Sensational video mate, good to see you finally made it onto a Qatar flight. Re long haul 12-13 hours is just a standard hop for us Aussies. It doesn't become ultra long haul until it's 14 hours plus.
As someone who's flown back and forth between Japan and the Eastern US many times over the years, I've never thought of those trips as "ultra long haul," just normal!
I like that you are able to present all the details of this flight in about 12+ minutes rather than lagging it out to 20+. However sometimes 20min of Jeb Brooks content wouldn’t be too bad
Ultra-Long haul flights are at least 13 hrs and 30 mins. I still remember when I flew from Dubai to Dulles in 2015 before they introduced the A380 to the capital. It took us 14hrs and 56 mins and although long, it was a very interesting flight on the 777-300ER
Flying JFK-ICN or NRT-JFK non-stop for work is about as long as I've flown, which is a bit over 13 hours. Add PEK-EWR and PVG-EWR to the list as well....except the fact that there is a change in flights at SFO.
Continually voted the #1 airline in the world for a reason. Qatar business is the best! If they don’t own the lounge it shouldn’t be part of the rating. Their lounge in Doha is off the hook!
You should make more reviews of economy class for us "normal humans". For an indian like me, Regional flight is two hours (any shorter we take the train) Short haul is about 3-5 hours (usually to other countries in the Subcontinent) Medium haul is 6-8 hours (to other Asian destinations) Long haul is 9 hours or more. Ultra long haul is a concept we do not want to use.
14.5 hours Doha to DFW back in April 2020 Qatar a350 1000 bus class … smooth flying .. soundless engine …amazing service on board… no cons to say about Qatar airlines..

"The windows offered nice privacy during the night". Who were you expecting to be peeping in at you from the wing at 41,000 feet? William Shatner? - Look it up. The pointless gimmick doors don't seem to be powered as on some airlines. Not that private as people could grab a sneaky glance at you as they walk past.
I flew on Qatar Q Suite in September 2021 and it was my very first business class experience as well. I upgraded my seats to Business and man oh man, it was worth every penny. Im someone who loves yo stretch my legs and like some privacy as well. When i flew i completely forgot there were other passengers on the flight. I didnt use the IFE as much because i downloaded stuff on my netflix offline already. Since i upgraded, i wasnt allowed for free lounge access. I plan to fly again in April 2022 and I definitely will fly Q suite again and need to enjoy the full experience
I flew with Qatar on the A350 in their Q-Suite just before the Covid outbreak. If you are newly married, or just a couple, on a long distance flight, take the middle seats, as you can remove the divider between the seats and turn them into a double bed. Nothing better than cuddling with your love one in comfort on a long flight.
I've done the Atlanta to Doha route at least 8 times and i'm only 12! For me, an ultra-long haul flight would be one that lakes longer than 14 hours. I've just done too many long haul 12 to 13 hour flights to put them in that category. Interestingly, the Doha to Atlanta route takes 14 to 15 hours, which does put it in the ultra-long haul category. I did that because the return flights are always more boring and make for not so good an experience.
Qatar is my favorite airline. They are world class. The Al Mourjan Business Class lounge in DOH is fantastic. I have flown them twice. Once from BPN-DOH, and DOH-LAX. Have not flown their Qsuite yet.
It was amazing to see the Sinai Peninsula from the air. I crossed it via road in 2019 driving from Cairo to the Israeli border in Taba. I recall having an armed escort through portions of the trip due to Al Qaeda activity in the area. 8:15

Have only joined /subscribed in the last couple of weeks- really enjoyed video and enthusiasm as well as objective and “unbiased” opinion. Re. First class being a smaller cabin, many years ago my wife and I flew Air France first class to Toronto. Only 1 row of First Class on an A340 and we were the only passengers; in my wife’s eyes made even better as a fellow passenger on the connecting flight from Manchester to Paris had apparently “looked down” on my wife only to be on the same onward flight but “only” in Business so had to walk past and beyond the curtain ! Other story was the chief pursar knew I was a gold card member and guessed my wife and I were on an airmiles holiday (he was right !) so we had a younger, less experienced cabin steward serving which was great. My wife doesn’t drink on flights and the steward was desperate to open a bottle of Dom Perignon just me !

It is indeed a five-star airline, and a pleasure to fly. I entirely agree about IFE. Have flown QR for eight years now and i cannot find movies, albums, TV shows twice. QR IFE needs a table of contents or -- as you say -- a robust search function. I have a food allergy, they bend over backwards to accommodate all manner of dietary restrictions, while also serving extraordinarily tasty airline food. And -- they keep my allergy info on file, so they know what i'll be ordering. Very thoughtful. The cabin people are exceptional. They always make or break an airline. These folks -- men and women, from every point on the compass -- work hard and remain cheerful. I tip my hat. Finally, a BIG SHOUT OUT to the ORD counter crew. It's a growing station, but they get us on and out like consummate professionals. As the folks who set the tone for a trip -- especially a long trip -- counter people are frequently overlooked. I try to engage them and recognize their role in getting me wherever i need to go. QR's blend pleasantness and efficiency. I wish U.S. carries would learn. W QR i've gone to Paris, Madrid, London, Kiev, Jeddah, Riyadh, Kuwait City, Amman, Istanbul (old and new), Muscat, Delhi, Mumbai, Hong Kong and of course Dubai. Chicago, Philadelphia and DC in U.S. The uniform high quality throughout the system -- both on ground and in air, is itself a wonder. BIG LESSON for AA, or even UA, should they choose to improve. Longest flight I've ever been on was about 7 hours because we had to fly around a major weather system. And that flight seem very short LOL. I would love to go on flights that are much longer. I would love to take a flight that's eighteen or twenty hours long. That would be no problem for me. Long car trips, bus trips, train trips, flights, longer the better! Bring it on!

During the “Russian Invasion of Afghanistan “ the BA return flights Melb to Syd (Perth) to Changi (Bangkok) to London i think it was 27hrs all economy with baby!) OR To America United/NZ Airways Melb to Syd to NZ (Fiji also in one leg) the LA 17 hrs …Jeb you had it easy 😀
I flew 16 hours in a Qsuite from Doha to Houston. While I loved the food (I wanted to order the burger twice! LOL) and enjoyed the service, I surprisingly DID NOT love the seat. I like to adjust between sit, recline, sleep positions repeatedly and the location of the hip fold was always bothersome. I'm only 5'5" but found my feet often jammed against the foot well unless I did a whole body heave adjustment. Overall it was great, but surprised how often the seat gave me fits.
Q suites is the only time I've ever been at the end of a 14 hour flight not wanting the flight to end! Wish we could have circled Doha for a couple hours!
Amsterdam to Melbourne flown about 50 times when I was growing up because my parents were divorced but the last time was business class on the Top Deck just behind the pilots of the 747 Malaysian airways it was fantastic more then 24h

Here’s mine. Regional: 1 - 4 hours. Short Haul: 1.5 - 3.99 hours. Medium Haul: 4 - 6.99 hours. Long Haul: 7 - 14 hours. Ultra Long Haul: 14.1 - 22 hours.

Longest flight I've been on was Hong Kong to LAX it was around 14 hours. I consider 13-18 hours ultra long haul.

1:23 an ultra long haul flight for me is EVA air’s JFK-TPE Route, it takes a whopping 15hours! (It takes abt 13h 30m in the way back though.)

For us in South America those GRU-DOH or GRU-DXB : almost 15h

I am used to flying Houston - Taipei or LA - Taipei which can be 12-17 hours. Anything 12+ hours, I consider long haul.
The credit card (NFC) point is there to pay for duty free that can be purchased on board some flights
