    Troubleshooting Video - • NEW! How to Connect OB...
    THE NEW BEST WAY
    Connect Your Webcam with the Virtual Video Camera
    Connect your Microphones from OBS to Zoom
    Connect the Zoom audio output in OBS
    This is ideal for recording and streaming the content
    Use new Audio Monitor Plugin - obsproject.com/forum/resource...
    This plugin allows you to choose each audio output you want to send to Zoom individually. This way you can still use your monitor output for your headphones.
    First of all, why would you want to connect OBS and Zoom? By connecting OBS to Zoom with video you can use the virtual webcam feature of OBS to power Zoom. In this way, your webcam source in Zoom can have all kinds of awesome video sources that you can manage in OBS. You can use this to use lower thirds, show overlays, mix together multiple sources, display countdown timers and much more. The only limitation is your creativity.
    Next, why would you want to connect your Zoom audio through OBS? First of all, in OBS you can enhance your audio with VST2 plugins and you can mix together multiple sources of audio and output that into Zoom. Want to play a video clip and have everyone see it in Zoom? Sure you could use the Screen Share feature, but it’s much cleaner to manage everything in Zoom. Want to record and stream your Zoom conference on TH-cam and Facebook using OBS. Well you are going to need the audio from your Zoom guests into OBS to do that properly.
    So, the easiest way to get started is to start with video. You can bring your webcam into OBS and then output into Zoom using the “Virtual Webcam” option. This button is in the right hand corner by default right below start recording and streaming. Next, in Zoom you can select “OBS Camera” as your webcam in Zoom. Now everything you see have in the output screen on OBS will show up your webcam source in Zoom. Easy right?

    Thanks for this video and all the effort to communicate how to get this set up but for some reason, I couldn't get this to work without getting a feedback problem.
    I finally resolved this with the following setup. Maybe this can help some other similarly dimwitted people like me.
    First of all, I purchased and installed the A Cable and B Cable per your instructions
    I also installed the audio monitor 0.6.1 for OBS on Windows
    1) in Zoom on my primary PC, I hosted a meeting
    2) On an ipad (I also could have used a phone) I joined that meeting so I could test my results since the challenge is to get both my voice and the audio portion of a video to be audible to Zoom participants. ( Plugging in earbuds to this test device can help prevent artificial feedback loops)
    3) In the primary Zoom session, on the audio popup (the up arrow by the mute/microphone icon in the lower left), select Cable A for the microphone and Cable B for the speaker
    4) In the primary Zoom session, on the video popup (the up arrow by the vide icon in the lower left), select OBS virtual camera
    5) open OBS
    6) create a new scene by pressing the + in the lower left
    7) add a new source for Mic/Aux, select your preferred microphone as the input. Next add an audio monitor filter for this source with the device set to Cable A
    8) add a new media source as any local video file that also includes audio, add an audio filter and set the device to Cable B
    9) right click on the Audio Mixer header and select Audio monitor if it's not already checked
    10) Set the audio output slider in the Audio Monitor in the middle of the range
    11) This is the basic configuration that worked for me

    Just what I needed to understand. Thank you. One more item to consider. I also have a Blackmagic ATEM mini pro. I want to add that into this flow as well. I think the audio plugin and virtual audio cables will make this work.

    • @JorgeSilvestrini
      @JorgeSilvestrini 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Lee, couldn't you do everything inside of the ATEM mini pro and then send that output to Zoom? I'd probably want to use 1 switcher, in this case the hardware, so think like a couple of cameras to Atem, audio to Atem, OBS or ProP to Atem for graphics, lower 3rds, etc and then the output of Atem to zoom...

    It seems like OBS could simply have a dedicated simple audio virtual output. In zoom, you would select obs (virtual) camera and obs (virtual output) audio. It would be a 15 second tutorial instead of 9 minutes.
    I agree, OBS gives you things you can’t do directly in zoom, like the compressor filter for audio, or the option inside the audio menu to delay the audio by 100 or 200 ms so that it sinks better with the video channel.

    This is fabulous and you mentioned you can then stream to FB or youtube. Would you recommend connecting the streaming connection from zoom to (in our case) twitch or OBS to twitch? For our purposes we are going to twitch for a night of live performance.

    Thank you for the information. I have one question. I'm trying to bring the feed from zoom, process it through OBS, and then stream it live FB. But what happens to the people in the zoom group? If A from the zoom is speaking, and we process it through OBS... one output will go to FB live and the other should feedback to zoom. Wouldn't that create feedback? Does it mean all the zoom participants need to use a headphone?

    Hi Paul, Thanks for the update above. This method seems to require you to add the new 'monitor output' filter to EVERY sound you have on OBS you want to send to Zoom. Seems a lot of work AND I've got so many sounds/jingles/music I want to send to Zoom but also I wouldn't want the monitor output filter to interfere when I am not sending to Zoom. Can't we just send over mic AND 'system sounds' together? Thanks

    Superb. Do you have a solution to suppress echoes when using a sound control for an amphitheater? Indeed, I speak into microphones so that I can be heard in a lecture hall and I retransmit the sound through a scarlett to usb via OBS. But I also take the sound of zoom speakers that I plug into the sound control in order to hear them in the amphiteater... at a minimum, the speakers hear himself in echoes, and sometimes there is some larsen... Can we manage through virtual Cable Thank you.

    Great video! Just bought the virtual cables, and I have a couple of questions:
    1. The Default Virtual Cable sample rate and bit depths are:
    Cable A & B Playback Input: 2 Ch, 24 bit, 48000 Hz
    Cable A & B Recording Output 2 Ch, 24 bit, 44100 Hz (Studio Quality)
    Should I change this in Windows Sound to the 16 bit, 48000 Hz settings that I use for gear associated with Zoom and OBS?
    2. Have you found any way to take advantage of Zoom's enabling background images for people who don't have green screens? This process happens downstream of other software I route my webcam's video through, like Logitech Capture, and I would like to use it with OBS once your connections are enabled. Or does OBS have a similar plug-in to provide this capability?

  • @GaryWold
    @GaryWold 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been using OBS for a year or so. Zoom yer YEARS. I Use VoiceMeeter Banana for my audio. I'm happy to see the new audio plugin. I'll give that a try.
    We have live zoom meetings where we review lots of text and web pages where the viewers listen and follow along.
    We present from computer "A" send NDI screen capture 2560x1440 to Computer "B," which runs OBS and hosts the Zoom meeting using the OBS Virtual Camera plugin as the Zoom input.
    Zoom screen sharing directly from Zoom has always looked pretty good, but now that I use OBS with the virtual camera plugin, guests in the live Zoom meeting have complained. The zoom recording used to look good at 1080. Now zoom only records 360. Thankfully I started recording in OBS and zoom, so I have the full-res recording from OBS.
    Is there a way to make Zoom see the OBS output (2560x1440 full screen) as a document camera? This is really needed.
    Many Thanks!

    As an FYI for folks, if you want to be able to control source volume in OBS, you need to check the radio button labeled "Volume linked to source volume," and select "Linked to source muting" in the "Mute" selection.

    Having said that, I'm having an issue where the video I'm playing on TH-cam (or any desktop audio) seems to be bypassing this entirely, and I can't seem to mute or control the volume. I can control my microphone's volume though.

      √ Volume linked to source volume
      √ Mute - linked to source muting

    for me on 21.0.1 on mac I had to do it a bit differently I think to get OBS audio to feed to zoom - in OBS click the settings wheel next to an audio device, advanced audio, set to monitor or monitor/output (turn on monitor, I didn't have a filter option to do this.) Then in general obs settings at the bottom right of the whole obs window, audio tab, advanced - monitor device set to VB-cable.

      I have Yorkville mixer. and this is what i did, do not need vb cables or ndi
      1, connect your mixer to your laptop, 2, on lap top select usb codec as your virtual input out put.
      3 , on OBS, set codec usb as ur audio in and out. 4, on zoom mic should be codec usb.
      crystal clear sound.

    I run the last version of OBS (on a mac) and I have installed VC A + B. However, I cannot select Cable B in the preference/audio/ desktop audio of OBS. (I see cable B in the list of my audio sources elsewhere)

    If I used virtual audio cable to route my audio in and out of Zoom, would I need to select the "Share computer music" or "optimize for video" in Zoom when I am playing music/video?

    Thank you very much. Which microphone (voice of the host) is Zoom using? is there a separate microphone input in OBS that feed to Zoom

    • @JorgeSilvestrini
      @JorgeSilvestrini 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Samson, this is why he setup the virtual audio cable. Zoom is getting the microphones from virtual audio cable 1 via OBS. And then the second virtual audio cable is sending the audio from Zoom back to OBS.

    Hey I have a question? How do you get VoiceMeter to be the default audio control in Windows? I want to have any audio I play on my computer whether from a Disk, flash drive, media player, external cd player or record player, web browser mix, or any other application's sound output that would go to my desktop audio to first go through VoiceMeter and then on to OBS, then onto ZOOM. I can get sound from Zoom just fine in the way you explain in the tutorial.

    Hi, I have implemented what you describe in this video, but I have only one problem; my microphone remains active while I am playing a video. How can I automatically mute my mic when I choose a video player scene? Thanks...

    Stuggling to get this to work. I am trying to combine the sound effects I have in OBS with my mic so that when I am in the meeting I can broadcast the sound effects to the room. Any advice....cannot seem to get it to work. I have used VB Cable, also used NDI Audio, and Source-Nexus but nothing seems to work. HELP!

    I do not have the audio filter option in obs shown in the steps. Mine is blank. Also when i downloaded the virtual drivers i received the vbcable driver pack43 that i did donate to receive but it does not have the a & b Cables referenced in this video.

    Does this still not connect through Zoom screen sharing so that you can have the higher quality sound and video that Zoom gives you when you use it or am I missing something?

    I've been waiting for such a video to come out demonstrating this new plug-in. I have been taking a similar approach in OBS to get my audio to Zoom/Meet by way of Settings> Audio> Advanced> Monitoring Device=VirtualCableInput, and then setting individual audio sources under Advance Audio Properties to "Monitor and Output" to aggregate the audio. The plug-in feels like less of a workaround than my approach.
    As an aside, I have tried the NDI approach instead of virtual cables, but it did not work for me. The audio quality and signal strength dropped too much. Gave up after hours of troubleshooting.

      Yes, I agree on the NDI side of it. Why use the network when everything is already on the same computer. This new plugin really makes the solution ideal.

    I am using OBS to send our church service out to Zoom and FBLive. I record the service on Zoom and FB. Is there a way to prevent the Zoom audio from the participants from being picked up by the Zoom and FB recordings? I use a separate computer to monitor Zoom so I don't need any audio coming into the church computer other than the churches microphones and music inputs that we use to send the service out.

    Thanks for this. One issue I seem to be having is that when I mute an audio source in OBS it's still open in Zoom presumably as the send to Zoom is the monitor feed. Any idea where I might be going wrong?

    • @keithlancaster5489
      @keithlancaster5489 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same issue. Have you found a workaround for this? I end up having to mute Zoom itself (I only use one audio source)

    • @mtdaveo
      @mtdaveo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@keithlancaster5489 Mine's seems to work on and off, but I'm still figuring it out.
      Connect as detailed in video, but then check Audio Mixer in OBS...
      Source: Desktop Audio
      Filter: Device: Cable-A Input (VB-Audio Cable A)
      √ Volume linked to source volume
      √ Mute - linked to source muting
      Properties: Device: Default

    Mine was almost perfect like yours but I'm having an issue with the speaker part where the sound just won't come out if I set my speaker as VB cable B. Please explain what I would have done wrong?
