    Out of all of the sunshine wristlet tutorials I have watched, yours is by FAR the best one. You deliver instructions so clearly and almost pre-empt all the beginner sewer questions you will get! The lighting is fabulous, the mic is clear and we can see what you are doing when we need to! In fact, that can be said of all your tutorials. Keep up the humor too, love it. You rock Jess! 👍🏼

    Jess - I love your teaching style and videos. I know filming and editing is time consuming but I appreciate how you add the call outs to the screen reiterating settings/seam allowance. I really love the camera angles and especially when you are sewing so we can really see what you are doing.

      Can I make this project with a brother model JX2517.? This machine was a hands down and I really like your projects.
      By the way I ave never attempted sorting like a bag. Only kitchen curtains and scrunchies. You inspired me to get over my fears on sewing.

    I gave up meat a few years ago and decided I needed to give up leather shoes and bags, too. When the bag I'm using now wears out, I'll definitely make this one as a replacement. Really attractive!

      You could just print the pattern at 80% or so to get the same bag in a different size.

      You got this friend! It's a REALLY good beginner bag. Skip the recessed zipper if that seems daunting.

    Working on like my 10th one tonight and realized I could just put the double sided tape on one side of the zipper tape. Sew the side without it first, then remove the tape before sewing up on the opposite side. This way my needle didn't gum up.

    You are the best on teaching me how to sew. I’ve done all the easy bags over and over. I tired this one today because I finally got foam. Agggh, Jess! Where did I go wrong? When you said “make sure you don’t sew over your zipper tabs, I went whaaa? My zipper tabs went to each end of the bag. Next time I do this I’m going to use fusible fleece to lose some bulk. Im also going to shorten the front strap so it’s not so loose. This is the only bag I’ve screwed up....but I will try again!!

      You got this Karen! I screw up EVERY bag, no joke. But it all turns out int he end.

      Yeah...about three hours later, I bolted out of bed and measured the 2” box to make sure it’s printed correctly. Nope. Sure didn’t do that. Won’t make that mistake again. So the pattern itself went together fine, but the two things that had to be cut (front strap and zipper) were too long. On to the next project!!!

    I have this wristlet in my cutting table tonight. I noticed that you used fusible fleece, but did not fuse it to the fabric. It was basted. With that said, I think I will try using car headliner material. Has same density and size. hmmm. will try that.

    Love your tutorials! Have you seen the Amara tote by Bagstock? It's to die for! Please do a tutorial on that bag. The bottom scares me! In the past I have had a horrible time with those kind of bottoms!

    I love your tutorials - they take so much stress off of bag making! I'm really interested in making this bag but do you know if it could work using fusible fleece, or decovil light/ heavy??

    Hi I just made this bag. Thanks for the tutorial. Was wondering instead of the foam, what would you suggest? It just seems so bulky for a clutch type bag with the sew in foam?

    I just made one (with you 😊). It turned out ok but my vinyl frayed on part of the side seam on the back panel. I’m not sure when it happened but I’m just going to pretend it’s not there. Lol. Thanks for the tutorial.

    • @OklaRoots
      @OklaRoots  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm did they vinyl fray on the middle of the panel, or the side where to 2 vinyls are sewn together? With a large seam allowance your edges should be tucked away. Those sides can be very tricky with thick vinyl. I'm going to show this in a video soon, but what I've been doing is sewing a second row of stitches an 1/8" out in the seam. This takes the pressure off those stitches holding the side of the bag together.
