    I think Hollywood needs Carpenter more than ever now. I think a whole new original horror movie with him and Russel again would be fantastic.

      I just don't see it happening. John Carpenter has repeatedly said he doesn't want to do movies again, so his heart wouldn't be in it. He made a lot of great movies while he was at it.

    The critical panning of The Thing was a travesty. It's one of the best practical effects films ever made. Thank goodness audiences herald it as such nowadays. John Carpenter has long joined the ranks of horror maestros. I hope he and Kirt Russel collaborate at least one more time.

      We were blown away by The Thing as teens. It was very well received by us kids. Yes, ET owned the commercial aspect of it, along with a few others in 82. The critics that badmouthed it then, rave over it today. Screw them. I've never gone to see a film based on a critic review. Only a dope does that.

    • @XX-121
      @XX-121 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danielsweet858 death proof is awesome!!? but it's only one half of "grindhouse". to see it the way it was shown in the theatre you have to get either a special japan only dvd or certain blu-ray's have the theatrical version which is "planet terror" and "death proof" back to back with like 4 more of those "machete" style previews in between them. which another one, like "machete", was made into a real movie "hobo with a shotgun". they really screwed it up with the "grindhouse" home video release by trying to release them as separate films.

    I have THE idea that would be great for them to team up again. First, it's a sequel. Second, it involves another iconic figure. ESCAPE FROM...(city name). It's a Snake Plissken film, with a twist. It's basically the Billy Crystal/Robin Williams film Father's Day for the action set. Kurt's up there in age. The first lady's son teen son is trapped in the new city prison. She tells him & another man that the kid is actually their son, she having had affairs with both before marrying current president. The other guy? Dolph Lundgren as Frank Castle. That's right, the Punisher.

    The problem with Escape From L.A. was that it took too many years in-between the first one and that film to be created and released. Interest in the film was low that not too many people remembered Escape From NY unless you were born before it's release, knew about it and/or saw it. Having a unknown actor in the villain's roll was a HUGE mistake, not to mention none of the regular John Carpenter collaborators were cast in the film. If they had cast Keith David or Roddy Piper as the villain it would have been better. Also the special effects were very lackluster and don't hold up to today's standards

    I remember the Disney era Kurt. They left out Ghosts Of mars which is a great Carpenter film & My own opinion of Escape From LA is tht he nuked his own bad-ass character Snake Plisken w/ tht garbage.

    No directors and producers need to focus on the art of old school making of movies, idea will come, or people can just focus on the old themes already written, john said you take a bit of everything but not much only a bit, that bit creates the good story because sometimes some stories are rather absurd, stay old school, copy john carpenters way and the way of other great directors, use the imagination, my type of movie is just something so tense like the Space Odyssey or The Thing, its sci fi and horrrors I do like dramas and romance ofcourse, Joe Black, tho i am talking about suspense and mystery not romance

    Carpenter has aged worse than any other white man I know of...hardly recognizable today. But he sure has produced some smash films. "Big Trouble in Little China" is one of the most campy pics ever made. So bizarre, you have to have it on your bucket list....nothing else like it.
