If you saw our lifted Chevy K10 LS swap get back on the road last week, then you know we got ourselves a 1976 GMC Vandura boogie van! This retro roller came from the era of disco balls and shag carpet, and has all of the authentic patina to prove it. This project van has survived all this time in the California climate; but now that it's in South Florida, right by the coast, we have to really make sure this van doesn't just rust away into a pile of dust! That's why we called out the guys from Poppy's Patina. They brought with them their polyurethane clear coats to help us seal in our original patina paint job and stop the sun, the salt, and the rain from eating away at this van! We're showing you step by step just how easy it is to get your patina car or truck protected from the elements, and we're even giving you guys a chance to win a clear coat kit to protect your own ride!
We also need your help! We have an idea of what we want this van to look like; an air bagged patina van, with an era appropriate interior. But what do we do about the power plant? That's where y'all come in! We want to know what you'd like us to slam into the drivetrain of the GMC Vandura to get these tires smoking! Leave your suggestions in the comment section below!

GBGBFT !!!!! Damm I miss those old things. Maintenance is going to be a beast no matter what you put in it. So low profile headers low rise intake or straight up fuel injection is going to be a must. Keep it simple and clean. Air tanks out of welding bottles on the sub frame would add a wicked touch
Mid mounted GMPP 502/4L80 sans driveshaft with zoomies stick'n out in front of the Rr tires and a "cold beverage" cooler where the engine USED to be. 😎🤙

You need a 450hp Porsche Cayenne 4.5 liter all aluminum twin turbo engine, tranny, transfer case, and all that cool jive.
A K24 swap in the van would be pretty coool.
Love the way that van looks, with the patina & the dented fender. I use the aluminum foil trick when I paint break calipers!
The dents really make it authentic!

Miss my old Vandura(same model, color(PATINA) and year) . Lived out in Cali. and pulled the 4500 foot El Cajon Mountain on the Daily. 350 swapped Stoker....Mannnn

I love vans. I customize them for a living. I think that van super bad ass bagged with some fat meats on the back and a twin turbo 5.9 Cummins. Yah you could do a Duramax but a Cummins would be totally unexpected.
Plus we could have one of those raunchy stickers made that says something like "cummin inside the van!" lol
I had one on the back of my 72 E100 that said "don't laugh your daughter may be in here " lol

A custom vintage-style buttoned velvet interior with a killer stereo, airbrushed side murals and lower the front end a little to give it a nice stance. For the engine... V8 with sidepipes.
The exterior will stay how it is, but we definitely need that velvet interior!

The Briggs And Stratton on my push mower is pretty bad ass and never lets me down. Put a twin turbo on it and swap it into the van. LOL JK

Very cool, I like the flat or matte paint look, good old hot rod black or John Deere matte black, but always had that problem of moisture, but this stuff appears to be fully water resistant!
I have a glossy shine black HHR, and have been thinking about a matte black paint job, it appears I can follow the directions and enjoy the look I want.

It's super simple to use! Especially with the wipe on product!
You've got all the space in the world for batteries. Replace the entire bottom pan with batteries and make this an E-VAN.

Two suggestions... first is I'd love to see a Tesla Performance drive unit shoved in there...heaps of room for a pack too...but, I reckon a V8 Duramax and Allison would be a killer swap.

I think you should do a mid mounted big ass diesel motor in the GMC van with a roof scoop and side pipes.
Definitely need those side pipes!
Throw an RB26, VR38 from a R35 or even a Titan V8 in it and slap a turbo setup and lit it rip tater chip 😆👌🏽. Chris Forsberg used a Titan V8 for a couple years in his FD car a few years back and it ripped.
Thankyou for this, My Mazda's clearcoat is failing in the way that '00 era Mazda's are want to do, and I've been looking for something to protect what's left.
I'ma have to give ole Poppy a visit. I've got some Hot Rod Flatz matte black for my '68 Stang. They say it won't need to be cleared but I question that being out here in the Texas heat. . .

Another nice one. Got a nice old orange early 60s chevy econoline looking van with side pipes and all on it a a shop near where I'm @ glad yall got nice weather. It's 💩 here right now Tim Taylor without the grunts n call for more power don't seem right lol.
Make it a camper van for traveling to shows and add lots of v8 goodness to it

Okay, got it, easy peasy, it's a G. M. SO A 6.6 D - Max L. 5P Duramax with a 10-speed ALLISON. Just swap bodies from a wrecked H.D 2019 G.M.C. YOU GOT YOUR DIESEL ENGINE, 10 - SPEED ALLISON and 4X4 LOW DOWN INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION. Done in like 👍a couple of weeks. I think I WILL LOOK INTO THAT❕😛

Get a chevy electric crate kit and put it in the vandura
Uuuuuh, van + burnouts? The Bedford from the Skid Factory comes to mind first. Al & Woody did stuff a Barra inside that thing but it was lots of fabrication. Vans generally don't have much space up front so a V6 or small V8 with turbos would be the maximum. A 3- or 4-rotor with turbo would be wild but then you'd have to ask Rob Dahm or the Vargas brothers for advice... 🤪😁😇
Space isn't an issue! Knock out that firewall and you got tons of space! lol
I've seen a Mk2 Transit with a Big Block 460...seen plenty of Bedfords with small block Chevs too.
