This video is remarkable because it shows Ghana in a wondrous way back in the 1960s. It is as if 2022 had not yet arrived at all. With the Jubilee this year it seems so real and fresh to see the Queen as she was back then. The world has dramatically changed but Racism still persists after all those years in both Africa and Europe,
You'll never be rid of racism bro it's in every single country on the planet been around for 1000s of years. Am white British and things like racism leaves me feeling very repulsed. I loved the video showing such a wonderous and gracious people. I didn't think to some of the things said by the presenter as I don't feel they welcomed her as if she ruled over them at the time. Seems wrong for him to say that

‘ the lovable people of Ghana ‘ 🥺it’s just such a wonderful thing to hear from a documentary made as long ago as the 60s at a time where America was segregated and racism as still in its prime worldwide . That’s what’s complex about the British monarchy under Elizabeth ,there were a lot of redeeming aspects of their impact despite there also being a lot of negative ones . But the respect they showed to country’s who at the time were looked down on by so many surely changed the world for the better
As Dutch 'cheese-head' I lived in west Africa for abt 10 years, incl. Ghana, Cote Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinee. What a beautiful coastline, what a nice people and I enjoyed my time there. The recording of this visit of the queen is far befor my time (eightees/ninetees) though many of their traditions are unchanged and I hope that the native people may conserve their tribal history and traditions.
And when they saw the Ashanti ritual of taking young men into the forest for survival training they created the Boys scouts. In fact Baden Powell founder of the boys scouts became dear friends with the Ashantehene and admired the cultural practices so much
What are you talking...Welcoming and smiling to the people who has been colonizing you and your ancestors for almost 100yrs....that means you were really happy for the colonization....as kanye said it was a choice
Not the Queen but the government at that time! Until her death Ghana was said to be her favourite Commonwealth and African country! A serious quarrel almost broke out with the present Royals when Prince Harry was said to have planned an invited visit to Ghana just after Nigeria. They wouldn’t allow a show that might get close to this visit of the Queen’s favourite African country! Understandably the Commonwealth African countries including Ghana don’t feel that way after painful experiences on both sides!
I'm shook😅 It was a long time ago although in fairness Ghanaians are very hospitable people. This was barely a year after becoming a republic and a little over 4 years after achieving independence 🤷🤷
You know they could have continued to colonize us right ? We should just be grateful to Queen Elizabeth for granting us independence and stop the talks.😅
Very interesting for sure. Obviously colonialism and worse yet, slavery was deplorable. This video and the one of Q Elizabeth's tour of Sierra Leone are fascinating the ease and closeness she had with the people. Especially interacted with the children. I would be surprised is she is "racist" I think she respected the people. Of course that's not relevant to the inappropriateness of what transpires historically where UK was a ruler by force and extracted (stole...) riches of the continent. ❤️🌍
Nkrumah was the redeemer and show boy those were his nickname and he lived every part of it. His name Osagefo means redeemer. Ghanaians killed and disgraced and lied about him. And that is the root of our suffering. Let's stop blaming outsiders and blame ourselves for listening and acting on lies
The gold worn by one king is enough bye the whole US so why is Ghana still so poor. This is due to the evil and selfishness of our governing leaders. We lived a walking distance from the osu castle. Sat on my grandpa's porch watch the president motorcade from the airport to whenever he plan to take them. Ghana was the country you want to visit at the time. We were proud and graceful. We still are to some extend. So what Ghana is didn't start with the year of return. Nkrumah put us on the map but thru our own stupidity extinquish the light. We would have been where Singapore or Switzerland is now or even better
Your name sounds Ghanaian. You might have been born in Canada 🇨🇦 but if your hue is as mine and most of us here , then I am afraid you are an African first and foremost, and then a Ghanaian by blood and genetic relation, and then , Canadian by birth only , if at all . For that , most of us , all have 2nd passports but we wouldn't dare call ourselves otherwise but Ghanaian by blood and and genetics which to all intents and purposes is what makes us unique.

The paramount chiefs' ornaments and jewelry are solid GH gold...
Just can't stop applauding the military Band.. Very wonderful for such a splendid performance by the Band in 1961

61years ago and it seem like yesterday . Wow I love ❤ videos of this type
Great to review these historical events in light of HM Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee!

Great legend Dr Kwame Nkrumah God bless you. 😭
This is beautiful
It is very important to be a global person in an international world for the 2020s.
Not me searching all the countries that Queen Elizabeth had visited after watching the "The Crown". 😂
Para mí en la historia de la monarquía en Europa, la Reyna ISABEL de Inglaterra fue Única, por su sabiduría ,admiración y respeto.
This was glorious
She was thinking about how to loot the mineral resources later , lol 😂

It baffles me how a country's people would gather in honour of a queen that colonised them.

Stole and looted is the right word though.
But I agree, it's quite fascinating
So sad she's dead a hero of our time rip queen Lizzy
Did anyone notice the subtle mockery in the tone of the narrator of the Ghanaian people?

I bet she was salivating over all that gold lmao
Considering her wealth, she's probably tired of seeing too much gold.
