comes from the Sundanese word ᮎᮤ (ci) which means “water” and it usually refers to a body of water, like a river or a lake. “Kini” in “Cikini” refers to a fruit, but I don’t know what kind of fruit and I don’t know the equivalent in English or even in Indonesian. That’s the commuter train, not the skytrain. There are other types of train like the MRT and LRT. It’s unfortunate that the train station employee didn’t respect his own rules, but you need to respect local rules however silly it is in your personal opinion. What you had in that Padang restaurant were cassava leaves and unripe jackfruit. It’s unfortunate that the bus attendant didn’t speak basic English and the ticketing system is so inconvenient. Even locals have a difficult time with the transport system as it’s not well-integrated.
Hey Mickey, if you're planning to take the train during rush hour, make sure to keep an eye on your belongings. The trains are really crowded during that time and there's a risk of pickpockets.
WELCOME TO INDONESIA brother . Don't forget to always smile and greet, stay humble here, if you have something you want to ask, don't hesitate to ask someone who is close to you. and must try local food🙏👍🇮🇩
Hi Mickey, actually you don’t have to come back to the station to top up some balance on your card. You can come / visit all the minimarket near you such as INDOMARET / ALFAMART to top up those card. And yup, almost every ‘travel destination’ will charge us with some money. I guess its for their ‘maintenances’ or ‘cleanliness’ thingy. As an Indonesian itself, its kinda annoying to pay everything everywhere. But yeah, it is what it is. So i hope u can understand it more and be happy while you stay here in Jakarta. God Bless You!
First time coming to Indonesia and you did your homework very well done 😊👍👍 You feel comfortable among strangers, that's something i should admire 😊 Take care and enjoy your travel 😊

Yeah and no, if I'm a tourist only visiting few days, I wouldn't want to use my card everywhere I go.... What if those card terminals have been modified to steal my card details? Then when I leave, I get weird transactions then gone case..
Personally I feel that it Should be a freedom for people to choose whichever they prefer.
amazing..i have never seen such a good video of travel in jakarta even though i live in jakarta
Nice vlog! Welcome to Indonesia 😍
12:25 They doubled the price, usually that small bottle costs around 3000-5000 😂
It's highly encouraged for tourists to at least speak basic Indonesian so you won't get "scammed" that way. If you asked the sellers with "Berapa harganya?" I can guarantee you that the Aqua price would be normal.
but i think , that Price will be Double because he don't know also the normal Price 1 bottle of Water.
Selamat menikmati liburan nya di Jakarta......nikmati juga kuliner nya
Indonesia negara yg sangat ramah penduduknya👍
Tapi hati-hati ya suasana hati orang beda beda 😅

Thank you for coming.
thank you friends for visiting our city, what you should know is that our country is a country with many beautiful islands. if you want something more interesting, visit the villages, you will definitely be respected, because in every village in our country the people are friendly and hospitable
Wow, a travel vlogger that actually uses the train systems more than an online taxi in Jakarta? And doesn't glorify the brand new MRT system? That's rare!
Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII)...replica culture,House, traditional clothes from 30 tribe Indonesia...Diversity of Indonesia...
Indonesia always been my favorite place to visit I like to see more adventure...👍🏻🇮🇩
Jakarta kota has changed now, very clean and neat no more chaotic
Hi Mickey, welcome to Indonesia, uraaaaa :) , btw before you explore Indonesia, you might want to visit Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (Beautiful Mini Indonesia Park), its a park consist all of Indonesia traditional houses, based on all provinces in Indonesia. They also displaying each province culture, like weapons, clothes, etc. Start from there you might want to edit your plan to explore our beloved country, and dont forget to go to Lake Toba in North Sumatra, thats the bigest caldera lake in the world..... cheers ... have fun... be nice ... and respect all local cultures
This sounds like the best idea, because honestly, its probably pretty hard to explore all of Indonesia in one trip because there are so many different islands. I was looking at a map and didn't even know some of them were part of Indonesia like Borneo, Timor, and Papua.
Uraaa!! ☝️
I know this unsuality must be difficult for foreigners, because it is not as flexible as cash payments.
in Jakarta the price of food and drinks is all expensive. I am an Indonesian who is surprised by the prices sold there. for food and drinks I chose to buy at the minimarket.
Terimakasih anda sudah mempromosikan Jakarta Ibukota NKRI apa adanya.
condiments serve with nasi rendang: the green ones are cassave leaves, the chunky ones are young jack fruit.
condiments serve with nasi ulam: beef jerky, fried mashed potato (you're correct, that's potato), and the leaves are lemon basil (we call it kemangi).
Actually Jakarta has a very beautiful island that is not less beautiful than Bali or Lombok, the name of the island is Pulau Seribu. If you want to go to Pulau Seribu/Thousand Islands, you can take a boat to cross via Ancol where you visit in this vlog.
since when jakarta is island....my god

12:41 i dont know about aq*a price in Jakarta but here in a town just about 100+km down to the south you can get aq*a for less than half, about 3000 to 4000 rupiah
edit :
if you prefer nature over city, then you might want to visit Sukabumi. the air is definitely better than Jakarta as the entire town is surrounded by hills and two mountains with one that you can hike to the peak. Also it has one of the longest suspension bridge in Southeast Asia !. Just make sure to make a bid with the locals everytime you do transactions :)
Enjoy !
biasa lah, meras bule.

Restauran Indonesia is the best , so delicious food 😊❤
I have always understood that Indonesia It is a country that uses English well. Just like Malaysia or Singapore. Your video opens a new worldview for me.
Sedap Mai?
Roi Jung Hoo 😋
No we aren't
Yeah, not that many people speak English here. I met only a few (people working in a huge shopping mall and in my hotel)
Indonesians with the best English, it seems to me, are Vtubers, lol. Good luck getting them away from their computer.
Hello from germany hahah i literally can smell the air in Jakarta through my ipad, because my parents both come fromindonesia but my father came to germany bc of better chances and better university for IT and my mother followed him after she studied done in ondonesia. Nice, i'm from Indonesia. Good adventure
Mike, a little advice...if you have trouble with card or digital transaction, you could just ask some people who has the card to help you to paying with their card. And for exchange, you pay them the right amount of the transportation cost or whatever amount that has to pay...
Indonesian people is nice and friendly, they will happily to help you, if you're asking politely
Enjoy your trip 🙂👍

When you enjoying Nasi Padang, they serve with the Jackfruit curry (you thought it was banana flower), it's actually unripe jackfruit..
The green one is Cassava leaves. It tastes a lil bit bitter. So you better to mix it with the soup (jackfruit curry).
Jakarta had some beautiful island with coral reef conservation at thousand islands district, to get the boat you can go to pelabuhan kali adem, but only had one boat trip in the morning as far as i know

Selamat datang dan selamat menikmati perjalanan anda di Jakarta INDONESIA.
Thanks Davan, I’ll be careful 🙏
Great tips, Davan!
19:23 The green thing what you eat is cassava leaves and the next thing is jackfruit vegetable
Waiting on the next one 🙂 Enjoy Indonesia ...
