    Mark Tremonti soloing is the perfect mix of technique and emotion. Probably the best in metal at doing both since Dimebag.

    Slash is popular because his riffs are catchy and memorable but in terms who the most skilled is, its not even close. Tremonti is more skilled than most guitarists, plus not only is he technically great, he also puts so much emotion in his music. Blackbird is beautiful.

      @@dopler7922 no when alter bridge or Tremonti tour, mark does a guitar clinic hours before the show. You get up on stage with him for about an hour. You chat with him while he shows you licks and tricks and other song writing stuff. Then after that he takes you to the bands sound check and they perform 3 songs for you and a small group. Then you take pictures, he signs whatever you want and off you go

    Tremonti is the best in the world right now. Vai and Satriani are not able to wrench emotions out of the guitar like Mark can. Back in the early Journey days, on their first two LP's, Neal Schon was such a guitarist. So too, was Buck Dharma of BOC. It is a rare talent to be able to translate pain, joy, sorrow or any feeling through an instrument.

    I think Mark Tremonti and Slash should not be compared, Tremonti has more technique than Slash, but do not think that makes him any worse or better than the Slash up because they both have different styles of soils and both make great music. sorry my english, I'm from Brazil :)

      Depends on the criteria to define what makes one better than the other. Slash is my favorite but there’s a reason why Mark is called “The Tremonster”. Slash is more marketable because of his image, but Mark is a far better musician.

      Pra mim eles tem algumas características parecidas.... O que mais chama a atenção é o uso do pedal wahwah nos solos. Sou fã dos dois, Slash usa basicamente escalas pentatônica o que faz os solos saírem mais melódicos, mas o Mark faz os solos saírem de forma tão melódica quanto, já a qualidade do som, se você ouvir ambos tocando solo no violão, fica bem descarado que Slash suja muito as notas, ou seja, não deixa a nota soar de forma clara, característica comum pra alguém que está aprendendo rsrs... Toda via, ambos são legen...espera um pouquinho... Dario!!

      He actually did some great stuff in Creed, but it was always in the background because Scott Stapp is an egotistical sociopath. He had some really tasty riffs. Listen to Bullets and you can definitely hear where songs like Metalingus and White Knuckles came from.

    • @danyking660
      @danyking660 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Wtf is going here? Creed was great, too. They had a different style and their music wasn’t that aggressive. The solos at Alter bridge are also great but the combination of Tremontis guitar and Stapps voice was just amazing. By the way creed was way more successful and weathered is the most successful album in America of ALL TIME. 74 Weeks Number 1 just the Beatles did that too. If you just look at their music it was one of the best bands ever. I also like Alter bridge but I’m tired of this Scott Stapp bashing. He made mistakes but he also had one of the best rock voices that ever existed.

  • @gingaleanda

    I agree it is kind of predictable when heard like this but listened to in context in the albums and the guy is a songwriting genius. I personally know a guitarist, no one of any note, who can write superbly crafted song but as a player is quite limited. Tremonti has both these skills, in his head he has access to an bottomless pit of excellent riffs, knows emotive soloing and can piece it together with his signature sound. In this regard he reminds me of Steven Wilson.

  • @zacmey8263
    @zacmey8263 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Even Tremonti doesn't sound like studio Tremonti exactly. Now I don't feel as bad.

    • @dzonyyya
      @dzonyyya 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because he is playing live here. Studio versions are always double-tracked, which means you have basically 2 guitars playing the same part, with slightly different tone settings, making it sound bigger. And lead guitar parts and solos are often quad-tracked, which means you have 2 guitars in the left speaker and 2 guitars in the right speaker. Here is just one same track split between two speakers. Hope this clarifies the case :)

Creed had a certain style where he couldn't incorporate all this fantastic playing because of Scott Stapp but you can hear his skill even on early Creed albums... If you say he's not a good guitarist then you either don't play, or you haven't a clue what you're talking about. He's technically sound and clean. Whether or not his playing makes YOU happy, is you're personal opinion and not a judgement of him.

  • @Sedicee
    @Sedicee 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Tremonti is very good at creating very interesting sounding riffs and catchy tunes that made Creed a very popular band. In Alter Bridge this only improved allowing his riffs to become more developed and interesting. However, if you do any listening to Guns and Roses and Slash's Solo albums you will find he has much more mastery of tone and riff development. To say he can only play blues shows you have little understanding of Rock Guitar, as Rock itself came out of blues, the two go hand in hand

    We all have our own preferences, I don't belive in saying that some guitarplayers are bad, because we all have our own favorites. I like them both, they're awesome guitarists. To say Slash ain't a good guitarplayer just doesn't do any good when 10 780 240 people like his Facebook page and thousands of them love his playing.
    Show respect to one another!

    I like the sound of this model, can get a nice howl and scream out of it, plus the right Les Paul midrange frequency 'snarl' that has some greasy fatness to it. SWEET.

    PRS are often said to be higher quality for the price, but ultimately Gibson and PRS are both high quality guitars and it'll come down to preference.

    As far as technique goes, Mark is better than Slash. Slash is famous because of the success of Guns and Roses and his now iconic look. Slash has written some amazing songs and solos, just like Mark has, but Mark's technique is better. When it comes to their practices, Mark focuses a lot on technique, but I believe Slash has said that he (Slash) just kind of plays music and doesn't really take out a metronome and drill.

    How does he do divebombs on a non-floyd rose guitar? Is there something about that bridge of the guitar that I'm not aware of?

      PunkJ Singh if you go through the back plate of your guitar, you will find some screws and springs attached to the underside of your bridge. Loosen these springs and the tail-end of your guitar Bridge will raise away from the body allowing your Bridge to be moved either way to give an almost Floyd effect. Obviously you need a trem Bridge like you’d find on a strat-style body, bridges like those on a stock Telecaster won’t be able to be adjusted. Hope this helps!
