About 4:20 there’s actually a side quest where Kiryu actually talks about that person when you go back to Kamurocho with a certain someone. I still agree with you tho, there should’ve been some sort of scene where he laments over him. After all, this person has been there since the beginning.
This is actually my 4th favorite in the series for the dad aspect alone. This is by far the happiest Kiryu has ever been in the series and after the bullshit we see him go though from 0-2, it’s soo great to see him spend time with and inspire children. That bit with Taichi is one of my favorite moments in the franchise as a whole
I'm also currently playing Yakuza back-to-back until Yakuza 7 release few fays from now, and you know what? I think Yakuza 3's story have one of the best story, and I'm tired pretending that it's not.
I agree. I loved the first half of the game with the Orphanage dearly. Rikiya is such a great character and Mine is a pretty interesting villain. Calling it a Meh story is kinda crazy to me lol
This one's a weird one. The pacing is rough and YOU COULD RUN THIS WHOLE TIME ARE YOU SERIOUS!? So funny thing about the massage minigame, I did it and failed the first time and instantly goofed it again immediately after. This led to a chain of failures as I couldn't stop laughing at a frustrated Kiryu repeatedly going into a message parlor trying and failing to get it up.
I don't agree with "nothing happens at the start". The start of the game is supposed to be you building a connection with the kids and showing Kiryu's new life. I for one loved it.
It's funny since 3 was actually my first game that introduced me to the franchise and why I fell in love with it. I welcomed all the changes and updates, but I guess if it's the other way around it will feel jarring. Character-wise I think they changed some stuff with Zero through Kiwami 2, how he acts and all and 3 might be off-putting since he's in the middle of change here.
i mean yeah if u go from kiwami 2 to yakuza 3 its jarring but if you go from zero to kiwami 1 and then downgrade to the ps2 version of yakuza 2 then its gonna be oke btw the ps2 version of yakuza 2 isnt bad at all story is the same only it doesnt have some mini games but its better that way if you dont want to go from a great system to a meh system
Same thing happened to me, Yakuza 3 was my introduction to the franchise. I guess when it's like that, the other ones will always be better compared to 3 (although I enjoyed the heck out of it).
4:29 the one you are complaining about is in a optional scene yes he mourns that character in a optional scene It should have been mandatory to be honest
It’s kinda sad to see that most of the fan base dislikes 3 the most. I had the most fun playing it out of the other games and I liked the story. Yeah some of the mini games are poorly balanced but besides that I didn’t really see anything else to hate. I just feel weird knowing that no one else really likes this game.
To be honest when i saw okinawa beach i just instantly tought hey that looks like the beach area on Jabberwock Island in danganronpa 2 just minus the palm trees
yakuza 3 is a hard game to defend but every time i think about my time with that game the more i come to love it. it's a far more personal story than many others in the series, and while it does pull some stupid soap opera plotlines from nowhere it's corny enough to the point where i can give it a pass. it's minigames were quite lacking despite being the first game to include karaoke, and i might believe that yakuza 6 is pretty much just a direct upgrade from it, but i do really love this game, and it's villain is one of the best in the series. also regarding the character that dies, there's a side story where kiryu gets to talk it out with another character that also references the first thing you see him doing in zero. thought that was a fantastic touch.
1 thing I'm surprised you didn't talk about is how the enemies keep blocking every moves on hard difficulty & for a remaster they didn't remove the blocking at all.
When Yakuzas 3 - 5 were coming out, the series still wasn't popular and Sega barely even released them in the West. I'm so glad it's reached this point where it's become so popular. It's funny though watching how the order affects the experience. When I played 3, it was the latest Yakuza and a huge upgrade over PS1 era Yakuza 1 and 2 in terms of visuals and gameplay. Edit: PS2* era Yakuza 1 and 2. Little typo there haha.
I don't think majima was barley in the game. He was at the start of the game, got a whole chapter about him, involved with the plot, then showed up some more
You still keep talking about Kiwami 2 as the newest Yakuza game. But Judgment is the newest. Yes, you should add two more days of videos to this series for Judgment and FOTNS: Lost Paradise. Now chop chop, you have like 72 hours to finish two 80+ hour games. :)
Watched your last 3 vids... Found you by accident, so subbed and liked. You could go a bit more in depth tho, 5mins per vid is so low and barely scrapes the surface.
Ngl I liked the beginning “fluff missions” where really wholesome the gameplay was shit though but I accepted it since it was old but overall 3 is my favorite game the story was so insanely good
I felt that Kiryu's walking speed in Yakuza 3 was great. The speed was perfect for moving quickly without losing control. As for a run button? I'm pretty sure the game doesn't have one, and the article your editor put in doesn't actually say anything definitive. Other articles were just as inconclusive. At this point, I'll just have to test it myself when I have the chance.
I did not understand the Cabaret mini game in y3, but also after playing YK2, I agree the controls and everything is a bit .. bad. But its allright. I mean YK2 has the newer engine and everything. Also integrating the golf mini game in the story was not to my liking, since I hated it and just wanted it to be over xD Yeah I mostly agree with you on Y3 here xD
The combat in this game really put me off. I played it on hard after plowing through kiwami 2 on normal and man was it frustrating. Every enemy blocks your attacks and the fights tend to last forever
Here are some of my pros and cons for Yakuza 3. Pros: Revelations The Inner fighter 7 The cigarette heat action. Okinawa Kamurocho Lullaby. Engrish The chase sequences Cons: The hostess maker The golf mini game The orphanage The fishing mini game
Bruh yakuza 4 was iffy at best but 3 was so fucking cash but the gameplay wasn't great same with 4 but 5 is iffy like Jesus Christ it's so fucking long.
3 is definitely the worst one getting into the franchise now. It’s not bad at all. But the weakest one. But 4 and 5 are the best in the franchise by far
I loved the orphanage in 3. Really warmed my heart to watch Kiryu become the ultimate dad.
Finally a real mini game, thank you japan for teaching us fishing is the most important skill to have
every game must feel innovative to add this amazing original feature
Yes, without fishing games just don't feel like games anymore

I agree with you 100%. I love the hole orphanage storyline, and okinawa is still one of the best locations in the franchise.
I agree. I loved the first half of the game with the Orphanage dearly. Rikiya is such a great character and Mine is a pretty interesting villain. Calling it a Meh story is kinda crazy to me lol

2:03 ARE YOU FKING KIDDING? So i played 3, 4 and 5 without knowing that?
i feel despair....
Lol I went through the whole game not knowing you could spam r2 to run
Just like the good old days when you would play games without using half the stuff because it wasn't in the tutorial.
Actually that forum was just talking about chase battles. You can't sprint by mashing r2.
@@forastero54321 Yeah really nostalgic. Sometime i finish some game without knowing a one or two standart mechanic/ feature of the game

well i actually like 3 more than 2 4 and 5 despite it facing at least i found the story abit more straightforward
Nah 3 is one of my favourite in the series
Same, I love Y3. Its not one of my favorites but its still an amazing game.
The 24/7 block on hard difficulty really ruined the game for me
Man 3, Responsibility.
Idk I really like Yakuza 3 and It's actually my 2nd favorite Yakuza game. Gets ton of hate though. I mostly like it for the story
I will most likely play 3,4 and 5 for that PS3 era nostalgia

Kiryu is running an orphanage at the realm of light
It was before the darkness I mean the tojo clan

Don't bother. Normies despise old games.
Yakuza 3, aka Dad simulator
Yakuza 3 needs a remake tbh
Actually about the R2 to run or sprint, I don't think there such a thing. There was no sprint button until 0. R2 only works for chase sequences.
The revelations were my favorite part about yakuza 3.
sing dame dane right now

2:40 I honestly think Yakuza 4 was slow enough to be able to escape, at least in comparison to Yakuza 3 and 5, where it's just awful.

I agree if it's Okinawa due to how small it is. Walking around Kamurocho is a nightmare though.
If they make a Kiwami 3 will you check it out again?

The Inner fighter 7
The cigarette heat action.
Okinawa
Kamurocho Lullaby.
Engrish
The chase sequences
Cons:
The hostess maker
The golf mini game
The orphanage
The fishing mini game
Orphanage and fishing are pros for me
atleast the remaster is the full game unlike that atrocious first localization of y3.
