For how romantiziced the character of the beautiful damsel in distress is in fiction, I really appreciate how realistic they made Sansa's role in the story. There is nothing romantic here, she is constantly being hurt and abused and dependent on what stronger people decide to do with her.

Thats the point of the story she gets tortures until she fends herself. Once she starts to understand "the game of thrones" she gains power. Like having Brieene as a guard even if she isnt technically a knight accepting her services means having someone finally that can actually have her back

It's hard for me to feel sorry for her. She started out as a brat, and ended being a jealous hypocrite. She was damsel-in-distress fan service, and that's about it.

@@kashewz Jaimie and Theon were assholes and did awful things but you love them as soon as they had character development. You wanted fan service, go root for Arya. She is the perfect girl for fanboys, she doesn't complain, uses a sword, cusses, and doesn't care what other people think cuz she is a cool girl. Probably drinks beers with the guys too. lol

@@blor3664 The diff between Jaimie and Theon vs Sansa is that they both redeemed themselves, until Jaimie's character arc was destroyed in S8. What did Sansa do post Ramsey? Pre Battle of Bastards? "Why don't you listen to me for advice?" Jon: "Ok, what's your advice?" "I don't know, just dont do what he wants you to do." Clap. clap. clap. Then she knew about Army of the Vale and didn't tell anyone. When they came she saw there on her horse smirking like she's saved the day. No. The Army of the Vale did, and it was orchestrated by Littlefinger. Im going to keep the rest brief as her fuckups would result in a novel. Arya came back? Distrust. Battle at Winterfell? Did jack shit. The dragon queen or whatever her name was? Jealousy. In the end? Claimed that she didn't want power, then was the only kingdom who broke off and became a "queen." A queen of what? A queen of jack shit that's what.
Arya herself was an OP POS who's character also went to the shitter ever she since went to Bravos. In fact, the entire Stark kids were all butchered storywise towards the end. Bran was fucking useless, Arya was too OP, Sansa was a hypocrite, and Jon was an absolute dumbass.

And everyone Sansa looked up to such as those of high authority like Joffrey and Cersei ended up being absolute pricks and abused her endlessly. In the end, she had to learn the hardest way possible that kings and high ranking nobles can be the biggest assholes on the planet and lower ranking or disabled or rustic people like the Hound or Tyrion can be the nicest people you’ll ever meet. They missed one of my favorites, and maybe the first sign that she had an ally. At Joffrey's birthday bash, when he ordered the knight killed for being a drunken fool, Sansa said "you can't!" as a gut level reaction, but had to make up a reason for it to work. "It's bad luck to kill somebody on your name day." The Hound tells him that it's true, though he knew full well that he was lying to the most ruthless person alive who doesn't like being told things.

  • @JoaoMarinhoSP

Well, Sansa is actually one of my favorite characters. Her arc is very realistic, considering who she was, where she came from, and her beginnings in history - the one who would be queen of one of the most disgusting, cruel, and unprepared kings in the 7 kingdoms. Having little physical strength and no sword skills, she learned the political game and knew how to use it when necessary. Also, honestly, I don't know why fans love Arya so much. I also liked her development, but in her vow to avenge her family, she alone did not kill anyone of the "first rank". Only the "pawns". NO Lannister was even touched by Arya. Not even Cersei. In fact, a terrible mistake by the writers.

Sansa's biggest mistake/weakness in the show/books is that she puts her faith in the wrong people. There are two groups of people in Sansa's life. There are people who have all the trappings of nobility. Handsome princes, gallant knights. But are ugly inside. And people who are ugly outside but have noble hearts. It's once she stops looking past the artifice that she starts really playing the game of thrones.

In the books it's strongly hinted that when he was young at Riverrun he got Lysa preggers (while he was still pining for Cat) and the resulting abortion is why Lysa had so much trouble conceiving heirs for Jon Arryn.
Littlefinger had few if any redeeming qualities but I think he did love Cat and, in his own sick way, Sansa, and, while he was willing to use them as pawns, he wasn't going to discard them quite as quickly and thoughtlessly as he did everyone else who was a piece in his game.
