In this video we show you how to install the new Ring Video Doorbell Wired that was released in 2021. The Ring Video Doorbell Wired is different from other doorbells in the Ring line up in that it has most of the same features as the higher end Ring doorbells but comes in at a much lower cost.
The catch is that the Ring Video Doorbell Wired must be wired and that it also disables your existing doorbell chime when it's installed because it requires a jumper wire for installation. Even though the Ring Video Doorbell disables your existing chime, Ring has wireless doorbell chimes that work with the Ring Doorbell and can be connected through the app to work with your doorbell. The advantage of the wifi chimes is that you can place them anywhere you want throughout your home for installation and you can have multiple wifi Ring chimes connected to one Ring doorbell.
Another advantage of the New Ring Video Doorbell Wired is that it only requires 10V AC for operation so most existing doorbell transformers will work with the Ring Video doorbell wired.
To Install The Ring Video Doorbell Wired:
    1. Turn off the power to the doorbell at the circuit breaker.
    2. Remove the existing doorbell chime cover.
    3. Install the Ring Doorbell jumper wire in the existing doorbell chime.
    4. Replace the doorbell chime cover.
    5. Remove your existing Doorbell Button.
    6. Wire the existing doorbell wires to the New Ring Video Doorbell.
    7. Secure the New Ring Video Doorbell Wired with 2 screws.
    8. Restore the power to the Ring Doorbell.
    9. With the power restored to the doorbell it should light up.
    10. Download the Ring App or login to the Ring app to begin the setup process on your phone. Follow the setup instructions and scan the code on the side of the Ring Video Doorbell Wired to connect it to your phone.
    11. Follow the instructions in the app and complete the set up of your Ring Doorbell Wired.

Great video, truly helped me set-up in 30 minutes, and I'm almost 60 yrs old. The one thing I noticed is if you set-it up with Alexa (Echo Dot), it will ring through the Eco Dot, you hear a chime on the Eco Dot, so I didn't need to buy the ringer for it. Thank you once again.

I did it in 15 min and I’m 70. Rings through my Ring control box and Ring apps on iDevices. I had an older SECŪR360 installed last, which changed all the original wiring. I ended just connecting the transformer output to the doorbell wires directly. No ding-dong yet on my Echo Dot gen 2, but I have a newer Echo coming. Now we need an 80 year old to do it in 10!

We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

Find your transformer...whichever room/closet it is located in or near then that's probably the circuit. Turn off the breaker and see if the doorbell no longer works. If no longer works, then you have found the breaker.

Enjoyed the video! I was looking to see how I needed to install a different version of the ring doorbell and stumbled upon this, really informative! At the moment I don't have a doorbell at all so I was trying to see what was needed from start to finish. From the sounds of it since this version does not utilize the chime and have to install the jumper if you are replacing a previous doorbell, is a mechanical/digital chime even needed if you're doing a fresh install? Looks like you could just take low voltage wire and run it to the junction box where the transformer is and bypass the chime all together, then get the remote plug in chime for the sound.

If the Ring doorbell is hardwired as shown in this video, will it ring inside the house without purchasing and installing the "Chime"?

So my doorbell chime has 4 screws instead of 3. One is labeled comm, trans, bell 1, and bell 2. I only have one doorbell. Is it safe to assume that comm and trans is what I need to use for jumper wire?

What if I have a front and rear doorbell on my house but I am only setting up the RING on my front doorbell. Will the back doorbell still ring to the chime?

Does the jumper cable go above or below the old wires?

What if I don't have a old door bell but the wiring is there. I had earlier removed wired door bell and installed wireless doorbell
    Thank you

Did you have to drill new holes or able to use existing doorbell holes to install?

I assume it doesn’t matter-that it is only making a completed circuit, but want to still ask if it matters which wire is attached to each terminal. Thank you for your video!

I'm about to buy this also so watching a few videos now. The power required seems to be AC, which means you can wire any way you like, the internals will correct it by rectifying it automatically if needed. So you are good to go.

It doesn't matter, but I always follow the AC outlet rule: the white (neutral) is usually on left and the red or black is on the right side. Usually.
