Bank shutting down will be devastating. Loosing like 20+ years worth of pokemon, events, cutting out all previous titles, the little screen for transferring a gen 3 pokemon up to oras, etc
Well, coincidentally, you can also get the elemental monkeys, spinda and the patrat line in Pokemon X and Y, so it would make sense to include them in Legends ZA.
I'm sorry but this isn't set in stone. As an example, the Medicham line was in D/P but excluded in Legends Arceus. The only guaranteed Pokemon to be in Z-A are from Kalos because all Sinnoh Pokemon were included in Arceus.
I will never understand why servers have to get shut down,or why storage have to close, why bother giving us something if your just going to shut it down? it makes 0 fucking sense to me
Hey, IT guy here, these services close down due to aging server infrastructure and software vulnerabilities that comes from discontinued maintenance. At some point, the server that the service is being hosted on will either break down and cease functioning, or they'll get hacked. I'm sure losing a bunch of pokemon would suck, and gamefreak should honestly make newer tools to support transfering from older consoles to newer gens, but getting both your personal info and your credit cards leaked would most likely be infinitely worse.
Also finance guy here, the cost of maintaining the servers out-weighs the net economic benefit they could receive from Bank Subscriptions (before it was free), to the likelihood of players upgrading to a Home subscription. Most players who would’ve, will have so it’s only time till they axe the service for good.
I should check my pokemon bank out. I started playing pokemon back in 1997 or so with red and blue. I proceeded to buy every single mainline pokemon game that came out, three, sometimes four per generation. When pokemon bank was released I was happy because it felt like we FINALLY had a final system in place, such that I could boot up a pokemon game, and switch out pokemon, regardless of generation.....but it was not to be. For years I kept a living dex going, but then I discovered I could not send pokemon back once they had visited a future generation. Meaning that I could no longer get a shiny charm on old cartridges that I wanted to do a new run on. This angered me, but not as much as what happened next. Nintendo announced sword and shield, and not only did they announce a new service, meaning I STILL wasn't done finding a home for my pokemon, but they betrayed me and everyone else by ignoring the "gotta catch em all" catchphrase and no longer allowing me to have my pokemon in future games. Nintendo told me that pokemon bank was "IT", that through that service I would now be able to take my friends with me forever.....It was THAT promise that made me pay for it, I knew that 50 years from now or something the service would probably go down, but it barely lasted 5.I immediately quit, I stopped paying for pokemon bank and have not bought a single game since. ....But I do wonder sometimes about those mons, whether they're still there somewhere, waiting for me. If pokemon bank is really shutting down permanently then I should probably do something about it while I still can. All those shinies, all those perfect 31IV partners that I spent hours breeding.
My best advice? Get those mons onto a cart you can get backed up onto a PC so you can make a "personal" bank on a modded 3DS using PKSM or PHbank. Both methods are very much complex modding solutions but they do the same thing except connecting to home, but until the real bank is shut down maybe transferring is worth it? Idk personally I dumped my carts and gba games, and now using emulators on phone + pc feels better while also having options to keep what I catch. (Especially with the shitty new games 😂)
I completely understand your frustration. I know that that broken promise has definitely left a sour taste in your mouth but it's as you said; those pokemon are still waiting for you. It may seem ridiculous to say that seeing that they are just imaginary digital creatures, but what sets this series aside from the rest is the memories tied to them and the ability to take them with you as you go. I would hate for you to decide to come back to the series and it be too late to retrieve them.
Likely they saw the verification issues in competition and made a "toll gate" type scenario to restrict people bringing in living dexs of gen 1-6 shinies all max stats 😂 It's why duplication is caught in switch games, when a pokemon is sent from bank to home a randomly seeded ID is set to that pokemon as a "check" to see if there's another pokemon with the same assigned ID, stats, evolution line, etc. These don't exist in 1-6 purely because...they didn't think of it then? Hindsight was 20/20 and sometimes the modding community does unpredictable things
@@flyzfm5060it’s not stats or ID at all, it’s actually the home tracker number they get. I have a number of clones I made in SwSh and older games sitting in home and they aren’t at all flagged because the home tracker numbers are different. But you can only see the number with a modded switch and pkhex genning software.
It needs to stay up until it is possible to have every Pokémon on home through the switch games. So until we get patrat on a switch game, that service is staying open
I get it. It’s an outdated system, but I also get it that people bond with these Pokémon sometimes you just have to make the sacrifice and start at new
100% agree. Kind of the reason I made the video. I have like 20+ year old pokemon in Home right now and any time I come across them, it reminds me of my childhood.
TBH it is quite sad to hear such reality but then again there has to be at least some solution to the problem. I feel that since you can't connect to pokemon home with pokemon bank they should have an option to transfer pokemon offline. Not Trading. but an offline method that can be used for the ds and 3ds games. I mean some of us probably don't care about the modern games and just want to do it for fun. But thats just me. I could be wrong but who knows.
There are definitely methods that can do that but it involves a lot of modding systems and emulation. Would be nice to have like an official way to do that though haha. Wish we could have gotten like a DS version of "Pokemon Box" where it's like a physical copy and not managed through online servers
Hope they never close it down. I still enjoy shiny hunting on older gens and bringing them over to the newest gen. If they close it these pokemon will be stuck there forever. Kinda demotivating …
I bought another 3DS to try and do this. But it a lot of factors in bringing the mons along from the older games. And it gets costly, buying these consoles and HOME premium plans etc. Plus I just don't have the time to try and get everything together. So my mons will probably stay on the older games permanently. I'll just have to start from scratch again once all the generations are available in the modern era.
Yeah, it does really suck how many hoops to have to jump through to get your old mons and if you don’t have your consoles from when you were younger, it does get pretty costly. Hopefully Home will be a permanent solution
I just have to say… I think that people who have Pokémon over 20 years old on the DS and who have Bank/Transporter are very lucky. I as a kid had no other way to store my Pokemon outside of my cartridges they came from because I had a faulty link cable or only had one GBA/GBC/GBSP/DS/3DS, had no GameCube or Bank/Transporter and none of my friends had the system or the games to play/trade with me. So even if I did manage to port something up from the GBA era, it probably got erased by me starting a new playthrough on a game on my DS. As a result, even now that I have Bank/Transporter as an adult now, my oldest Pokémon probably isn’t more than around 11-13 years old. I dearly wish I could port up a Pokémon that I loved as a little girl but I don’t think that that’s going to be able to happen for me. So instead, the one Pokémon that matters the most to me in the world is one of my shiny MewTwos. I couldn’t nickname him since he had a different OT when someone I used to love a lot gave him to me after getting him for me from the Pokemon Center in NYC, but I have always called him Twoey, after Audrey II from “Little Shop of Horrors”, on account of his green belly and because the person who gave him to me could do a pretty good Levi Stubbs (Audrey II) impression. I do not miss that person now but I DO miss what we had, the type of relationship we had. And Twoey is a reminder of those good times as well as having been one of my first trades with a real person. If I ever lost him, I’d be so upset.
Fingers crossed it will stay up until I complete my shiny origin living dex. I am at 56/151 for kanto after 4 years, so…. maybe a few more decades seem reasonable?
2027 at the latest for BW remakes for sure. I'm just thinking that there's no way we only get Legends Z-A between Gen 9 and Gen 10 because that'll be like a 4 year gap between gens and only one game between them
That’s a great question. The Bank service connects to the Bank servers before it even lets you move any Pokémon so you unfortunately wouldn’t be able to use it locally which is a total bummer. I don’t see them doing this, but maybe we could get one final update that would allow us to us Bank without connecting to the servers???
@MitchMortar I don't think they would even think about it, and not in the sense of "they are too greedy to do it" but as in "they aren't even able to conceive such idea"
Currently playing through gen 3 trying to do a living dex in every game upto current gen .... I don't think I'll finish my quest before they close bank.... hopefully someone rsatss a work around so there will be fan support using bank or.similiar

Hello, first of all i would like to say you awesome video and i just subbed, i was actually looking for a video like this and you came up recommended. I just have a question if you could help me out.. Im a millenal too, and ive recently been playing the old games because ive kept them all this time, ive been playing lf, emerald, hg, platinum, white and black 2. What i want to do is trade and migrate all my pokemon (using two ds's) to hg. My question is this, to get all my pokemon from heart gold do i need to buy a 3ds with pokemon bank and transporter installed to get them to the newer games? I know you mentioned it but do i need both of them, and then do i transfer from bank to home? Then home to a newer game (which i havnt played any of them yet) Is that right? Id love for your take on this if possible, looking forward to more pokemon content keep it up 👍
bank does not connect to gen 4. youll need to move your pokemon from hgss up to a gen 5 game and use poketransporter to get them into bank, or move them up again into gen 6 to get them into bank directly. you can get pokemon bank and poketransporter on a 3ds without it by modding the 3ds and installing them that way, otherwise yes youd need to buy one with them already installed. you dont strictly need both, poketransporter is used to transfer from gen 5 or the gen 1 and 2 virtual console releases to bank. if youre using gen 6+ you dont need it.
theres some videos out there that detail the process of transferring mons from gen 3 to modern day, they might be able to give you a good visual guide to go off of (personally im a better visual learner than text learner so i thought id offer that information)
@FissionCube I'm able to get a region free 3ds with pokebank and transporter already installed, i just found one on ebay :D so into black and white 2, that's no problem, I just wanted gold because its my favourite game lol. I think I'll be able to do this, thank you very much for helping me out. by the time I played gen 6 onwards I can play z a!
@MintleafCakes I think I got it but I'm going to check some videos out I just checked out old ones and wasn't sure about the whole bank thing stopping, ill get there my brother thanks for commenting :)
