Just like they did with their kits for: Generations Metroplex/TR Fortress Maximus, PotP Optimal Optimus regular/PotP Throne of the Primes Optimal Optimus (the Optimus Primal repaint), SS13 RotF Megatron/SS31 Battle Damaged RotF Megatron, Siege Ultra Magnus/Siege Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime/Kingdom Ultra Magnus, etc.
I'm waiting for the same DNA kit but for Scourge since I don't have Laser Optimus. My only complaint about that one is that the leg fillers are gray in color, and it just doesn't match with the black.
This upgrade kit is a pretty awesome add-on to this figure, for sure. DNA were definitely channeling MAKE TOYS when they designed these alterations, because back when the G3 deluxe version of this G2 Prime came out, he had no trailer and was still only a deluxe sized bot/truck, so MAKE TOYS created a tanker trailer with this look in alt mode, and turned into a huge weapons attachment in bot mode, plus had a base mode (which seems like was actually better because they could design everything about the trailer)... In addition, the set included a new G2 style head sculpt (w/a new ball socket neck), a new waist/crotch piece, and parts to attach to his legs to bump his bot mode up to a voyager sized bot... Additionally, it included a sword that lit up, and 2 double barrel blasters. It was a fantastic set, and I got a 2 for 1 deal so I could customize one into a trailer for my Scourge version of the figure too. This set really immediately took me back to that set, and does what it should do, quite well... Especially with the inclusion of new hands & gap filler parts...! Btw, Pvs.P... PLEASE, PLEASE, stop calling EVERY single port a "Mech-Tech Port"... They're JUST PORTS! Mech-Tech was the dumb@$$ gimmick for the 3rd movie line figures, and YES, THOSE were JUST PORTS TOO! They're JUST PORTS. Otherwise, a great review of a terrific looking upgrade kit, which I'll definitely be picking up!
If legacy g2 laser prime/ rid scourge looks like this with the upgrade kit+ weaponizers i can only imagine what the future armada Optimus prime will look like with his trailer+ jetfire+ overload, and the weaponizers will make Optimus prime a one bot army with the ultimate firepower

Legacy should do TFP Optimus because imagine the TFP body but with more G1 paint and a G1 matrix. Also the guns could be G1 but that will probably not look as good but it should also include the trailer.

Back during the run of Generation 2, yeah, there were largely colorful repaints of G1 stuff (including the canceled Protectobots & Stunticons) throughout 1993. But, like around 1994-95, G2 actually brought up some new designs, including 1993's G2 Tank Megatron (which started the entire Megatron as a tank thing). Laser Optimus, Combat Hero Optimus (smaller truck) & Megs (a smaller tank that would be reused for RiD01 Bludgeon & Robot Masters Reverse Convoy/Rebirth Megatron), the Laser Cycles (I think that Road Rocket may have been among these), and all them Micromaster wannabe Gobots (many of which were reused as Car Robots/RiD01 Spychangers). And definitely ignore the "G2" cartoon and even Marvel's G2 comics. 😏

Hasbro very rarely gets this right. Remember that Reveal the Shield Deluxe class Laser Optimus? That had a G1 Autobot emblem along with a Bayverse styled head and flame deco. I think that the only one in Legacy reppin' the G2 with a proper G2 emblem is Jhiaxus, but idk for sure, as there may be/have been others (like the Generations Selects G2 Arctic Camo Siege Megatron, G2 regular camo Earthrise Megatron, I think G2 Ramjet, & G2 Sandstorm...)

It’s just not what they are. Mech Tech was the auto-transforming weapons that was part of the Dark of the Moon line. It was just a gimmick for that line. I’m not saying what they should or shouldn’t be.. I’m just saying Hasbro stopped doing Mech Tech 13 years ago. Hasbro calls all slots like this “5mm ports”. If I wanted all holes if that size be called something other than what they were.. I would be the one being inaccurate. So I try and keep my wants out of it and just stick to the cold hard facts. MechTech was auto-transforming gimmick weapons with Dark of the Moon toyline, and it’s not what is being used today as that entire gimmick stopped back in 2011/2012. Hasbro has moved on since then, and many many many gimmicks have past since then.
My wishlist for future Transformers toys: Legacy Constructicons - The Legacy Constructicons are Core Class figures that are able to combine into Devastator just like how the Legacy Dinobots can combine to form Volcanicus. Legacy Offroad - A brand new mold for the Combiner Wars character Offroad, he has his axe weapon and dual blasters, and can form Menasor's left leg. Collaborative Spider-Man - Another original mold from Collaborative, I'm not sure what colors should his blast effects be, but they'll be molded just like his webs nevertheless. Collaborative Homermus Prime - Another original mold from Collaborative that transforms from Homer Simpson's car into the Optimus Prime parody from the Treehouse of Horrors skit "Untitled Robot Parody". I'm not sure what accessories should he have, but the obvious one in my opinion should be a figure of Homer himself. Buzzworthy Bumblebee Jetfire - A re-release of Studio Series Jetfire. Generations Selects Tarantulas - A toy accurate redeco of Legacy Tarantulas that also has a newly molded alternate head just like Skywasp and Buzzworthy Bumblebee Scorponok having Legacy Buzzsaw and Sandstorm's heads respectively as alternate heads.
Adds so much more to the figure now. Great review, really convinced me to get one for my own copy!

The trailer upgrades makes Prime look like he walked out of a Doom game.
DNA should make one for Bulkhead. I think making a new Riot Shield that can disassemble to bulk up the arms and legs is cool
