  • In 1978, Bob Marley fulfilled his lifelong desire to set foot in the motherland and undertook an unforgettable four day pilgrimage to Ethiopia. A trip that had a life changing effect on both the Tuff Gong and Ethiopia after forty four years

    Love this story. I bumped into Bob Marley two days in a row, on a beach in Nassau, around New Year's 1977. Each time we just gave each other a polite head nod, because I couldn't believe it was him. I thought he was in the hospital in Jamaica, after getting shot. I was a huge fan. I had seen him on the Rastaman Vibrations tour. I had to fight the urge to say "Dude, you look just like Bob Marley!"
    My life took strange turns after that, which eventually led me to Orthodox Church too. Last year I had the opportunity to attend a service at an Ethiopian Church for the first time.

    Oh my, oh my! So Bob did visit Ethiopia? That makes me real happy 😊, because I always thought and heard that Bob passed without visiting the continent of Africa. Very heart-warming video. This video 📸 put a big smile 😀 on my face 😍. And to know that a beautiful statue was erected in his honor in Adis Ababa,, is an icing 🧁 on the 🍰. Thank you very much for this extra ordinary production. Much love and keep up the good work ☺️! Peace ✌️!

    Alan skill Cole with the great Pele at the time Jamaica best footballer , when Pele club Santos played a friendly game with the National team, he was impressed with Cole skills, Santos then offered Cole a contract to play in Brazil but first he will have to cut off his dreadlocks but he refused, just to show you the rastafarians not greedy about money.

    I apprecilove you reporting Bob's pilgrimage to Ethiopia in this way. It is rarely mentioned that he belonged to the Ethiopian Orthodox Church & was baptized there, or that he lived in Germany for the last part of his life....
    Is it not a contradiction to belong to a religion and to live Rastalogy (as a way of life)? No problem! 😉
    I'm also very interested in history (more art history) & geography myself, and think your posts are super researched. Compliment! 🌻✌🏻😎

      Thanks a lot. I'm glad you like the videos. Nice to connect to a fellow history lover. According to the Archbishop that baptized him, Bob wasn't too keen on people knowing he had converted as he was such a Rasta icon

      Yes, that's exactly what I've read here in German books. But I think he didn't hide it so as not to disappoint as a Rastafari icon, but because he was aware of his important role model function for black people in general.
      A very young man & already so wise at the time.🌻📚💡

    Great short compilation of the pilgrimage and the corrupt system that has since plagued Africa & Ethiopia, denying the very best of our own, someone who fought fervently against colonisers, trafickers and racists, enemy to his home country. Jah bless!

      "Followed" you say... Bob had a song out(before Peter's,"Apartheid") called,"WAR" from 1976.... So it seemed that Peter Followed Bob's lead in dealing with African struggles☝🏿.. As for Jimmy Cliff, I'm not so sure🤔..

    Another cool thing about this video is it gives a few clues about significant (even nefarious) people in his life. The novel, A BRIEF HISTORY OF SEVEN KILLINGS by Marlon James is brilliantly researched (& the audiobook is superb) addresses one of his manipulated bredrin in the assassination plot who fled to Ethiopia & another he forgave & kept close afterwards.

    • @loveheals6184
      @loveheals6184 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@scotttaylor7444 Please pardon my delayed response. Hmmm. That adds another dimension. I wasn't explicitly thinking about that, but now I will. It's certainly plausible. And he sang about shady characters like in "Revolution". "Never make a politician do you a favor. They will want to control you forever." It made me wonder to whom he was referring, though it's likely the PNP because the concert which led to the assassination attempt was attributed by some to presumed allegiances to Michael Manley and the PNP because the elections were declared around that time. It seems he rightly felt ambushed - no pun intended. Manley for sure was a better choice than Seaga who was referred to as "Reagan's man in Jamaica". Still, being Rasta- as we know- he didn't want to be connected to either political group. Please share your thoughts on "Bad Card" cos I'd always wondered about it.
