Majima gets so much (deserved) love in Kiwami. He gets a whole system dedicated to him, he gets the best boss fight in the first game and you get a hot date with Goromi. In 2 he has his own anthem, minigame, and a mini story where he dodges gunshots being fired point blank at him. After 0 they wasted no effort to let you know that this man is in fact, the fucking coolest.
Sega should really capitalise on his popularity and his craziness and release a Bishi Bashi Special/Warioware type party game style series starring him. Better yet an otome dating sim where all the men are different versions of Majima in his various disguises. The heroine should obviously be Michiru. :)

Other games - Darksiders 3, Imperator: Rome, Darksiders, Smile for Me, Little Misfortune, Darksburg, Crying Suns, Youropa, Townsmen, Tsioque. Some good games in there.
Given how Baseball has been such a constant and changed over the years I’m surprised they haven’t fleshed it out into something more substantial. Recruiting just like the construction or gang side stories seems like a home run to me.

@ yoruniji This is true, or is what I always believed to be true. Dead Souls was the last to use the engine that 3 and 4 used. The new engine (at the time) wasn’t a drastic change, but character models and particle effects were a noticeable step up. Due to the wait we had in the west between 4 and 5 some people probably expected more, but it’s understandable when you consider Japan didn’t wait so long and the devs didn’t have much time to become familiar with the engine. Considering the number of cities, fighting styles and move sets, massive amount of side characters and more fleshed out mini games I actually think 5 had the biggest jump in pretty much everything.
Next to 0, this was definitely the next best game, mainly for all of its callbacks to 0. More Majima? Yes. More Cabaret? Yes. More Yuki-chan? Hell yes. Granted, there's the pretty messed up ending. "I finally met the brother I never knew I had, he gets shot, and instead of taking him to a hospital you beat the shit out of him and let him die! Let's KISS!" This was also the only one of these games I've platinumed, mainly because of the infinite-use overpowered weapons you can get to clear the Amon fights and Legend difficulty.
I’d love for this game to have another super silly non-cannon game again like dead souls. Since Ichiban appears to be a much more humorous character I’d love for him to be roped into one of Minamida’s science experiments and be sent back in time to the Ishin games and his ancestor there be sent to the present. A fish out of water, back to the future style centuries spanning plot with actions in the past impacting the future look of Kamurocho and which Yakuza operate there.

Yakuza is such a strange yet brilliant series and in my opinion, strikes a perfect balance between cinematic moments and gameplay (despite some complaints about the cutscenes) that it's a shame the series isn't on all consoles. Sega really know how to be their own worst enemy sometimes with how they market (or don't) their games and the confusing mess over which games get released in what region and on what consoles. Taking the time to remaster 1 and 2 for the damn WII U and not release them on the much more popular and target audience owning 360 is a perfect big-brain Sega move for example. Maybe if Ichiban's melodramatic misadventures are popular on the Xbox it will be enough for 3, 4 and 5 to be released assuming Sony doesn't have some deal in place.
4:10 that's actually not unheard of in Japan. From what I understand, no one really wants to do the dangerous job, so they hire just about anyone with a pulse, & pay them peanuts, plus it's easy to launder money around in shell companies with all the different contractors in construction.
I honestly thought Majima's side story was the best part of the entire game. Not that the rest was bad or anything, but I just really liked the more focused plot, and I thought the villain (aka DIO with glasses) was pretty solid as well. Maybe it's because it followed up on the plot from Zero, which is still by far my favorite game in the franchise.
I somewhat enjoyed the construction mini-game, the cutscenes were mostly uninteresting, but at the end these characters had some really funny interaction, where you forget how they actually clothe and how evil they were supposed to be. But yeah, funny idea, but sometimes the AI doesn't do the right thing and it makes it hard to complete everything. Also I only miss 1 single trophy because for the love of god I don't understand Majong. Like I get the basic rules but jesus christ the combinations are so weird and convoluted and the AI is literally cheating.
True. The sad part is I hear that you can make major bank if you can play the mahjong games. Every Yakuza game it's never the combat.. the mini games. Those kill me.
I really should get around to playing this game someday, since I started with Yakuza 2 back in the day. Does Kiwami 2 still have that quest line where Kiryu has to work as a Host? It was one of the best side quests in the original but I’ve yet to hear anyone mention it being in the remake.

Why does everyone call the lighting an improvement? It's exhausting af. Especially with those reflections and LEDs all over the place at night. Headache material there..

Unpopular opinion, but the new dragon engine (kiwami 2 and Y7) is more comedic that crunchy... I like zero and kiwami 1 engine more.

Kiwami 2 cut that quest as well as a lot of other stuff thus making it my least favourite game in the series
