In 1950s London, a widowed cleaning lady falls madly in love with a couture Dior dress, deciding she must have one of her own. After working to raise the funds to pursue her dream, she embarks on an adventure to Paris that will change not only her own outlook -- but the very future of the House of Dior. The film stars Alba Baptista, Lesley Manville, Lucas Bravo, Isabelle Huppert and Jason Isaacs.

I am a 30 year old man with no fashion sense and I wept when they sent her the dress.
For an actor who has played so many stone cold villains, he comes across as such a warm man in this lovely , romantic scene.
Jason Isaacs should really play more romantic leads, he's very charismatic!
He stole his scenes in the otherwise unremarkable "Sweet November".

Been crushing on this man since I saw him as Lucius Malfoy and is the reason I watched The OA and Awake. Loved him as Captain Hook too. There’s just something about his voice.

Lovely, but a woman like that wouldn't have cut the knot, she'd have saved the string.
I definitely would have saved the ribbon, but I wouldn't have cut it. Just pull the ends and roll it up to save it

She does save the ribbon it came with- she only cut the packing twine.
Though I'm sure she saved the address label and put it into a scrapbook to look back on.

Very true. But wearing clothes that are beautifully cut, from lovely materials,fit well, and have that something extra, maybe class? Makes one feel so differeent!
It's not about the dress, it's about what the dress represent. We all have a dream that to other might seem silly and unreasonable, but we know that if we'll achieve it, we will be happy. And her "silly" little dream is to get a dress that is fit perfectly for her, made from lovely fabric and made in Paris. That's why this scene is so powerfull.
