Nice and Portable! My mind immediately raced to figuring out how to add a 2nd camera and an ATEM Mini running out to my LiveU to bring out into the field for livestreaming events... Thanks!
Man, your really pushing the envelope here! TH-cam notification says "DSLR Video Shooter...Entire TH-cam Studio Setup..." and I can't help but click because I know that creative inspiration is on the way! Loving these creative ideas for a TH-cam setup!
These setups were very popular last year during the pandemic for TV productions especially “Reality” TV shows. There was also a company selling a similar setup like this for crazy amount of money. Cool seeing how you put it together and also being budget friendly.

I love it. Peter McKinnon puts out a one stand TH-cam studio video 2 years after Caleb and Caleb responds with a studio in a case a few days later. Nice, Caleb!
I TH-cam from an RV. I've been following your builds for a while, trying to figure out a way to make an outdoor version work. This is the way. Thank you so much.
I don't know, but I often do a video without research and find out later someone else already did a video on it. Everything is a remix? 🤔 I try toggle everyone the benefit of the doubt!
Not just for TH-camrs, but for remote teachers this is a solution in a box for a flip up and get things done setup. And the possibilities are endless, one can fully customize that pelican case to their particular needs, the one you showed is just the inspiration the blueprint, although such studio in a box isn't a solution for everyone, for the right demographic this can be game changing. Great work 😎👍
Wow another great portable solution! I love it when you tinker because there is always a practical useable result when your done. I am learning alot, thank you for sharing your efforts. Keep on keeping on.
Nice setup ... I use the same Pelicase for other setups. Undestructable - even after many years. Next "case-idea": Charging-setup. I use that for some time now with all my chargers in one place. Simply plug-in charge whatever needs energy. Great video!
I was thinking a few days back how to use a room without cluttering it with stands. Figured I needed a mix of ceiling bars and maybe the desk setup. Then this appears!!! Thank you so much!
Next up on DSLR Video Shooter: An Entire Production Facilityt in One Altoid Tin! ...or something 😋 I love your videos; I've especially had so many great solutions come to me from watching and rewatching the long unlisted one that accompanies your shorter video on the wireless audio kit, and applying the principles from that. It would be cool to mount a second camera to have a "plug 'n' play" two camera interview setup, and make some sort of stiff, foldable board, maybe aluminium or plexiglass, for rain protection to mount to the lid and sides. But what I'm really thinking is that this is a great starting point for my dream "music and video production studio in a carry-on suitcase" project, but one of the disappointments has been how hard-shell suitcases are conceived for clothes, not hardware: a lot of space is wasted on rounded sides and edges and the sleeve for the telescopic handle, and because the lid is always half the size and weight of the suitcase, you can't mount anything heavy to it. It will flip backwards even if you add straps to keep the lid at a 90° angle unless you keep all the rest of your stuff in the suitcase at all times. This case makes more sense
Love it - so many good ideas in such a dense space, literally! Here is my challenge - how to add a teleprompter to the setup? Maybe with a second foldable stand affixed to the bottom of the case?
I leave in a couple weeks to film a TV show and I am ordering this setup to keep with me for BTS footage and vlogging after each day when shooting wraps. This is going to be awesome!
Caleb Pike, you rock! I've learned so much watching your channel. You've cost me a bundle, but it's all good. Your advice and reviews have been spot-on, and my Zoom sessions look and sound better than any of the other participants! Ditto for my home videos of the grandkids. They look like they were shot by a pro.
Super setup Caleb. That has to be one of the best travel setups ive seen. Super impressed with all of your studio and desk setups. now you're adding travel into the mix!!. Stay safe. Ray and Sue
Yet another terrific studio build! Being able to take this to a different place (in or out of the house) and even on the road is fantastic. Thank you, Caleb!
Thanks for sharing. I would add two small tripods (gorilla pods) or additional arms for GoPro’s so I could have a three camera set up. So I would add two additional monitors as well and a larger power strip.
I BUILT THIS!! Just had to come by and say THANK YOU for this video. I'm a solo creator who struggled filming/recording content at conferences and when I got tired of using two iPhones and cheap lapel mics, I found this video, bookmarked it, and then started saving up for the equipment. I built a very similar kit over the Christmas break and got a chance to finally try it out at a conference. Was able to record so many interviews without having to worry about storage, wifi, or carrying a huge box of supplies around everywhere. Just wanted to say thank you for the inspo and helping to make my life easier!
Great build! I would consider placing an ATEM Mini Pro ISO in the bottom as well. Then if you're traveling with a laptop, secondardy camera(s), etc, you could also modulate the setup to be a multicam somewhat easily. The harder part would probably be the monitor at that point, as there would be multiple views to switch between.
Way cool. You could also power this with an NP-F battery setup - that I learned about from one of your DSLR video rig videos. Add an HDMI cable and a USB video capture device and throw a laptop in the case and you have a great streaming setup for remote interviews, like those that have taken over TV news since COVID. It would be fantastic for people on the road in hotels.
I built something like this once in a Pelican back-pack, with a laptop and power bar for 2 cameras. Used it for event photography and it was pretty awesome. Keep in mind the Pelican back-pack does lay-flat in the field - which is nice - but it weight 8 pounds *empty* so you better pump up at the gym if you gonna use it...!!! But yeah data-wranglers and digital imaging techs have been doing this kind of things for years. Really great set-up you have going on here. I could probably slam a GoPro in my backpack and be able to live-stream from the set to the client :D
Cool setup! I made something similar but not with a pelican case. I used a think tank sling bag for my camera, lens, filters and Rode Go, iPad and a iPad clamp to attach to a light weight tripod to go record my university lectures out in various locations around the university I teach at. It was fun, easy and quick to set up without being too heavy.
I’d add a cross bar on the lower right portion of the case, and add one more friction arm. So i could mount a shotgun mic and monitor at the same time. Love the idea. If I ever start youtubing, I’ll have one built in no time!
What a fun idea! I can't wait to see further iterations of this idea as it makes its rounds through all of the creative and clever camera people as they adapt it to their uses and budgets.
This series is so genius dude! I could totally use a set up like that right now for clients that need to film themselves all of a sudden. Instead of a monitor at the left, I'd make that and the right side an LED panel for two way front lighting, would even add some good catchlight for the eyes. I would attach and hdmi capture device, with a usb-c cable out so they can just plop down their laptop and directly livestream, or record on the laptop using OBS or Quicktime. Yah know what, that could be a great video idea. A high quality zoom set up you can take anywhere, that would be very valuable for news casters who now broadcast from their homes, and lots of executives and influencers who need some shallow DOF in their zoom or livestream sessions.
The Edelkrone FlexTilt head might seem extravagant but having used one for the last couple years, I can say that it's a really nice piece of gear and opens up some possibilities that you wouldn't have with a more traditional tripod head.
Great set-up! Hot tip - get a Nanuk 935 instead of the Pelican. Cheaper, same size and you can completely remove the lid. They even have pre-set holes for panel kits etc, love mine 👌
I love these set up videos. I used your desk TH-cam set up myself and it works great. I think I would have another tilt arm on the other side to sling a shotgun mic when I would want that, rather than a third cold shoe, for what it’s worth!
I really like this setup. It inspires me to a version even more compact that you could have in your backpack and maybe clamp to things. Also having something that can keep the case locked in the open position.
Caleb, you're a genius. I thought it was a totally nerdy idea when I saw the title/thumbnail, but then realized how great this would be in practical application for TONS of TH-camr scenarios. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
This is awesome! I’d probably add a lav mic to the Wireless Go and maybe some telescoping legs to the bottom that could fold up. Maybe also some handles to the top that could let you carry it like a backpack.
Amazing portable setup , everything set up and ready to go, great idea for a TH-camr that films in different locations, So much better than working out of a backpack.
Thank you, Caleb. I have quite a few of the pieces you use here, just sitting around. Now I can go to town! I hope LEGO gives you an honorary Master Builder title. You’ve earned it with this series.
Is anyone else not surprised that Caleb's garage looks like a movie set? It's good to know that your attention to detail never takes a day off. Unless we start talking about cable management.
Awesome Video!! Thank you so much. Would love to add or see some LED string light around the inside of the lid edge, for an array of different colours, but especially warm white. Thanks again, awesome video.
I see this kit can be very useful if I have to take my motorcycle out on mountains and just carry this box and shoot, no tripod no camera bag, just all in one case set up. Love your ideas
this is a cool build! you should put a small briefcase style latch on the corner of the pelican so the lid doesn't get blown shut with your camera extended
I LOVE Videos like these!! Solutions to common creator problems, make for great content. Always super helpful and handy. You always make videos that are just awesome!!!
That's really cool! and if you add a Laptop with a USB capture card, it can be converted to a cool portable-zoom-streaming setup. Thanks for your great job!!
The mod I would add : a toilet paper holder so I can do TH-cam from well... The toilets. I like this setup. With your camera riser I'm sure you could, by adding some kind of colored flat bases, make some cool products showcases, you know like the ones we shoot by having a top camera. 2 magic arms on each side, LEDs, you rise the camera and angle it horizontally and you got yourself a portable products shooting station. (LEDs instead of the Ninja and the Røde, camera articulated screen is mandatory).
Great simple but innovative system. There is a mount that replaces the lift handle and wheels, that would provide you with a baby pin adapter, so that you can mount it on a c stand
This is pretty awesome. That being said this and many of the other case builds will not hold up to travel or flying. This one is an improvement as the waterproof seal stays intact, but part of the reason we have cases with padded foam is to have the foam absorb the shocks when transported instead of the gear. When you mound things directly to the case or lid without foam or rubber shock absorbers, all of the bumps are going to travel directly to your camera and monitor and they are going to take a beating. If you're taking this around town yourself and can be delicate with it this is awesome. But don't try to.travel long distances with this without detaching the camera, monitor, and rode mics from the lid and putting somewhere they're protected by foam.
This is brilliant. Had the idea myself and started to set something up for my shows, have been inspired by your idea. Going to see how far I can stretch this idea! Thanks for sharing! :)
Way cool, Caleb. Love what you did here. My super budget kit starts with the camera on a mini-tripod (like the Switchpod). My Rode wireless GO receiver is on the cold shoe on top of the Rode camera. The transmitter is on my shirt just like you, and I'll use the built-in flip out monitor of the camera. No big clumsy box, much cleaner, cheaper, and I don't even have to buy or build anything.
Outstanding! I learned of your work from a presentation by Chris Lavigne of Wistia. Your presentation is just as cool as your case. No fluff, no wasted time, easy to understand, great examples, good reference material.
