For those of you, who have been watching our sailing vlog from the beginning you will know we are a a sailing couple who bought a sailing boat with no experience! We have been through all the ups and downs of boat life, with brand new rigging, Raymarine navigation equipment, getting our sails on and just general sailing boat DIY!
We learnt how to sail on our day skippers course in Gibraltar last year and we have finally had the moment to remember what we learnt and put our sailing knowledge to the test and learn how to sail again! Well, we are proud to say... we did it! It was the most beautiful summers day in Brighton, we got the sails out, managed some tacks, anchored off the beach for a swim and then ended the day with a BBQ on the beach! We can't imagine life gets any better than this, here's to plenty more sailing adventure and one day, who knows, sailing around the world?

GREAT!!!! But a little disappointed that there was no floorboard wrestling. In all seriousness, sailing in light air is much more difficult and stressful than in moderate to heavy air. Sails flog and make a lot of noise and it is harder to maintain speed and course. It is tiring, mentally and physically. The only relief is the pleasure of turning off the motor and hoisting sails and continuing to move. Enjoy the small successes. There will be many more. You might look at the DJI Osmo to replace the Go Pro. Much cheaper and great reviews. Also I learned from experience to use "dummy cords" (small lines attached to cameras, winch handles, any small thing that can fall overboard, etc). GREAT JOB.

LOL. We bought a boat for $50K with a budget of 100K. Figured it would take another $30K to bring her up to par leaving us $20K for misc. Just spent that last $20K of contingency money on all new rigging. Welcome to boat life!

You might want to fold the dodger/sprayhood down so that you don’t need to stand on the bench. That’s what we usually do when sailing.

No you can technically buy a boat and just go sailing😬 We have done our day skipper course, which gives you loads of knowledge to start out so is really recommended.
@@SailingIndiana I was asking just because I'm about to buy an english boat in Greece but....to sail it in Italy I'm required to have a license even if it's not an italian boat.....same old story: an italian mess.

@@SailingIndiana I was born in Addington hospital in Durban. Live in Sydney now but am returning to Cape Town next year to collect the catamaran that I've just ordered. Then off to sail the world. So excited.
