If you are an expat planning to put roots in the Phillipines, the first time you land, look for the nearest mountain/hill, secluded beach with a breathtaking view. Climb the top or find the most solemn spot, then... scream, shout, cry, and just let all your anger, frustrations, regrets, etc. out at the top of your lungs! Then, write them down with a piece of paper and bury them there. Turn around and start being a new man/woman or person. 😊 Welcome to the Phillipines, and we welcome a new you!😊
Hi John, I have been living in the PI for over 5 years and have been following Philippine news and politics for over 50 yrs. I am a friend of G&H too. They like my sense of humor. I first came here in 1997 and wanted to travel around, see as much as I could, and hopefully find a Girlfriend. I found my GF working in Hong Kong where she was working for a Chinese family as a Nanny. A year later, we got married by the mayor of the city she was from. I was working in Taiwan teaching English. I went back to the USA and worked on getting her Visa to the USA.. We had a great time in Arizona, then I retired from teaching and got a job as a Park Ranger with the US Fish and Wildlife Service for year. Maita started working as soon as she got her Green card and did very well. About 12 years later, she asked me if I wanted to move back to the Philippines. I said yes and here we are. We picked the right place for us as She has plenty of family around, the weather is great and the locals are very friendly and welcoming to us. Happy to be here.
I think it's better to wait at least 5 years before getting legally married. Once all the issues are settled, writing a prenup to solidify the relationship is wise.
Love your content I have watched you for a while. I think that you provide good insight and I don’t know I guess maybe it’s just me but financial worry is always been something I’ve had to deal with and it’ll be no different for me over there than it is here, I’m always concerned that I don’t have enough. I think that’s primarily because of the way I grew up.
I really appreciate your encouragement. The financial piece is tricky over here, though lots of guys are finding ways to make it work. Feel free to message me if you want to discuss potential options.
You advised me about opening a swim school in the past. Thanks. Your video is really smart. I have made some of these mistakes. Getting attached to someone, yeah. Year and a half and I'm trash for some reason. LDR is tough. Maybe she need more money. Anyway I'm going to Pangalo this time. Hoping I live it. See you in November through February!

Great info John I'm guilty of most of this to some degree for me theres just some things you can't plan for .Emergency funds is really a must I came for 30 days trial run 7 months ago lol had a plan just didn't stick to it I stayed I've made the best of it been a priceless learning experience
Some of this is spot on. Especially the part about using your eyes instead of your mouth. I don’t agree with you on criticizing a server who gives you very poor service. If you don’t say something to them, it’s never going to change and improve. I have had the worst service in the Philippines of any place I’ve ever visited. It’s no different than I would complain in my home country. It’s not that I’m toxic. You claim it’s more that I have high standards. I just feel it’s better to call a spade to spade. And in the end, it’s less gratuity for the server so they really need to understand.
Definitely the best medicine is not to worry about politics. Reading what is going on back home is toxic, living here just worry about myself enjoying the experience and climate living here. Stress free

The biggest mistake is to be an expat. If you can afford it, be a snowbird here. I own 2 properties in Fl. I enjoy the hunting and fishing seasons there. I own a condo at Mandani Bay in Cebu City. I stay there 5 mos. 3 weeks, then go home before I need an exit clearance. I use a visa agency and have never step foot inside a BI office and their associated BS I tell every woman I meet that any relationship is over when I go back to Florida. I meet a new woman when I come back over. When the noise, pollution, poor service, bad internet, out of stock items gets on my nerves, I go back back to Florida, hunt, fish, smoke legal pot. Then when I want to meet a good looking morena, I come back to Cebu. 39 yrs. old, retired, no desire for marriage or commitment. Life is sweet
Just another sex tourist! I don't think it's a good idea to treat a foreign country as a place to use the people there to satisfy one's physical needs. Shameless!
@@newtonlee10 if a girl presses charges for abandonment or if I unknowingly get involved with a married woman and her husband presses charges (happened to a friend), I can leave before I need to get an exit clearance. Better safe than sorry
plenty of foreigners get jobs in the Philippines is it illegal yes but it happens all the time you get paid under the table I work club security for many years in Cebu.. with no problems
I live in USA, but am not American. In 17 years, no American has ever told me that I shouldn't voice a political opinion on account of being a foreigner. What's so damn fragile about Filipinos and political opinion ?

No matter how old you are, how ugly you look the Filipina ladies always tell you " you're handsome" once you exit the plane you automatically become rich and handsome.
My Filipina wife loves my white skin. She calls me her little milkfish. And she also thinks I am pogi. I am not bald, though, I still have a head full of hair. And a beard.
Great advice not only for rookies but for veterans also
Thank you very much.
