  • In this video we teach you how to set up the Ring Indoor Camera 2nd Gen with a built in privacy shutter.
Ring Indoor Cam Gen 2: amzn.to/3MPNDUO
The New Ring Indoor Cam Gen 2 is an update from previous generations in that it now includes a built in Privacy Shutter that allows you to completely block the footage and cover the video feed with a physical cover.
When the privacy shutter is activated the camera is blocked by the plastic privacy shutter but it also deactivates the camera feed so that it no longer is streaming audio or video.
The Ring Indoor Cam Gen 2 features 1080HD video, day and night vision and two way audio and communication.
The addition of the Privacy Shutter to the Ring Indoor Cam is a great upgrade because it allows you to have complete privacy with the physical barrier that blocks the live camera video feed.
The video quality on the New Ring Indoor Cam Gen 2 is good in both day and night vision and the camera is prefect for monitoring interior rooms.
How To Set Up Ring Indoor Cam 2nd Gen
    1. Plug In Ring 2 Gen
    2. Download Ring App
    3. Follow instructions on ring app for set up.

push the gray casing with both thumbs away from the up arrow. You might have to push down a little on the gray casing as you are pushing towards the down side of the casing

Great detail with all the information I needed with exception of how to remove the bottom mount plate so it could be wall-mounted. Seems like the outdoor stick up. Cam’s were pretty simple. This one seems to be different.

It would have been very helpful to know how the new generation unit mounts. Even Ring chat support can't seem to figure it out

I purchased 2 of these and they do not connect to my wifi, it keeps saying password is wrong (even when it is correct).
My wifi network runs both 5ghz and 2.4ghz, some devices run in the 5ghz and I attempted to install this on 2.4ghz but no luck!
Did you have any difficulty before going live on your channel?
Ring are sending new ones out but quite surprised, usually very easy set up!

I think you may have to "tell your router" to use only 2.4ghz upon setup.

Two questions. I have just the one device subscription plan. If I was to get this second camera, what features would be eliminated if I don't upgrade my plan? I know I would not have cloud storage/capture...but what features would be gone?
And second...if I was to set the camera up and install, but then normally have the camera unplugged and not in use, will it work when I plug it in...or would I have to do a full set-up each time?

Can I use it without wifi? I do not need to record or anything. Just need to watch from a different location. Not sure if it can be plugged directly into the TV or not.

Is it able to connect to any WiFi? I know some security cameras require 2.5 GHz.

But does the Privacy cover mute the mic too? I assume it does, but you shouldn’t have to reconnect every time you cover it.

Yes, it does. It auto reconnects after about 2 minutes but for the video I just pressed the reconnect button to make it happen faster.
