for sure edsy.org/s/vOeBRfs i'm still playing with different hardpoint combinations. in the video i have 2 medium and 1 small gauss cannons, but i've downsized to 1 medium and 2 small which generates less heat during firing.
An almost full-length feature film on the most thrilling and fascinating of all gameplay loops in ED by a CMDR with exceptional skills, unflappable character, sage-like patience and best of all, a sense of humour. Thoroughly enjoyed it and added it to my ED AX Masters playlist. Kudos - from a CMDR who has killed 1 Cyclops with a Krait MkII and has felt as proud as a freeborn peasant.

I am really struggling with Thargoid combat - my Anaconda isn't really set up for it and i'm now below 100mil in credits having spaffed about 150mil + on new ships over the last week at 20mil a go. Now back at Jameson trying to grind back the cash I lost to go back in again probably with a smaller ship :(

This was a masterpiece of an experience. The flying skills, the tenacity, the insight, the outright fear I felt when you were inevitably floating in the drift...
Also the sound design of this game is on its own level...

Wow great content, I'm just getting into the Thargoid war myself, played ED for years but never bothered with the Goids until recently, I got quite a few good pointers and learned a few things I hadn't learned elsewhere! That was a pretty good haul credits/hour. Would have been right at 100 million/hour if not for that one cyclops theft. This could get very lucrative in groups.
AX conflict is really good, I've been doing it forever now.
It's a steep learning curve but when interceptors payout 8mil, 24mil,40mil and 60mil each depending on the type of interceptor, you can easily gain a billion within 6 hours or so
every friday the Anti xeno innitiative discord hosts a "finance friday" basically just huge group slaughtering thargoids. bought a FC from just 3 of thoose

From personal experience in this game, Full EAXMC build is perfectly good for Cyclops and Basilisk.
With a medusa, i needed AX NPCs to help exerting the hearts. Hearts themselves melted fast.
Hydra... Yeah. Not ready to even try. Probably have to switch back over to HOTAS an FA off flying for that.
I'd like to battle the scouts while others deal with the death flowers. Also, support with repair limpets

Just finishing up my Chieftain shieldless build. Finally unlocked all the guardian modules and weapons. MOre fun than I thought actually. Going without shields is counter-intuitive, but it works for the xenos. Dunno about PVP etc. yet.
definitely bring a shield for PvP, you'll be in trouble without one! congrats on finishing your build, have fun out there.

My only advice is leave your text up a bit longer
With your ability to avoid getting oozed by caustic stuff I wonder if it would be better to take dedicated repair limpets instead of the scrubber one... You can still burn the caqustic ooze of if you happen to get hit.
maybe, as it would save me some time and limpet synthesis. but i think the decon limpet saved me in the end, i doubt the canopy would've survived a few seconds at overheat. like everything else in outfitting, it's just a matter of picking your tradeoffs.

Thanks for sharing the experience. How much repair does a decom limpet do? looks like 5% ... wouldnt an actual repair limpet be better? Were you more setup for scouts?
the one i have equipped repairs 180 hull integrity. a repair limpet would give more, but does nothing for the caustic damage. i find i prefer having them at hand rather than burning the caustic off the hull.
Does every ship interior look the same? Might get this game while SC is being dumb. Gg btw that was pretty awesome

i use a single VKB gladiator, it's a great stick and i find the basic throttle knob is sufficient for FAoff.

I'm running the same ship, but I've noticed the beam laser doesn't get me to 0 temperature at all, best at 34 or so. I've engineered it at level 5 but I've made it Efficient rather than Long Range as expertimental. Do you think that's the reason for it? Also, my aser is turreted. Also, thanks for the video!
to my understanding, the thermal venting is an inverse of the heat that would be generated otherwise. so yes, efficient will have greatly reduced the effectiveness. i've heard that turrets also do less cooling than gimbals and fixed when engineered that way.

@@TheBlackOf1993 it's a fair question, and mainly a matter of preference. the biggest reason is that i like to keep an AX multi-cannon to deal with scouts and partially cyclopses, saving more of my gauss rounds for the bigger targets. another reason is that i don't like staggering my gauss cannons across a firegroup, which is something you usually need to do to keep your temperature low enough when running 4 and firing them all. however, most people opt to run 4 because it gives you maximum dps output, and staggering the firegroup is a very valid strategy.
How do you manage to maintain such a steady aim with FA off? Every time I even try FA off, I end up getting into a seemingly unstoppable cycle of overshooting my rotation and overcompensating that makes it nigh impossible to hit anything with fixed weapons.
practice and patience. try just docking with FA off first, there's a training simulation you can access on your right hand panel that'll spawn you in a free sidewinder to try with.
One of my go to exercises for FA off is go to a station with the rings and "tether" your nose to a point on that ring and follow it at different distances and angles
whatre your input controls? this is some smooth flying and fighting
i use a single VKB Gladiator joystick. great stick, i do recommend it, although if you want a dedicated throttle you'll need another solution. thanks.
question: why are most AX builds I see hull-tanks if it's well established that shield tanks are the way to go in this game?
What's stopping me from taking an engineered Cutter load it up with the biggest guns I can find, a shutdown field neutralizer and blasting Thargoids up?
To my (inexperienced) knowledge, I believe it's because of the fact that thargoid weapons have phasing, and that combined with the shield giving you a larger hitbox, means taking a good chunk of damage
it will depend on the ship. larger ships do indeed prefer shields and shield cell banks even for AX combat, but smaller ships can use speed to their advantage so reducing your hitbox size and heat signature is more effective. the cutter is a very potent if expensive way to fight thargoids, nothing is stopping you at all!

What is meant by 'it's more _efficient_ to re-arm on empty?....
in terms of materials. you can only fill up to your maximum ammo, and it costs the same amount of synthesis materials regardless of how many rounds it will require to reach your maximum ammo. so if you're rearming at 50% you're only getting half as many rounds for the same cost compared to emptying your reserves.
I wish I could buy the nesserary weapons right away and join the fight. I'm not making it in time before the end of humanity , if I have to gind for these....
You can just buy human AX weapons, and they're in the process of being significantly upgraded. Guardian tech will still be better but you will soon be able to be relevant in an AX fight just by spending credits. Grind is optional but helpful.
I just don't get how you don't get the swarms an you. Whenever I do it, I get them on me and a bunch of caustic misses shot at me
it's all about the lateral thrust and keeping your speed up. around 8:33 i mention keeping track of the swarm and orbiting away from it.

best place to check would be the wiki, or ask in the AXI discord. the marked rescue megaships sell most of it.
