Thanks for showing us your new guitar. I like your playing as well. Wish I played that well! I'm not quite 70 years-old but I bought a used R9 two years ago. Wow, that was not an easy purchase and I had to sell my Les Paul Custom to get it. Now that Custom Black Beauty (not an R7) was a beautifully built guitar but a tad heavy, just slightly more than 12 fricken pounds. But it felt so right in my hands, I loved the big fat D-shaped neck. So I tried to replace it buying an actual R7 in black, only two pickups. It's lighter than my old LP Custom at just under 9 pounds - certainly a huge improvement in that department. But the neck is not as thick as the LP Custom I sold. What a pity. Still, I treasure my two reissues and maybe, someday, I'll measure up to them if even slightly. Oddly I'm not an old Rock-n-Roller but enjoy 1980's music better. Johnny Marr is my favorite guitarist and the Smiths are my favorite band. Lots of difficult chords I find, especially in songs like "That Joke isn't funny Anymore". Cheers and thanks again for your video.
@jshphysicistatyahoo Wow, jsh! That's an interesting history of guitars that you've got there. I remember playing Dave Stewarts black les paul back in the early 70's. It was also so heavy that I had to sit down to play it 😆. Fortunately this one is only 8.5lbs and the neck is comfortable but not thick at all. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Much appreciated. Cheers 🍻 If you fancy a hit on the subscribe button I would be very grateful 🙏 for alzheimerssociety charity.

Lovely instrument. I was lucky enough to pick up a 2013 Les Paul Standard this week. I've always resisted Les Pauls, but this thing turned up and it looks stunning, has a few mods that were done by the old (now) blues players, and has the mods as standard and doesn't look odd... and it was very fairly priced. It was set up very badly, but after a lot of adjustments it's coming along beautifully. Might do a light fret levelling and crowning on it so I can drop the action right down.. it not bad at all now, but feel it could be lower and easier to play up the dusty end. Best wishes from sunny Mumbles.

Cheers 🍻

@@riffcodger thanks mate, did the same to your channel, I was just playing my Les Paul Custom Lite from 87 today in a band setting where I was able to play it louder ....when I play it super duper quiet it seems a little muddy and dull, but a little louder all of that was gone it almost was too trebly all of a sudden, shows that it's not always the pick up height or the wrong caps, pots, amp settings...sometimes you just gotta crank the damn thing to make it work

@MisterBurtonshaw thanks Mr B. That sounds a lovely guitar too. I've spent a lot of time in the mumbles in the past. I lived in Swansea for 4 years in my student days. Cheers and thanks for watching.
@@riffcodger I detect a Rhondda twang? We lived in Cwmparc in the early 70s, my late dad got his first teaching job in the comp at the end of our Street. I still have his '63 Hofner Verithin. He and my uncle bought it from the Selmer catalogue ... shame they didn't go for a Strat or 335 that were offered in the same publication, they were nearly twice the price though.

@Spike-w5o Hi Mike. I'm fairly sure that this is what an r9 looks like when it's taken to the Murphy lab. Then when they've got it they set to work 'murphying' it 😆.
