I just signed up for Distrokid yesterday after dithering for a year. I have spent the last two years writing and recording and have two full albums with artwork and titles. But i have lived as a reclusive studio zombie for years and litterally know no people nor do i have any social media presence.I don't even own a phone, I'm watching your tutorials , thanks. I'm really not sure what to do next. but my general plan is to releace a single per month till Christmas, then an album. But as i am compleatly unknown i don't even know which Genre i would fit in. Thanks again for the posts, I'll be letting you know how it goes. Hopefully you will give me a bit more advice when I get my toe in the water. All the best.
If ur actually good and Intriguing you’ll have a better chance especially on tiktok even you want to be more talent than personality but if it depends on the artist and how they wanna build their image xD
That Distrokid is shown as the label isn't tacky. It's modern and in time. Record Labels have been fucking over musician since god knows when. This is musicians taking control IMO! :D

When we select the $20 plan where you got 1 artist, can you have two credit cards registered to the one account or not? Because we would like to get payments on eachothers credit card. - If yes, can you also select how many % of earnings each other gets from every song?
I am planning on making hiphop music - this means I wont get the "TH-cam Money" option - will I still be able to upload 'Official Music Videos/ Lyric Video" on my artist channel? Will I still be able to collect money from monetization if I do so? -- or in general what happens if you upload your singles to TH-cam without clicking the $4,99 TH-cam money option Also, I want to make my own 'Official Audio' videos - will they still go to TH-cam Music (if I don't click the TH-cam Music option when I release on Distrokid) or is this only possible if do click the TH-cam Music option -- I only ask because I know Distrokid makes 'Official Audio" videos that are not very aesthetic I know its a lot, but a reply would be appreciated
You or anyone eles can upload your music thats released unless you use the audio tracking feature. The audio tracking detects your music and will notify you if it detects that someone has uploaded it or used it anywhere including TH-cam. You will be sent a notification and then you decide if You want to allow it or if You want it blocked.
My question is ( and i hope you see this and answer me quickly) for all the artists you produce, did you open a 5 to 100 account or just one account to distribute their songs

No, A Release officially comes from Distribution services only. Bandcamp and TH-cam are releases however they are not in the distribution systems outside of thise platforms.
Btw if I buy the 19.99 distrokid option and I wanna upgrade to the 35.99 one , will it make me pay only 16 more dollars or will it make me pay the full 35.99?

Very awesome video! I have a question that distrokid support doesn't seem to respond to clearly as it is their robot system iam dealing with. Upon registering my song ( a single) to distrikid for distribution do it get a ISRC code for that song generated by distrokid?
The accounts are auto generated, some services like TH-cam let you make your own additional accounts some dont. For Spotify you have to request your account from them onces your Distrokid is set up.

Only one user account should have the music on there and the other must be listed as a collaborator, you cant upload and publish the same music from different accounts.
If only they could remove the annual payment for content id while they charges extra 20% from loyalty. They should keep that 20% loyalty cut and remove that annual charges for all your releases with content id. That's the only reason why im thinking about moving to ditto......
It's tricky - you have to pay some money upfront. I would look at the fine print for everything and then make a decision from there, overall I think covers are great for TH-cam and originals are better to release for DistroKid

They refund you your money back and then charge your card for the 35.99

Once ISRCs have been assigned, you can see them to the right of track titles on the album pages of your DistroKid dashboard.
So this means u have to have an account on all the platforms that u want distrokid to distribute to?

It's tough to say - there's a lot of factors (are you using royalty free samples, etc). Overall yes, but there are a lot of rules now

It depends if it's Public Domain or not - I'd suggest doing a "cover" of public domain Christmas Songs - that way, it more counts as an original
