I have a salt water tub - I was told that when I drain it I need to be careful because the water would be toxic to plant life. Is that true? I live in a rural area and I have a septic system - can I drain it right into my septic system or will that harm the system?
We purchased a Hot Springs Prodigy. We get it in about 1-2 weeks, FINALLY.. I see that it says salt water system ready. Is there anything special I need to do to turn it into a Salt tub. We have not started it obviously but really thinking about making it a Salt water tub.
Yes you have to purchase the hardware and module to make it salt capable. You should be able to call your dealer and get that added as we do it in the field
Can I use these principles with a smart chlor (or something) system? I just invested a lot in this and other products. I wish I had found you before I bought it.
On a fresh fill, my alkalinity and ph were good numbers, but then when I added 1/2 of recommended salt my alkalinity and ph went straight up. Why did that happen? I added some pH decreaser (2 Tbsp)
What brand of salt did you add? (type). How long did you wait until you tested it again. You need to wait at least 24 hours between tests before making adjustments. If you tested it right after adding the salt and the salt didn't have a chance to dissolve properly you had too many undissolved solids and it really messed up your test strip. Give the chemicals time to work before adding more chemicals. Always wait 24 hours before reacting to the test.

I would drain in the yard I have for decades and have never killed a thing. I would avoid your septic system

You can. I’ll send you a playlist that I send to all my smart chlor customers. You can skip the control panel video.
