      New 5er looks heavy, especially with the contrast black lower sills - wish you could spec that as body colour

      No matter what Hyundai does, its still a Hyundai, incoming recalls, reliability and safety issues. Also the new 5er look tremendously better than this, the build quality is not even on the same level. Get this so youll save some money but dont think youll get the same car for less money, it will and always be a crappy Korean car.

    After sitting in the Kia Cerato GT, I expect this car to blow me away as well. Styling is 100% improvement IMO and am digging the new Z-esque "modern interpretation of early 90's style" rear end. As you mentioned, if they had a wagon, I'd be ordering one right now.

    Fantastic car, heaps of room and luxury. Plenty of safety tech and clarity of screens including cameras is some of the best out there. Drove the 23 model and even wheel spun in 2nd gear in the dry.

      @chasingcars  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Can’t say I was able to generate much wheelspin in the dry without deliberately being hard on the car (as demonstrated in the video) but this one has fresh tyres which also helps.

    I'm in the market next year and this is at the top of my list. Like you said, I think white is a great color choice for the '24 Sonata N-Line. Shows off the darker elements of the car well.
    I wish here in the U.S. we got the same level of options that Australians do. No window shades, seat memory, seat ventilation, and I believe no vents for the back seat, either. I can understand why they loaded up the Australian version, though, if you do not have the Limited.

    Thanks for the review. I actually quite like this car. I remember back in the late 80s, I was driving a Saab 9000 Turbo without ABS. It was slightly raining and the road was wet without I realizing it. Any car at that time that can do 0-100 in less than 8 secs was considered as a quick car. I floored it and it skidded from the left lane to the third lane. I did not know what I had done to rectify the situation and luckily it did not crash.
    From that time I realized a front wheel drive car with good torque can be quite dangerous especially without much safety tech at the old days. This car really reminds me of that it still costs around the same amount today. Unbelievable. It really makes it attractive.

      @blackviolenceHAHA I am in the south continent and can be quite wet. I have no issue on that.

    I don't for the life of me understand why Hyundai doesn't offer the Sonata Hybrid in Australia. Killer fuel economy, decent power (still has a real automatic instead of a CVT). Why is this the only option in a country where there are more speed cameras than kangaroos?

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Would love if it was a two-strong range: this N Line, plus a more luxury-spec hybrid with additional brightwork and light interior. but these days it's good thing that they bother to sell a Sonata at all, so beggars can't really be choosers.

    • @bengaltiger96
      @bengaltiger96 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@chasingcars True that. I like that N line, but I'm not nearly as excited about performance cars in Australia as I was in the US, for the reason mentioned (too many speed cameras). That, and the sheer expense of cars in Oz. Foreign companies of all sorts call Australia "Treasure Island" for a reason: they can sell their wares at ludicrous prices to a captive audience.

    Still driving our Hyundai i45 from 2011 which was what Sonata became during that time before reverting back to Sonata branding in Australia. It has been mechanically excellent, even doing two road trips across the country, and hasn’t missed a beat. This new Sonata would be quite the update, while we think about updating, but don’t really need to… Despite some exterior and tech and entertainment updates, plusher seats, it still looks very familiar. Thirdly, I'm a bit older and don't want the attention. And finally, the infotainment screen of the Elantra doesn'teven come close to being as elegant as the Sonata. The M135i was the most fun and exhilirating car of the 3, the 330i M Sport had the best interior and seats, but the Sonata had a good balance between the other 2 and for 20-25k cheaper, it is a winner for me. The simple fact is there is not really anywhere near the sales volumes required to bother with that distinction. The fact is: the Octavia RS is a midsize sedan/wagon (OK, a liftback, it doesn’t matter) with a similar price to the upper-midsize Sonata sedan. In Australia they are direct rivals.

    • @smovol1847
      @smovol1847 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@chasingcars first of all, thanks for answering. Secondly, Octavia is a compact car (C), not midsize (D), which shares MQB platform with Volkswagen Golf, Jetta and SEAT Leon. The direct (if we drop the fact that Skoda doesn't make 4d saloons - but 5d liftbacks) competitor to Octavia (RS or not) is Hyundai Elantra (i30 saloon in AU). Step above them - Skoda Superb - midsize (D) liftback / estate. And one more step - and we could find modern Hyundai Sonata, which is large or executive or business saloon (E). As for pricing - that another question and it depends from market / region, of course.

    Im looking to upgrade my Honda Civic 2017 Turbo (60,000kms) with either this or a Elantra N Line (or 130N Line Sedan as called in Aus) when it comes out. Im thinking of getting both their top tiers ones when available.
    Looks wise I like this Sonata 2024 and the interior is just amazing.
    But which will be faster though?
    Which will have better tech?
    Which will be cheaper?
    Does the Sonata have that crackle and pop sound?
    I like a more sporty look with my car, Sonata is just slightly family car looking compared to Elantra N 2024 imo
    I always love the semi autonomous driving of Civic X models. I was wondering if these two new Hyundai models have em?from research before its not as complete or as extensive as the Civic X ones.
    Any help would be appreciated

    • @alritevegemite
      @alritevegemite 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Depends what you want the car for... the i30 is far worse as a commuter than the others but will eat them on the track. Do you plan to go to the track at all? If not the Sonata or Superb is probably the pick.
      As a previous owner I'll say the i30N is obnoxious to use as a daily and if you don't get to drive the thing in anger is a complete waste of nearly $60k compared to the Sonata.

      @@alritevegemite I just want to beat ppl off the lights up to the speed limit so they can see some cool tail light LEDs tbh. 😊 hahaha. Yeah, non track. Sumthin to cruise in comfort but also provide some spice when required.

      @@s0lephasr248 The i30N is awful off the lights, sorry to say. Terrible wheel hop, and without some real trickery(you're not activating launch control at the traffic lights) and octane learning(sedan) it gets nowhere close to the claimed 0-100 time.
      Get a Golf R or something EV if you want to be a traffic light warrior.
