Pochok Bangusan is a local carinderia in Quezon City that serves an amazing version of grilled bangus, which is grilled milkfish, and it happens to be one of my personal favorite things to eat in the Philippines. The local restaurant is family fun, and they have all the typical Filipino food dishes set up and pre-cooked at the front of the restaurant when you arrive. All the dishes you can point to and choose from are delicious, but the real magic of eating at Pochok Bangusan is their grilled milkfish. Milkfish is the national fish of the Philippines, and it’s something that you have to eat when you’re there.
To make their grilled bangus (milkfish), they first flame grilled the fish, and I mean when he stuck it on the grill, it ignited into flames as the oiliness of the fish touched the hot coals. The fire was also fanned to keep it flaming hot throughout the grilled process. After grilling the fish on both sides, he then flipped it over on the skin side down, and topped it with a few heaping spoons of green tomato relish. The fish was creamy and sort of dry like a tuna, and the green tomato topping was sour and oniony. It was a perfect combination of ingredients.
Along with the grilled milkfish, Ying and I also chose a number of other Filipino food dishes that were already prepared including chicken organs adobo (I would highly recommend it if you like organs like we do), menudo which was a little different than any other version of menudo I’ve had, bulalo which is a famous Filipino food of bone marrow soup, and another of the of my favorite Filipino dishes that I tried for the first time, which was a roasted eggplant topped in krill paste / shrimp paste, and topped with a handful of chopped green mango.
The combination of all the foods we ordered, and especially the grilled milkfish, is was really made eating at Pochok Bangusan so memorable. Additionally, the family that runs the carinderia (local Filipino food restaurant / street food restaurant) were very friendly and you could tell that they enjoyed the food they were cooking and their customers.
If you’re looking for wonderful Filipino local food in Manila (it’s actually in Quezon City, but in Metro Manila), Pochok Bangusan is a fantastic place to eat.
Thanks to coconuts.co/ma... for the recommendation.

@@honesty990 these emotions and feelings are always part and it's a phase of our lives. Allah has a purpose why Humans have to go through something like this. It is pleasant reminder that this life is temporary. It is also a big reminder that we should remember Allah at all times. Count the things Allah has been providing us instead of looking for what is missing. Appreciate everything we have. Sometimes we tend to neglect even the simplest things, just like the roof and a home where we live in is neglected. Believe me that it is normal to feel lonely. But the hope that everything will be well should always stay in our hearts. In Shaa Allah. Ameen.
Watching this video should just be the second priority but turning to Allah through Salah and listening to the Quran should be the first.

People in the Philippines treat each other like family when they come around. Why do you think when we cook we cook way more than what we can eat. Whenever someone comes to a Filipinos house we ask "Have you eaten yet?" it's almost disrespect when you don't eat. Lol

Thank you for coming to the Philippines and advertise the local food of us. Just always remember to ask for chili as I know you like it very much. All our authentic dishes are good with chili. Even my son born in Canada love our local food with chili. Lastly I would recommend for you to travel the southern Luzon. More spectacular pilipino authentic food there. Try Bicol Express and pinangat, see the most perfect cone volcano in the world. Pinangat or tinoktok. 1 hour from Manila by air.

For the best bulalo you should drive down south to TAGAYTAY. That's the specialty of our province. Plus, the temperature is cold matched with a breathtaking view.

I disagree. Di masarap bulalo sa Tagaytay. Mas masarap bulalo ng Kapampangan. Pero sa view and weather wala ako masasabi sa Tagaytay.

I've seen a lot of foreigners say that Filipino food tastes bad and that it was the worst kind of food they have ever tasted...I think it's dues to a combination of different factors, they might have just eaten at the wrong place...or they just don't have enough knowledge about how to properly eat Filipino food...a lot of Filipino dishes and cuisines are highly reliant on condiments and dipping sauces, they don't just merely add flavor to the food but they actually add life to the food...without the condiments a lot of the dishes would taste bland and boring, I'm not saying that all Filipino dishes need condiments but those that really needs to be eaten with condiments and dips really needs to be eaten with condiments and dips...some great examples are - Kare-Kare and bago-ong (basically Kare-Kare doesn't taste great without the bago-ong but too much bago-ong could also ruin the Kare-Kare), grilled pork, chicken or fish with either soy sauce & calamansi or vinigar with salt & onions...even lumpiang shanghai wouldn't taste as good without the sweet & sour sauce.

Hey Mark, I totally love your videos and how genuine you are for actually and accepting and loving diversities of food and culture, someone who actually went out on a "Karinderya" type of eatery to eat to a rustic, wholesome home cooked filipino meals, lately i've been sick and tired of people using enticing titles and faking their reaction when trying Filipino foods just to get a lot of views from Filipinos.
PS. Sorry for the random rant, been a fan since 2017 peace!
