    Love the cosmetic upgrades...
Would've love to see alot more cleaning as parts came of and on...
ie... powerwash behind grille and engine bay, under wheel arches, parts wash door mechanism...
    Hey maybe it's just me...
    Keep plugging away...

A SOS pad works great and I would have used some vinegar after you cleaned the rims to help kill the light rust that was still in it cracks then wash them and wax them helps a lot

The white lettering oxidizes, turning yellow, a little elbow grease wipes it right off, looking good. If you get crazy and need another van project, I've got an 89 Chevy camper special I don't need anymore. Took my family on a cross country tour, a decade ago, just sitting here ever since, Eastern North Carolina. I'm enjoying your work!

Those plastic razor blades are a game changer. I remember when I found them at my local parts store and bought a pack for the exact same thing you had to do, decal removal. Love the van. My cousin had one back in the early 80's it was silver with side pipes and splitter under the front bumper. It was hand painted on the splitter barracuda. I always have a spot for the older vans.

If you fold the vinyl end up, like you are rolling a toothpaste tube, you will find that it will split less because the pressure is equalized, and the vinyl will be easier to remove.

When you were cleaning the chrome rims, I thought how cool the van would look with baby moons. Sure enough, you finish it up and looks like it could be cruising Huntington Beach with a couple of boards on top. Great work as usual.

Barkeepers Friend powder has oxalic acid in it that will disolve the rust in the cracks and pits so whatever wax or clear you put on after will last WAAYYY longer. It's also awesome at removing rust stains from mounting screws on grills or trim, around bumperbolts on chrome or painted bumpers, whatever. I used it to get rid of the rust stains on all the painted surfaces on my 1961 Studebaker Champ. It worked like frikken magic(MAGIC I tell ya'!!) and didnt harm the old original paint at all. Just make a thinpaste w water, brush it around and rinse it off after a few minutes. Comes in a can, like 3 bucks at Lowes or WalMart

My friend showed me a trick to hide the black pits on chrome by rubing them with a piece of an aluminum tray, pie dish or stove hot plate or oven foil tray after the scotch bright steel wool. Leaves a silver aluminium plating on the rough pitted parts that helps hide and protect the unplated rusty bits.

I use silver spray paint for what ever rust pittage is left after the steel wool. After it sets up I take steel wool again and make quick work of the overspray. I find this keeps the pittage at bay and from a few feet away you can hardly see the difference from the chrome to the silver covered up rust.

And solvent like brake kleen and a clean shop rag removes the adhesive pretty well.

Except for my 4x4s, it's big 'n' littles all the way. The van looks waaaay better now! Door speaker panels work just fine. Which reminds me Karl...I have a few wheel and tire combos that could use a good scrub. Let me know when you're free...😁

Come up very nice . Feel your pain on those decals leaving an annoying residue I've done my share of removing the buggers . Love the paint yup so 70s but it's still in great condition and what a patina .. autosol and 0000 grade wool brilliant at cleaning up chrome and plastic headlights .. ( bit more elbow grease required ) . Did some work on 76 Chevy panel van in the late 80s long wheel base full wolf race custom interior great van sadly not looked after all the door bottom frames had rot on them and the cill panels . Great to see another being saved from the junk pile . Not so much a quick flip but an enjoyable couple of videos thanks Karl

I love those round headlights! I wish I could swap out my 1995 square ones.. for that older style...

"Torque Thrust D's" because the spoke looks like a "D" or "Tulip Mags." Very, very cool wheels. I wanted a set for my '65 Mercury Wagon before it disappeared. Used on 60's Mustangs a lot.

Speaking of steel wool. Try using 0000 on the outside of your windows. It will polish the glass and remove dirt and grime better than any cleaner can do! No need for Rain x again!!! Great video! Take care!!

Great idea I’ll try that. The van still needs some more clean up

I agree the patina of the candied paint looks cool, I wouldn’t do a whole lot to change that. Awesome van!

SOS pads on wheels & raised white letters or white walls . But look amazing 👏!!!!

Those wheels and tires came out great! The chrome front end looks so much better also.
I really like shorty vans. There was one in my home town in the 90s, butt after that I have not seen any! Living in Norway, these was not that many of to begin with.
