  • After spending time trying out different carburetors and doing other cosmetic clean-up, it was time to finally ride the little Honda CB175. It's a twin cylinder 4 stroke motor with 20 hp and top speed of about 80 mph.

This is the era that cemented my love for Honda motorcycles. It all started with a 305 Superhawk. Then my best friends CL175. My own SL100 and another friends CB350. And finally my own brothers SL350. All these bikes punched well above their weight. And they were so dead reliable. Winter summer they started practically every time on the first try. I had a dirt track behind my house that drew every dirt rider on the north end of town. With my trust SL100 I scared off many a Husky. They didn’t want to get embarrassed.

An excellent town commuter. Good handling, brakes - super little bike.

Nice bike. I had one back in the 70s while in high school. Thanks for the memories!

The whole CB series were available in Singapore mid 60s when I lived there...125...160..175...CB72 CB77...CB450.....ALL had twin carburettors and the chrome sided petrol in tank...the CB175 was certainly quicker than the later CD175 single carburettors bike....I would expect 80 mph..on a good day..!!...My mates Yamaha YL100 twin would do just over 70mph....with him flat on the tank...!!!!

These are nice, and I wanted to buy one, but it didn't have a title and I would;ve had to get a bonded title. Not sure if the top speed is 80 mph. Maybe if it is falling off the side of a bridge or cliff it will get going that fast. I like that road, not much traffic there. I am mostly riding in the city, which is not as much fun, although better than driving or taking the bus.

Such a nice riding bike. Seems more responsive than the CD175 we had back in the 90's. Thank you for posting.

In 1970 my roommate rode his CB175 from Tampa to the north side of Orlando on I-4. That took some stones. Cars all did 80 in those days. It was a very nice small displacement bike, but 70 miles on interstate?

These little twins (I had several CB160s and was a Honda mechanic for years) were very sturdy, I suspect you could ride one of them near wide open for fairly long distances though it would be tiring. Just make sure the oil level is kept topped up.

Video could have been good if they had taken the time to tell us a little about the bike
